biggest pillow fight of the year! Noon kickoff. Will be quite the shitshow.

MSU making a surprise appearance, to make it a triple threat match

How can it be as big a pillow fight as Penn St-Nebraska?
-
It's still hard for me to think "PSU-UM" and understand their records this year.
-
No wonder ND won't join the BIG,look what has happened to UNL/PSU since. It's always a better season when these teams and UM/MSU/UW are all that/.NU and the Hoosiers seem to have filled the vacuum a little
-
Well I guess I’m happy they got a chance to play some games this year. Even if they’re pretty bad if you’re a Michigan fan. A lot of young players are getting some invaluable experience at least.
-
Joe Milton: 5 starts, 4 TD's vs. 4 INT's. 57.2% completion percentage.
Cade McNamara: 0 starts, 4 series and about 2 QTRs of play plus a couple OT's: 5 TD's vs. 0 INT's, 67.8% completion percentage.
Jim Harbaugh is a blind fool. He wanted his pet project Milton to be the guy so bad, he ran off McCaffrey and kept a QB in McNamara that was clearly vastly superior to Milton on the bench. Think maybe that's why his team quit on him? Playing games with the most important position on the field too much? Could be. Harbaugh is a dolt.

I agree on the Cam Newton goggles but I’m not so sure it was Harbaugh who elevated Milton.

While Harbaugh has a whole thread calling for his firing, Franklin is 0-5 (plus an off field controversy). I've never seen a Penn State defense pushed off the ball like they are this season. One of Franklin's coaching strengths has always been motivating his team, whose overachieving results (11-2) last year came in large part due to effort. And right now Clay Helton, of all the fun-to-kick-when-down coaches, has his USC players motivated. Franklin's roster, on the other hand, seems more than anyone else hit hardest by 2020 lethargy. No fans in stands, masks every where you go.

Maybe not but he has the final say.Sometimes you just have to sit a guy so his confidence isn't ruined

I agree that the buck stops with Harbaugh. He needs to make some changes. McNamara should be the starter from here on out. And there should be coaching changes made at the conclusion of the season. The OC, DL, and safeties coaches should be let go at a minimum.

I still think that Franklin should be given the chance to right the ship in 2021. PSU has at least been above-average every other season he's been there. They seem to be having some off-the-field issues, but they completely pale in comparison to what happened roughly a decade ago (unless there's more dirt out there that we're not privy to yet).
-
I agree this has been his 1st real dismal campaign.Guess the rip is the amount of talent going to Pitt or elswhere. So if JF can dial up the charm and get back to the recruiting trial he should be alright...hopefully....for Nittany fans

I agree - every coach gets to have their bad year and Franklin has yet to have his first shoe drop. Plus, COVID 2020 is the perfect timing for a rotten season. And as for the off field stuff, a black coach advising his black players to avoid giving statements to the police is the politically correct move this year.

An AD would have to be nuts to make any coaching changes based on the results of this season.

plenty ADs pushed/influenced by boosters of substance that are NUTZ

Michigan kick returner Giles Jackson will be out due to an injury. OTs Mayfield and Hayes have been practicing and it will be a game day decision for them. The injury status and/or availability of C Vastardis, LB McGrone, S Hawkins, and DE Paye are unknown. One of the CBs hinted that McNamara will be the starter tomorrow.
Go Blue! Ok

So who is gonna win this thing?

I don’t have a clue. The Nitts will fight like an injured cornered animal.

that's a trick question. we all lose. those who watch this pillow fight at least. And I know damn well I'm going to, even though I don't want to.

yeah, I'm kind of with you. I doubt Harbaugh is fired. I'm 99.99% sure he'll be given 2021 to right the ship- if he wants it. Maybe he wants back in the NFL? Who knows.
What I do know is they can't leave him hanging on a contract. His contract expires after 2021. If they don't have him locked up for at least a 3-4 year extension it will kill recruiting in 2022 and beyond. No 5* or high 4* kids are going to come if they know Harbaugh is a lame duck. So in a way the AD at Michigan has to either shit or get off the Jim Harbaugh pot.

is Giles out? I thought that was just unconfirmed rumor at this point.
If you want to know why Michigan has struggled moving the ball on the ground- a lot of it was the lack of a real passing game- but they've also been missing 3 starters on a newly rebuilt OL for the past 3 games. 4 All of the guys replacing Mayfield, Hayes, and Vastardis are freshman or rs frosh. Bad year to be playing young guys with basically no off-season due to the COVID crisis.
At the same time Harbaugh really screwed the pooch by not starting McNamara day one. It's clear as day he's light years better at playing QB than Milton. And also- this play-calling really sucks and they platoon these RB's with no rhyme or reason. No one can get into a real rhythm. They are playing 4 different guys at RB- almost at random. Here's Corum one play- here's Charbonnet two plays- here's Evans one play- here's Haskins three plays- makes no gd sense. They need to pick one- and my pick would be Haskins- he seems to have the best vision and is the most physical. He runs hard every single time he has the ball and he's looking to get north/south- there's no tip-toe or trying to be Barry Sanders to his game. He just hits the hole and runs hard. The other guys are more physically gifted, have more speed- but they don't run as hard or have the same vision.

Yup with social/political/climate unrest and toss in a pestilent plague alot of variables to contend with.
WOW Jackson one of the truly bright spots in Ms season, doesn't appear serious so there's that. While Mdot is away in the NFL threads 430 bringing us some insider pearls

Not impressed with their tackling.

My physical therapist is a Michigan fan, native of the state, and alum. She was fired up about firing JH three weeks ago.
I'll see her on Monday, she'll just roll her eyes at me and say "Don't bring it up."

Michigan football has been paused indefinitely due to presumptive positive COVID tests. There is a merciful God.

When UW and UMD had to cancel games due to COVID it was two games. That suggests that Michigan could be back for "Champions Weekend", no?
Also, here is an interesting possibility:
What if Michigan misses their next two (vUMD, @tOSU) but IS available for "Champions Weekend" and further assume that tOSU is ineligible for the B1GCG either because they have to cancel their game with MSU this weekend or because Michigan has to cancel THE GAME next weekend and Ohio State can't find another opponent.
Could THE GAME be played on "Champions Weekend"?
It would be screwy because it obviously isn't B1G-E vs B1G-W but there might be a simple solution to that. Wisconsin and Minnesota didn't get to play for the Axe this year due to an outbreak in Minneapolis. That rivalry is obviously important to them so what if, for Champions Weekend we had UW/MN and tOSU/M then had the other five teams in each division play cross-division games?
It is possible that the cross-division games would be tOSU/UW and M/MN anyway because:
- Ohio State and Wisconsin are likely to both finish ineligible for the CG but with the best record or next best after the CG participant in their respective divisions.
- Michigan and Minnesota are currently 2-4 and 2-3 respectively. That puts Michigan tied for 5th/6th in the B1G-E and Minnesota tied for 4th/5th/6th in the B1G-W.
So basically you'd just be replacing the tOSU/UW and M/MN cross-overs with rivalry games that got cancelled due to COVID. It makes sense to me, lets do it!

No I actually like him. I didn't like him when he was coaching.
But watching him in his media job break film down, talk about technique, coaching and his philosophies- it's very easy to see why he was so successful. He is a football genius imo.
-
yes, I enjoy his ability to share his knowledge of the game
-
I like and respect Urban Meyer. Can't say the same about Sweatervest.
-
they should just cancel the last two Michigan games and save us the embarrassment. Who really wants to see Ryan Day murder Harbaugh on live tv? I'd rather not.

I like this. These are two of the most important rivalry games in the Big 10.

I'd like to see it but oddly, I think it is better for you (and Michigan and their fans in general) than it is for me (and Ohio State and their fans in general). My reasoning here is that EVERYBODY expects Ohio State to win. If THE GAME isn't played this year all of us Ohio State fans will say that our team would have won if they could have played and nobody will disagree with us.
That makes THE GAME something of a no-win situation for tOSU and something of a no-lose situation for Michigan. If Ohio State wins they will get no real credit for it, it isn't like they are going to jump ND in the CFP poll on the basis of having beaten a sub .500 team. And if Ohio State loses or even wins a close game, that will look horrible for them. Meanwhile for Michigan, even if they get absolutely slaughtered on the scale you have been predicting most people aren't really going to reduce their opinion of Michigan for that but if they win or even play a competitive game, that looks great.

My physical therapist (from Michigan) was pretty incensed (again) about the loss. I got her riled up.
I mentioned that it might be good they look so bad because it would make a decision more obvious.
