RIP U of A...See 2009 Iowa St. At Nebraska. Nebraska had 8, Iowa state had zero. Four inside the Iowa State 5 yard line. Cyclones won 9-7.
The Sun Devils win 70-7 vs Arizona. Damn. That's worse than cancelling the game, isn't it?
Fun Fact: Arizona had more first downs than ASU.
Fun Fact 2: Arizona lost the turnover battle 0-7. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

damnit Marq,
That was a sharkwater party I was trying to forget!
not sure what I'll be eating today, but.........Keep us updated on your friend please.
there's a bit of the white stuff on the ground this morning, so....
I have a shot of Baileys in my coffee this morning
I've invited a couple fellow Husker fans over for the game.
If one of them attends I'll probably simmer some sausages in beer.
Unfortunately, the other friend is in the hospital with COVID. Concerning. He was still texting yesterday afternoon. I guess that's a good sign.
This is the day we normally have our big Christmas Egg Nog party. Uncle George's Famous Egg Nog.Explain something 94,you previously mentioned you still had some of last years eggnog to compare to this years correct? If so how the hell has that not spoiled? :017:
So the Utah State players voted to not play their game this week, over comments made by the school president on the interim coach's religion and cultural background. He is LDS.school presidents, of all people, should know better
Jeez. School president should be whacked, if true.
Keep us updated on your friend please. It's Chip, he made a trip to Madison for a game a few years ago.
smoked pork tenderloin with jalapeno chutneyIs this in the recipe thread, particularly the chutney?
Keep us updated on your friend please.Yes, good luck. I hope all is well with your friend.
Yes, good luck. I hope all is well with your friend.good luck
I'm in the hospital right now as well, but I'm not the patient. I sent my dad here by squad last night after my mom called. I went over and he was having trouble breathing. He has advanced dementia and a history of heart disease so I called the squad.
I was here most of the night and just got back. The Cardiologist will be here sometime today so hopefully then I can find out what happened. Right now I'm confused. He was short of breath and at least one cardiac enzyme was elevated but his EKG, blood Oxygen, and other indicators were normal. I'll find out soon, hopefully.
good luck+100
hopefully can be resolved quickly
It's Chip, he made a trip to Madison for a game a few years ago. He's a good guy. I enjoyed his company.
He also made the trip to Indy.
Obviously a regular at the Sharkwater party.
He's also one of my golf group.
Guy is younger than I. Maybe 55.
So the Utah State players voted to not play their game this week, over comments made by the school president on the interim coach's religion and cultural background. He is LDS.Sounds like the players said "why not promote the interim?" and the president got into all that.
Jeez. School president should be whacked, if true.
Opened the day with a 7-mile walk. My shoulder/neck has been off all week. Might sneak in an in-home lift, but we'll see. Think I'll go to a local biscuit place I've not visited in months.I'm guessing and hour and a half maybe 3/4s.I need to get back to it,haven't ran in ages and all my friends that did had premature ankle/knee/back/joint problems.Thought of cross country skiing but i could end up with the paddles on me,provided i was found

Tender loin is something i wouldn't smoke because
A) I'm not very good at the smoker
B)Tenderloin is tasty/tender on its own and the smoke wouldn't enhance it's flavor - to me
@FearlessF (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=10) :yes sir
Was Chip at your tailgate in Lincoln when I visited?
And bbq-smoked pork tenderloin is wonderful, the smoke definitely enhances the flavor. It's actually my favorite preparation of this protein by FAR.the guy that runs the golf course does boneless pork loin on the Big Green Egg regularly - at least once a week
I've never tried eggnog. At least not since I was a youngling. I bought some this year, and some brandy to go along with it. But I haven't been brave enough to pull the trigger.
the guy that runs the golf course does boneless pork loin on the Big Green Egg regularly - at least once a week
easy and VERY good - makes sammiches that are killer at the turn or after your round.
don't need the low and slow to render fat, there's not much. But with a little smoke flavor, it's much better than from an oven or a crockpot
Exactly, it cooks fast and there's no fat to render. I also only cook it to 140, or maybe even 137 or so, with the carryover expected to get it up to 142-145 or so. It stays really juicy that way. As it gets past 150 it dries out really quickly.Ed Zachery
I think the FDA even finally lowered their safety recommendation from 160, to 145, if I recall correctly.
Egg nog keeps fine in the fridge. I never thought about aging it until Alton Brown did a special on it. It mellows out with age, but also loses some of its body. I like it both ways, but when we end up with a little extra at the end of the season, I like to hold onto it so I can do a "vertical" with it the next year.Eggs go bad,so why not Eggnog unless it's frozen(just curious) and what's "vertical"?The opposite of Fearless at a Sharkwater TailGate?
Logan isn't super close to the LDS epicenter in Salt Lake, but it ain't far either. That'll get you canned real quick in that state.
I grew up hating eggnog, all I'd ever had was the storebought kind.I always loved it when I was around 10 I drank so much New Years Eve I was laughing at the earth. We have this Creamery up this way that makes Custard Nog .Never recalled having it until this week. It'll be my go to now, have my coffee with eggnog every day during the Holidays

... my shooting from the hip was wrong. I clearly need to bring my California self to Utah more.
That didn't sound right, so I looked it up.
Cache County which contains Logan is 74% LDS, the State of Utah as a whole is 64% LDS, while Salt Lake County is only 49% LDS.
When I cook it, I dial in the pit at 225, using pecan if I have some, otherwise post oak which I always have around. I slather the outside in yellow mustard and then apply the dry rub liberally. The rub is the same as my pork spare rib rub, which is 1/2 Bolner's Fiesta Pork Rub, and 1/2 Montreal steak seasoning. Smoke at 225 until internal temp reaches ~140, which is somewhere between 1-2 hours typically, obviously depends on the size of the tender.HA!We can agree on one thing Montreal Steak Seasoning and I used some Mrs Dash in a rub.I did this 1st
yes sirI thought I remembered meeting him. Tell him we in Ohio are thinking of him. This virus and 2020 in general can get over anytime now!
I've never tried eggnog. At least not since I was a youngling. I bought some this year, and some brandy to go along with it. But I haven't been brave enough to pull the trigger. It's gross.
... my shooting from the hip was wrong. I clearly need to bring my California self to Utah more.I think it's just logical that rural Utah is more LDS (religious) than urban Utah. Logan is....not large.

My guide says that Wisconsin-Iowa is supposed to be on FS1, but instead they are showing Minnesota-Nebraska.3:30
The egg nog lobby is,powerful. You're moving in on FFs turf - watch it buster
My guide says that Wisconsin-Iowa is supposed to be on FS1, but instead they are showing Minnesota-Nebraska.3:30 Eastern.
My guide says that Wisconsin-Iowa is supposed to be on FS1, but instead they are showing Minnesota-Nebraska.dude, complain about the guide
Penn State should be embarrassed that their turf is in this kind of condition, after what, three uses in the past year?Seriously, the park behind my house has better condition, you're right unless the grounds staff has been hit with the virus,no excuse.Nitnany Lions again, katie barr the door
Seems everyone's acquaintances have been in sick bay. Now it's my dad. He's got a kind of skin cancer in his sinus cavity, but with chemo and radiation he can be made more comfortable. He had a surgical biopsy yesterday, and it kicked his ass. He was just released today.Good luck @GopherRock (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=47) ,prayers to your family.
Wisconsin's offense has gone straight up terrible.Yup,reciever run wrong route or Mertz makes bad read and when he hits them it goes thru their hands.Shouldn't lean on one "Identity"too much.Badger D has been decent
Turkey is tasty, I think, but we often eat it one time a year.Habits based on nothing. We only eat whole turkeys once a year, but eat turkey for sandwiches year round. Turkey is great, and if it's on the menu at a BBQ joint, it's probably amazing.
Habits.
And lobbyists. Mhww would you like being a turkey lobbyist?
Not sure why, but I'm watching NC curb stomp some black and metallic orange team.I think the secret we've learned about Herbie over the years is that he reacts a little extra spicy to what he sees at that exact moment. Like, he does some stuff well, but he gets swept up in what's happening at that exact moment. He'll say something weird and different tonigh.
but ...
Herbie is saying that North Carolina will be the best ACC team not in the CFP (because Clemson and ND will both be there) and they will play highest non CFP B1G or SEC team. He projected that team to be Florida if they don't beat bama or A&M if Florida does win.
Sounds like ESPiN has completely forgot about the B1G.
Army-Navy is showing what football was like in 1907. Sheesh. There's an irony that those teams are usually secretly better at offense than defense, but Army is goodish at defense this year and Navy is good at neither.
UNC had a running back gain 236. They had another run for 308.Wow, amazing. They had 47 combined attempts and five combined TD's. Combined average of 11.6 per carry. Miami's defense is certainly not what it once was.
LSU looks pretty good.Playing like a bag of old dynamite.
when I'm the smartest guy on the coaching staff we seem to lose at a very high percentageso not sure how long they stay with Frost but the Gophers were short a lot of "starters" today but the back ups played well. not sure why Frost plays two QB's. I thought Martinez did a great job getting out of the pocket and make things happen. i thought we would see more plays with either QB running and scrambling
AHHHHHHH!!!!
That shoe throw will stay with UF fans for a long timeI mean, until next week when it's moot because Bama runs 60 on them.
Yes, everything is a conspiracy theory against you.Are you saying,Mullen mailed it in?With a chance to go to the CFP,maybe you should check your theories at the door. That'd make Mullen a bigger moron than you
Don't be a snowflake.
On actual football news, I don't like what Mullen is doing. it's like he feels bad for underhanded LSU. We're playing A LOT of backups sprinkled throughout the team. And we're just sitting Pitts out.
UF's loss to LSU probably doesn't matter for the CFP because they probably will lose to Bama anyway but what if they win?I remain eye-rolling at A&M, but that is what it is. I guess if they have a win against the SEC champs, that helps, though a 5-loss team has also done that in UF's building.
Assuming that UF knocks off Bama in the SECCG and aTm wins in Knocksville, the SEC's CFP contenders would be:
- 10-1 SEC-W Champion Bama
- 9-2 SEC Champion Florida
- 8-1 non-Champion aTm
I think that Bama would be in and the other two out but who knows?
Are you saying,Mullen mailed it in?With a chance to go to the CFP,maybe you should check your theories at the door. That'd make Mullen a bigger moron than youI think a lot of people are questioning how seriously Mullen took this game and how prepared he had his team for it.
#3 is in the ole miss dog pisser category of infamy.No. At least that guy is good. Marco Wilson played well as a FR, tore up his knee, and has sucked for 3 years. Then he throws a shoe.
I think a lot of people are questioning how seriously Mullen took this game and how prepared he had his team for it.When did Mullen say that? Before or after the Game?
Mullen told the announce crew he thought UF could lose to LSU and still get in the CFP by beating Bama.
UF's loss to LSU probably doesn't matter for the CFP because they probably will lose to Bama anyway but what if they win? There is no chance Florida beats Alabama. Alabama could win by 2+ scores without throwing a pass.
Assuming that UF knocks off Bama in the SECCG and aTm wins in Knocksville, the SEC's CFP contenders would be:
- 10-1 SEC-W Champion Bama
- 9-2 SEC Champion Florida
- 8-1 non-Champion aTm

When did Mullen say that? Before or after the Game? The announcers shared that he said it in their pre-game interview the day before. Mullen is wrong.
I think a lot of people are questioning how seriously Mullen took this game and how prepared he had his team for it.I don't think Florida's performance has anything to do with Mullen taking this game lightly. This is how Florida has performed the past 3 games. Only this time, the pinball of random chance screwed us with oddball turnovers.
Mullen told the announce crew he thought UF could lose to LSU and still get in the CFP by beating Bama. He just rested Pitts. That’s strange behavior to say the least and his team reflected his comments and actions.
When did Mullen say that? Before or after the Game? Before in mid week interviews.
I don't think Florida's performance has anything to do with Mullen taking this game lightly. This is how Florida has performed the past 3 games. Only this time, the pinball of random chance screwed us with oddball turnovers.Their defense is butt.
Florida's effort and performance are precisely aligned with their effort the past 3 games.
OSU/UM cancelled, but today still came down to “The Shoe”(https://twitter.com/DougLesmerises)Doug Lesmerises
Their defense is butt. The defense has been crap all season, aside from UGA and MIZ. I'd be stunned if Grantham stays at UF after the season.
Which is funny because when they hired him and he brought Grantham along, many said, that'll work for a little and then they'll have a bad defense that will cost some team.
And PSU QB Clifford is a really bad sport. We can hear him name calling and F Bomb dropping while taking the victory snaps.
From 11 WarriorsGee whiz what a whiner
Dan Mullen complaining that he's played too many games.
"I know we've played 10 games. Right? So, I guess probably the best thing to do would have been (to) play less games. 'Cause you seem to get rewarded for not playing this year in college football."
Man who got covid after ignoring covid now thinks covid should be held against others
Gee whiz what a whinerHe was directing that prolly at tOSU and maybe USC.The Conferences mandated the schedules and to follow certain Virus protocol.Hence no fans in the stands. But perhaps he was taking a flyer on the belief they'd get in with 2 losses because it was an "SEC loss".Considering who UF lost to that wouldn't apply. But IMO one has to concede any contenders coming out of the Big !0,Big12,PAC 12 for the CFP would have to be undefeated.
I feel really bad for the Badger defense.Ya,it started out so promissng didn't know that many starters were out.Well if there's a season to kiss off this would be it.Hopefully Mertz can come together for the program he showed flashes early on
Offense is a mess. 4th string center. Top two WR out. Top RB out. No chance they could have won. Tough game to watch.
I feel really bad for the Badger defense.Yes. They fought hard and their defense held their own. Weird season.

Mullen might be a good coach, jury is out on that I think, but it's possible, but his "attitude" is not what I think is appropriate, in many ways.I think we can safely say he’s a good coach. A great, get you to the highest level coach? Probably not, but he’s on the short list for best offensive coaches alive.
But he is a magnificent shit and a jerk. This has been apparent for a while, but you only get so many points for being nice.:043: Never saw that coming from you.Did he steal money from the Children's Hospital Fund?
:043: Never saw that coming from you.Did he steal money from the Children's Hospital Fund?Oh, it's kind of known. He was apparently so arrogant that he blew a Miami interview a few years back. He put his name in for every job and had to wait. He went 19-7 in two years at Miss State, wanted desperately to leave and had to wait two more years for when he was a third choice. He nearly started a fight, acted like a jackass and then came out in a halloween costume for the press conference. And there was the Jeffery Simmons mess.
Spurrier could be a jerk, but he was hilariously so. Mullen isn't funny, he's just a jerk, IMHO. I hope Bama knocks them into the Middle Ages frankly.Steve was a jerk with charm. Dan at time has the abrasiveness of a billow pad. But he's quite a coach. Usually a questionable DC hire is a problem, Dan won 80 percent of his games with the guy. (Ironically, Richt went 36-18 with Grantham with 2-3 solid to good defenses in four years, then the bottom fell out that last year)
UGA can now "claim" to be East co-champions. yay.
Cool. We lost to LSU's JV team due to a thrown shoe.C'mon MAN!!!

the Huskers will stay with Frost at least a couple more seasonsAs they should,he just didn't forget how to coach. At UCF he couldn't swing a dead cat with out hitting a couple dozen prospects
Oh, it's kind of known. And there was the Jeffery Simmons mess.I think he plans his newsworthy takes. He's very comfortable and friendly with the Gator press. He's also coy about why players are out until after the game is played. I think he's one of those people who want to keep the program in the news, even if its for a comment like "we shouldda played less games." It gets articles written about him and the program that wouldn't have been written otherwise.
And here's the thing, I assume most CFB coaches are some level of jerk. He's on the high end. But I also think he's a hell of a coach. Low effort evaluator and decent, not-great recruiter, but he might be the best offensive mind alive. He is so, so good on that front.
I never thought of Spurrier as charmingHe's an interesting mix: arrogant, sarcastic, religious, hokey, and willing to poke his rivals. 70 years old, working a nordic track with his shirt off. Talk smack, but then score 50 points to back it up.

Spurrier just had a sarcastic sense of humor. He wasn't as calculated, simply being who he is.
I never thought of Spurrier as charmingSure he was charming. He was funny and filled notebooks. In a sport where people try to say nothing, he always said something.
