Diaco fired after a single year as DC. Can't disagree.

I didn't like the hire to begin with.

Why not? Boilers beat Iowa, not sure canning him in a year like this is the answer. They're now looking for their 3rd DC in 3 seasons. He's coached at ND,UNL,Cinci - how bad can he be?

he was terrible at UNL, but then the Blackshirts haven't played up to that name since Suh was there

Bad enough to be let go by everyone he's worked for?

Purdue should take a hard look at Tim Tibesar.

Almost all coaches have a half a dozen or more stops before 50.I'm not saying he's good but one season with covid thinning out an already thin roster isn't exactly a fair measurement.Looked it up he got 625,000.00 to pack his bags so not too traumatic

I thought he did really well in Madison when he was there. He wanted the DC job that went to Wilcox, and then left for OrSU. Sounds like he's doing good things there too.

He was at Purdue for one year as DC too, so he knows the place.

Tim Tibesar was the DC at Purdue in 2012.

I know, and he's done very well since then.

Purdue has hired the following defensive coaches:

Brad Lambert - DC (from Marshall)

Mark Hagen - DL (from Texas)

Ron English - DB (from Florida)

Busy defensive off-season for Purdue.

Overall I really like the hires.  Hagen is excellent.  He served at Purdue under Tiller during the best defensive years and was a great recruiter and position coach.  Good to have him back.

English will get complaints.  But he has a ton of experience, and wont have the keys to the car.

Lambert is interesting.  His defense was excellent at Marshall (#1 in scoring D).  He became available after Marshall moved on from Doc Holliday.

A bit more on Lambert...

He was a Broyles Award nominee (nations top assistant).

His defense finished #1 in scoring (13 ppg).

His defense finished #5 in rushing (95.5 ypg).

Any explanation for why the DC hire took this long? Is this one of Brohm's "I've got it lined up but waiting for 'X' to announce", or did we strike out on a few guys and then get lucky with Lambert coming available?

I haven't heard any good inside information on it.

It's possible Lambert was waiting to see if he got the HC job at Marshall.  I believe he interviewed for it.  Marshall went with an outside hire, so at that point Lambert was available for our job.

My other thought was that Brohms first choice was Clayton White from WKU.  He ended up going back home to South Carolina, so Brohm had to have a Plan B.

Mike Elston from ND had his name mentioned a bunch.  I wonder if was heavily in the mix.
