UGA seems to have done OK more or less.
-
Pretty ecstatic so far!
-
SEC teams signed 7 FIVE STARS thus far. SEVEN!!!
-
not bad. feels weird being a little disappointed with a top 5 class so far. only guy that was really up in air was 5* de cox that ended up going to uga, which is what most thought would happen anyway.
uga and clemson had really big days. osu too, but most of theirs were already committed.
-
UGA cleaned up! Six five stars and multiple four stars on day one.
-
With the dumpster fire coaching search and players decommitting faster than UT players getting injured, Pruitt did extremely well on the first day.
-
UF lost a couple of WRs, and I was concerned when Corral (QB) flipped to OM, but he is more of a pocket passer. Good to see Mullen get his athletic QB in Jones to flip from tOSU.
I feel like this early signing period is sort of the first mile of a marathon - sure, it's great to have a good start, but there's A LOT of race left.

Arkansas picked up a 4 star LB with the most awesome LB name ever! Welcome to the Hogs, Mr. Bumper Pool!

great name. he needs to convert to a rb that bounces off people, though.

Forgot to mention an oddity - Florida signed a LB named David Reese. Florida already has a LB on the roster named David Reese.

The early signing period definitely is advantageous to schools with stable coaching staffs. Especially with the new rules that you can only sign 25 each year now.

I thought so too, but now I’m thinking the early signing period helped UT since Pruitt will be out of pocket coaching with Saban and we locked down some guys we might not have gotten. Starting with the number two class in the SEC before Butch got fired and then moving from outside of the Top 60 to inside the Top 30 is better than I thought UT would do. Pruitt sent some players away who had committed but didn’t fit his system and then landed guys who do in two highly-recruited prospects out of his home-state, beating Nebraska and UCLA for a big back to help him move towards a power run game in Jeremy Banks. He landed his teammate Jerome Carvin by beating Mississippi State late in the game. Pruitt landed a quarterback in former Cal commit JT Shrout. And the gem of the class was on four-star JUCO tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson who Saban really liked. JJ Peterson, the No. 2 outside linebacker in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, has been an Alabama lean for months and has been considered one of the Tide’s top targets in their 2018 class. That’s not a slam on Bama because they are going to get mostly what they want, but now that Jeremy Pruitt is the head coach at Tennessee, things have changed for Peterson. Peterson now has the Vols it appears as his favorite because of Pruitt.
