I think the Scream movies are a worthy representative of their genre-- but it's a genre that has never been my favorite.  I'm okay with horror movies (and spoofs) every so often, but I'm rarely going to spend my hard-earned dollars seeing them at the theater.

Superhero movies, on the other hand, are among my favorites to see in the theater.

Avengers for me, then.

I think I can watch mediocre to bad horror over mediocre to bad anything else, but I also struggle to think of GREAT horror movies.  They exist on a very narrow spectrum to me.  So they certainly aren't winning here.

Yup.  This one is Avengers all the way.

With that said, one of my guilty pleasures is crappy horror movies.  I will happily sit down in front of the TV and browse through the channels, and if by some chance "Chopping Mall" or "Bloodbath at the House of Death" comes on, I will certainly give it at least a few minutes of my time.  Occasionally you can find some really good stories, even if the acting is putrid.  I especially like horror movies where the protagonists do everything smart but are still getting picked off one by one by the requisite killer / monster.  Scream was like that and I think that was part of its appeal.

The Exorcist is probably the greatest horror movie (and has many crappy sequels).  I can't remember if it was included in this list or not.

So... Star Wars vs. a reduced MCU in the finals.
