I guess I've only been to 3 bowls. I lived in Jax and went to the WLOCP many years, but only 1 Gator Bowl.

Had the most fun in Nash Vegas.

1980 (1979) Rose Bowl - Ohio State vs USC went there on a Student package. Had a blast even with the loss
1981 (1981) Liberty Bowl - Ohio State vs Navy. Drove down and back the same day with my dad and my brother-in-law. Long Day for a pretty bad game.
2016 (2015) Fiesta Bowl - Ohio State vs Notre Dame. Always like watching Notre Dame get a beat down.
2016 (2016) Fiesta Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson. Quite a bit of fun even with the bad loss, brought my mom and she can be a hoot at times.
I had tickets to the 2002 Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship but my gave them to my dad (a life long Buckeye fan) and my mother as a Christmas present. He has been dead for awhile, but his Ohio State Shrine Room is still in my mom's house. As much as I would have loved to have been there, knowing how happy it made him was worth missing it.

Yeah I've been to a few Cotton Bowls, a couple of Alamo Bowls, and the Sugar Bowl.
New Orleans is a great place to spend the holidays, no doubt about it.
Let's see if I can list them.
1991 Cotton Bowl: Miami 46 Texas 3.
We thought "Texas was back." Texas was most certainly not back. Temps hovered just above freezing all morning, with rain/sleet drizzle. I think I might have gotten frostbite in my toes. Absolutely the worst game-attending event of my entire life, and it's not even close.
1995 Sugar Bowl: Virginia Tech 28 Texas 10
We thought "Texas was back." Texas was most certainly not back. But, we still had a great time spending almost a week in NEw Orleans.
1998 Cotton Bowl: Texas 38 Miss State 11
We thought "Texas was back." And, Texas was sort of back. Jacke $herrill, our former nemesis at A&M, was coaching at Miss State. Beating the snot out of his team felt really good that year.
2003 Cotton Bowl: Texas 35 LSU 20
Roy Williams absolutely took this game over in the second half, and Mack Brown beat Nick Saban. Yay.
2006 Alamo Bowl: Texas 26 Iowa 24
I really don't remember much about this game, other than being relieved it wasn't a Loss at the end of the day. We stayed at my favorite hotel in San Antonio-- The Menger-- and partied on the River Walk for a couple of days.
2012 Alamo Bowl: Texas 31 Oregon State 27
I don't remember much about this one, either. This was the downhill slide at the end of the Mack Brown era and there wasn't much to be excited about.
And that's all, haven't been to one since 2012. We're always camping during the week between Christmas and NYD so unless we were gonna play for the NC or something, I don't think it's likely I'd attend another bowl game.

- 1996 (1997) Rose Bowl: Ohio State 20, Arizona State 17: Great game and atmosphere. My Dad, Mom, little brother, and I drove from Ohio to California for the game, great trip. I was a student at tOSU, brother was in HS. For the trip we got to see LA and drove up the coast to San Simeon (Hearst Castle). Along the way (and totally unplanned by us) we got to see Elephant Seal mating season fights. Apparently people travel from the world over to see this. These giant male elephant seals fight (sorta like sumo-wrestling because they are enormously fat) and apparently the females just naturally gravitate toward the males with the best beachfront property. Hearst Castle and Morrow Bay were also highlights of the trip up the coast. It was a great game and great season marred only by one of Cooper's inexplicable losses to a clearly inferior Michigan team, ugh.
- 2002 (2003) Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State 31, Miami, FL 24 in 2OT: Great game and the old Fiesta Bowl (in Sun Devil Stadium) had a MUCH better atmosphere than the new one. My brother (student at tOSU at the time) and I (graduate by then) flew to Vegas and drove down to Phoenix where we met up with a guy I had graduated with and went to the game. Great trip and all and obviously a great game as well.
- 2006 (2007) Fiesta Bowl / BCSNCG: Florida 41, Ohio State 14: I did this one as a single on a package through the alumni association. It was a fun trip even going alone because I was with a huge throng of fellow Buckeye fans. The game obviously sucked from my perspective. Funny story: People I had met along the way helped paint on my Buckeye Helmet for the game. By the end of the game the front was totally smudged from me repeatedly smacking my forehead after another boneheaded mistake by my team. So I got back to the hotel on the bus and walked across the street to a bar. Bartender looked at me and said "What will you have?" Without missing a beat I answered: "You don't have anything strong enough."
- 2007 (2008) Sugar Bowl / BCSNCG: LSU 38, Ohio State 24: NOLA is the best bowl destination I have ever been to. It is just a great city so it makes a loss more tolerable because at least it is a great trip regardless. That said, playing LSU in their back yard and losing to them just sucked. Still a great trip. My brother and I drove down. We stayed in Nashville on the way and got to see the Grand Ole Opry so that was fun. Great food in NOLA!
- 2013 (2014) Orange Bowl: Clemson 40, Ohio State 35: This was an ok trip except that I ended up breaking up with my (then) girlfriend whom I took along so I had to drive all the way home from Miami after a bowl loss and with a girl that I had just broken up with. Yeah, not a pleasant drive home. Game was great but Ohio State just couldn't cover or tackle Sammy Watkins. According to the stats online he had 16 receptions for 227 yards but I think it was more like 200 receptions for 5,000 yards. It sure felt like it. At least Ohio State scored a lot too so it was a close game of what @OrangeAfroMan (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=58) would call "twelving". The teams combined for just over 1,000 yards so there was plenty of excitement. Plus, the lead changed hands with almost every score.
- 2014 (2015) Sugar Bowl / CFP Semi-Final: Ohio State 42, Alabama 35: Phenomenal trip and game. I took my (then) girlfriend (now wife). We drove down. NOLA is great and even better when your team wins! On the way we stopped in Tuscaloosa in the middle of the night. Before that we stopped at the Alabama welcome center at like 1am where there was literally a line of tOSU fans to get a picture at the "Welcome to Alabama" sign. That was comical. Then we stopped in Tuscaloosa in the middle of the night and ran into yet more tOSU fans milling around outside Bama's stadium at the Bear and Saban statues. I mentioned that we drove down but once we got there we did the alumni-association gameday package which came with a fun riverboat trip (the calliope played Hang on Sloopy) and various pre-game activities. Arriving at the boat at 9am the first person I saw asked if I wanted a bloody mary or screwdriver. I answered that it was a little early to start drinking. She said they were included. I said, "I'll take one of each".
So I have been to six and Ohio State is 3-3 in them. I can't complain about that. I saw them win an NC and saw them win a CFP semi-final and all three wins were GREAT games as was the close loss to Clemson. The two blowout losses detract from that somewhat, obviously.

The entire time I was in college, The Big Ten tie ins had #6 going to the Music City Bowl, and #7 going to the Motor City Bowl. So we said if MSU ever went there, we were in. 3 years they didn't even qualify for a bowl, and the one year they did, they were 9 to 3 and outperformed those, wound up in the Alamo Bowl, losing to Nebraska.
So the only bowl game I have ever attended was the 2002 or 2003 Motor City Bowl. Boston college destroyed Toledo. I think it was 42-10 at halftime, and then they basically spent the entire second half just trying to run out the clock. The final score was only something like 49-24.
There were actually a surprising number of Toledo fans there. I know it's an hour drive at most from the campus, but it was still a Motor City Bowl. Granted back that I think the Mac only had two tie-ins, so going to a bowl was still a big deal. Part of my argument has how more is not necessarily more when it comes to bowls

I think that's the game that convinced Steve Spurrier that he needed a new DC, so he hired Bob Stoops off the K-State staff.
I've only been to three bowl games.
1972 (season) Sugar Bowl
Oklahoma 14, Penn State 0. OU had 3 turnovers inside the PSU 5-yard line, or it would have been worse. The MVP was WR Tinker Owens, Steve's little brother.
OU had a stupid 20-14 loss at Colorado in the rain, or it might have been for the MNC. Woulda/coulda/shoulda.
Two buddies and I got to the stadium early and had to wait around until the gates opened. The PSU marching band arrived and acted like total jackasses as they passed by us.
2005 Liberty Bowl
Tulsa 31, Fresno State 24. Beach Boys played at halftime. We had tickets to all the TU festivities on Beale St. the night before the game and must have eaten something that had gone bad, as my wife and I were as sick as dogs 24 hours later.
2006 Armed Forces Bowl
Utah 25, Tulsa 13. I don't know if Steve Kragthorpe had already accepted the Louisville job and was checked out or not, but Tulsa played an apathetic game against a not-great Ute squad. I just about came to blows with someone who was taking exception to me loudly complaining about Tulsa's poor play. I had been to nearly every home game and figured I had a right to bitch.
This was when I found out that my buddy had Parkinson's disease. He died of it this past May.

I went to all of those games too. Didn't cross your path I suspect with all that red.
I've also hit an Auburn v Wisconsin Music City, Auburn held the lead late, seem to recall several UW self inflicted mistakes. and a Arizona State v Kansas State Holiday Bowl, KSU impressive 2nd half comeback. Lot of good talent in that game. and the '90 Fiesta Bowl when PT Willis lit up Tyrone Byrd and co. FSU 41 Nebraska 17.
I really enjoyed the Tempe based Fiestas. I go to Cactus League a lot so I know the Glendale stadium experience leaves a lot to be desired. Like going to a mall.
Music City is fabulous. The old OB was something else. Such mystique, I was a teenager.
The 18 to 16 OB remains one of the best sporting events I've attended. So exhausting.

1982 Peach Bowl, Iowa 28 - Tenn. 22 - Chuck Long was an incredible passer, Redshirt Freshman.
1985 Rose Bowl, UCLA 45 - Iowa 28 - Chuck Long put on an incredible passing performance, and Ronnie Harmon fumbled the game away.
1993 Alamo Bowl, Cal. 37 - Iowa 3 - Don't remember much about this nightmare.
1996 Alamo Bowl, Iowa 27 - Texas Tech 0 - Sat in 2nd row behind the Hawkeye bench. Chuck Long came into the hospitality room in the Hyatt where my brother-in-law and I were serving drinks and hors d'oeuvres for the San Antonio I-Club. We dropped my 7-year old nephew onto the field so he could meet the Hawkeye players following the game.

Not quite a bowl, but it was the Eddie Robinson Classic on Aug 24, 2002, a neutral site season opening game at Arrowhead Stadium
2002 Eddie Robinson Classic, Florida State 38 - Iowa State 31 - This was the 1st year Bobby Bowden's teams started to go downhill. Iowa State had a great team, and the game ended with Iowa State stopped at the 1-yard line. I saw a lot of Iowa State alumni I knew in the parking lots, which surprised me. I didn't see any of my FSU acquaintances.

I've only been to the Pizza Bowl in Detroit two years ago. Mo Ibrahim had about 250 yards and the Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech spun into the catch fence in Paul Johnson's last game.

Only been to the Continental Tire Bowl in Charlotte in 2002. UVA beat WVU 48-22. It sucked. I had crappy seats, WVU got whipped, and UVA’s pep band did a Family Feud parody at halftime with every hillbilly stereotype you can imagine.
All and all, I should have stayed home.

I hate/despise bands that do stuff like that. They break down our sense of sharing a common culture and exacerbate regional, religious, and class animosities. And they are always from a school that at least perceives itself to be elite. Stanford, Rice, UVA. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Yes, and I've meant to attend this bowl for quite awhile now. Was planning on making it my bowl trip with my Dad for this year. COVID not only nixed this year's edition, but Vegas has been dead since April. The gaming floors are about the only activity throughout the casinos. Everything else Vegas is a destination for – the pools, nightclubs, shows, and buffets – is shutdown.
The kicker for this year's bowl was the move from the middle-of-nowhere UNLV stadium, which has the feel of a dusty horse track, to the new Raiders stadium across I-15 from Mandalay Bay. Will try next season.

His '97 and '98 defenses in Gainesville cemented it, because they were saltyyyyyyyy. The offense didn't maintain it's incredible level, but the defenses did, under Stoops.
