Here we are again. Wisconsin is back, but Maryland and Ohio State sit.
No cooking today. We are going out to eat and hear a band (outside), and then come home to watch more football (Wisconsin football, that is).
Should be a fun day of football.

We get the weird 5 pm kick for Purdue-NW

Wait a second I thought you were beating back Hurricanes. They didn't waste anytime opening up,Cheers
-
Something watching Urban talking about Indiana going up to the line against Michigan with no play call, just wait for them to jump offsides, then snap it and everyone runs down the field
-

We didn't get hit that hard here. Lots of rain, some wind. Not too bad. North FL got it worse.

We get the weird 5 pm kick for Purdue-NW
I don't mind the timing
gives me time for a short nap after the Husker game
-
when your program isn't worthy of primetime, ya get stuck on 11am kicks
Oh well, I have Husker football and I certainly don't mind bloody marys and a beer buzz in the morning
-
I like the early starts. It's easy to watch more football after (hopefully) a satisfying win. This 7:30 stuff - not a fan.

after a satisfying win is the key

The Big Ten has quietly given the green light to pairing two conference teams together for a game if their opponents need to cancel that week for COVID-19 reasons.

This makes all the sense. If you're doing what you're doing, the only person it creates issues for is coaches, and to them and the problem of schematic prep, I am not sympathetic
-
I got in a run this AM, didn't know if I would.
It might be heretical, but I don't totally get the consumption of GameDay. Maybe I'm a junkie and not a tailgater, but if I'm gonna give 4-14 hours to CFB, I need those three hours for something else. (I suppose if I was tailgating, it would be OK as wallpaper)
-
Master's Coverage is an option
-
Settled on an array of dips for food today. Got some bread, will fry up some tortilla chips, and then make a seafood dip, a buffalo chicken, and a ranch and bacon. Healthy!
-
Just got back from a run, too. Weather's kinda warm and muggy, I jumped in the pool to cool off.
I used to watch Gameday religiously, back when it was only an hour and the 24/7 sports news cycle wasn't as prevalent, so the content was more fresh and condensed. But I haven't watched it in years, maybe a decade. At the tailgate party we always had Gameday on one of the TVs, and EPL soccer on the other, until the 11 AM games kicked off.
Horns are off this weekend for a regularly-scheduled bye week, and the ags are off for COVID reasons, so I doubt we'll watch any football today. Daughter has her 2nd-to-last soccer game of the season so we'll be doing that at midday.
-
Watching GameDay only because its at Augusta.
-
I've prepped bacon wrapped little smokies for the oven
there will be plenty of bacon fat so sliced up some red onion to saute in the grease while baking
also, chopped some fresh salsa. 2 hot peppers instead of one. Gonna require some beer!
Bloody Mary ingredients at the ready!
AC/DC radio on Pandora!
I'm about ready, just need to raise the Husker flag and sing the school song!

Workout done.
Tagliatelle with white ragu on the menu today.

God workout this morning. Only allowed 50 minutes at the fitness center, and only 6 at a time. Capacity is 25.
-
Based on what I saw on Twitter this morning, I didn't miss anything last night. We put up the Christmas tree instead.

Lets see VTech lost to Liberty but is favored by 2 over no.9 Hurricanes.Sumptin'-sumptin'

I think Miami might be missing a bunch of players.

What does the God workout consist of? Benchpressing a bulldozer?

Penn State-Nebraska. The battle of the winless helmets. Who can carry on with perfection in the loss column? Will it resemble a game between two NFL teams that are trying to "tank" for a high draft pick? Or is one of them going to absolutely curbstomp the other into oblivion?
I like the Leos over the Bugs in this one.

Hopefully PSU-UNL & Ind-MSU are decent contests been a busy last 2 weeks and I'm kicking my feet up.Got 2 coats of paint on the kitchen and dinnette.Ripped up those floors and replaced then spent time in between blowing/piling up the leaves :cheer:

With Iowa's blowout of Minnesota last night the Hawkeyes maintained their streak of, so far, doing better against each of their opponents than any other team.
- They lost to Purdue by four. Purdue's other opponent lost to them by seven.
- They lost to Northwestern by one. Northwestern's other opponents lost to them by eight and 40.
- They beat Michigan State by 42. Michigan State's other opponents lost to them and beat them by 11.
- They beat Minnesota by 28. Minnesota's other opponents lost to them, beat them by one, and beat them by 25.
This will change once the PU/NU game is played later today because the winner will have done better than Iowa did but still, I think Iowa is considerably better than their .500 record suggests.
-
The Big Ten has quietly given the green light to pairing two conference teams together for a game if their opponents need to cancel that week for COVID-19 reasons.
Interesting.
So, suppose Wisconsin had still been unable to play this weekend. Thus Michigan (Wisconsin) and Ohio State (Maryland) would have had no opponents. Would they have played with their game later in the season as a rematch?
-

How is the ranch and bacon dip? Is it hot, crock pot?
I have a buffalo chicken dip that I like, a crab dip that I like, and a spinach and artichoke dip that I like. I'd be interested in trying the ranch and bacon dip if you don't mind sharing the recipe.
I have a triple crock pot that I use and I'd try new alternatives.

Heh can't vouch for it because I never made it before.
https://www.spendwithpennies.com/crack-dip/
M (https://www.spendwithpennies.com/crack-dip/)y wife loves the imperial crab dip at Bonefish Grill, and I figured I'd try to make it. Then I thought, hey, already have the stuff for buffalo dip, so might as well make that. Then I thought why not make a third dip, and that one looked easy and I just had to buy the ranch dressing mix so why not.

Welp, MSU has the turnover blues again (-2 so far.) Don't see how Sparty can win a game if they are in the minus column on turnovers.

Why is Nebraska on the west sideline? When did that change happen?

Interesting.

I would guess that they would have knocked it out early in order to make sure that they get the game in.
Create an open date for each team when the game was initially supposed to transpire.

PSU not exactly on the upswing, already down by two touchbdowns

Penn State down 3-17, difference so far is Nebraska showing big playmaking ability.

If I read it right, the liberty game involved a bunch of sustainable stuff going Virginia Tech‘s way and the unsustainable stuff going liberty‘s way
-
Well things just as slanted in EL Hoosiers up 14-0 but Sparty just got a pick to stop Indy moving in again.C'mon Sparty make a game of it.I think ELA went to boff
-
#9 was overdue for that target call. He was lucky not called for that last drive.
Hes Rasputin.

Jeebus Sparty just threw the ball back to the Hoosiers 🤦♂️

Rutgers with a quick score
-

Huh?
-
Hoosiers Sparty combine for five TO's already, but only one team can actually score, so Windiana up 17-0
-
Huh?
Typically sustainable stuff is stuff like efficient offense and defense, while unsustainable stuff is turnovers and other lucky breaks.
-

Yeah, just got the TV on and tuned to this pillow fight, and thinking I'm going to have to watch anything else.
Been a full morning so far. Took the dog for a walk, hit the driving range, got my shower in while my wife got caught up on Grey's Anatomy, and now ready for some football... Or the Masters, given this lopsided score...
No cooking for me today. FIL's b-day, so we'll go over there for lasagna. Of course it has to be scheduled to start right in the middle of the 2nd half of the Purdue game. I really wish all my people here in Southern California would look at Purdue's football schedule before making plans. Rude.

I know you're the "Bay Area Badger", but you moved back east somewhere, right? Originally Bay Area, but not any longer?
I personally like Gameday as background noise. But here it's from 6-9 AM, so it's more of something to turn on while I'm getting my morning caffeine into my system than an active "game prep" sort of thing. Especially since the topic of Purdue basically doesn't come up anyway, since we're not a helmet or relevant team at this point.
If it was 9-noon rather than 6-9 AM, I'd be finding other stuff to do. 9-noon is more valuable time that I could actually accomplish something.
-
Hard to deny it, ACC has delivered the most entertaining football this year.
-
Typically sustainable stuff is stuff like efficient offense and defense, while unsustainable stuff is turnovers and other lucky breaks.
Typically sustainable stuff is wind or solar power, while unsustainable stuff is fossil fuels. I never heard it in reference in football (and neither has google, causing me to post the 'Huh?' message.)
I guess I still don't understand what your sustainable reply had to do with Va. Tech being favorite over Miami?

By this logic, Miami should be favored today, due to their 243 days of sunshine per year, over Blacksburg's 215. Add to that western VA's reliance on coal for power and jobs, and the Canes have it.
Perhaps it's hurricane season's expiring in October that has moved the line?
And we all know it's always sunny in Liberty, save for 3 dark days every spring.
-
I woke up at 10:30 in my chair.
I said, "damn, it's 10:30!?"
Ate a leftover hamburger.
Printing and cutting while watching Miami @ VT.
Big day! Gators on at 5:00.

Things are spiraling out of control.
It is weird, they looked pretty good the first two weeks:
- Losing to Indiana sucked but Indiana looks pretty good and that game just "felt" like an upset.
- Losing a reasonably competitive game to tOSU isn't anything to be ashamed of.
Then things blew up.

A team that is good at football can still fall victim to random acts of terrible luck that cause them to lose. A team can be crappy at football and get lucky breaks that cause them to win. SP+ and other advanced stats (and Vegas) are looking at that.

No. Per a friend in the press box, they haven't been given a reason yet. Something they've considered for a few years. Everyone wondering the same.

Damn PSU-MSU should just claim covid concerns and head home and hope no one makes a break for the portal

There's no damn reason we all can't order a pizza at 6am. No valid excuse we can't enjoy some shrimp fried rice at 8am.
The egg lobby is no joke!

you can get a decent breakfast pizza at the local Casey's gas station in Iowa

One is merely flacid, the other has an extreme case of shrinkage.

First game for Nebraska on west sideline bench since 1961. Still no reason given.
-
How to make Chinese fried rice
- Fry the rice by lightly browning in a pan or wok.
- Stir-fry the onions, garlic, and carrots until tender.
- Make a large well in the center of the pan with the rice.
- Pour in the whisked eggs and scramble until small curds form.
- Soy sauce is optional but adds a savory flavor to the rice.
-

Starting to look like Penn State used the ice baths before the game, and then Nebraska hopped in at halftime.

Sparty is terrible. How the hell did Harbaugh lose at home to them? There’s no valid excuse for that loss.

Indiana might be really good.
This is a weird year.
Worst year of the 53 my lifetime.

I hate eggs in my fried rice.
But your point is lost on them. They don't believe in their product enough to make as much sales as they'd like for non-breakfast foods. They figure if they're going to be relegated to one meal per day, they should own it. And they do.
-
oh boy! PSU making it a game.
-
Miami-VT has been a good game. Canes take their first lead.
Mack Brown needs to fire his DC. I don't care how good a season UNC ends up having, you shouldn't need to have a weekly comeback after your opponent has 45 points.

People REALLY like that DC.
I think he’s a tad overrated, but he got army decent by adjusted metrics, which ain’t easy. He also sends all the weird blitzes

-
oh boy! PSU making it a game.
Switched back over from the Masters to catch this ending.
-
Walked back in to see we have a decent game going on. I bought a 200 buck leaf blower the other day, so I've been having fun trying to scare my pets and blow my wife's clothes off. More fun than actually blowing leaves, at least.
-
I fixed a nice egg omelet for the wife this morning. She slept later than usual. I use one egg when I make fried rice. The key I find is getting the rice fried, I use some hot oil to literally fry it without making it too greasy.
The egg on a pizza thing in France is odd for us, but they have a powerful egg lobby there as well. Des ouefs.
-
Huskers hold on 4th and 10!!!!
still 4~ish minutes though
-
A good fried egg on a hamburger ain't too shabby either. A fried egg on anything ain't bad.
-
A terrible playcall there. PSU needs basically a touchdown on fourth down, and they send one guy to the end zone? Almost no chance from the start.
-

Jeez. I bought a $40 leaf blower and it seems to be overpower for normal use when I put it on high.
Sure do save a lot of money with corded electric over gas or battery.
-
Huskers punted back to the Lions with 2:34 on the clock.

Rondale Moore declared out again with no explanation.

Well I wanted the one that uses the same battery as my lawnmower, so I knew it would be pricey. Also easier to chase kids around the neighborhood.
-
Rondale Moore declared out again with no explanation.
That is the weirdest thing
-
4th and goal again. we got a good one in lincoln.
-
PSU with the QB draw there that got blown up, announcer confused as to why the receivers didn't look interested in the play
-
Hopefully they send more than one guy to the end zone
-
YASSSS!
-
McCaffrey scrapped together a game. Hes going to be easy to scout. Highs and lows I see.
-
That game just reminds me of why CFB is so much more enjoyable than NFL- at least for me.
That was 2 winless teams, and I enjoyed every minute of that game because that’s 2 tradition rich schools and they played their asses off.
-
Virginia Tech really flamed out Vs Miami after leading the whole game. Big reason the Hokies stopped moving the ball enough was their QB holding onto the ball WAY too long and not throwing downfield for whatever reason. Canes late game pass coverage flipped the game their way.
-
Fighting Lovies got a shot to win this!
-
This QB pretty good w his feet, less so w the arm
-
Uggggg!! Rutgers Illinois game. 5:04 left on the clock, tie game, big 3rd and 9 play coming up.
Announcer goes whatever you do don't throw an incomplete pass you want to run as much time off the clock as possible... Really??? 5 minutes left bud, we can get 3 more possessions with how these teams are going.
-
OM Goodness, back to back missed field goals for Illinois. hard to win games like this.
-
OM Goodness, another pick by Rutgers setting Illinois up in field miss range....
-
Football is quite bad this year
-
ob boy, 3rd time is the charm. He hits the 3rd try to go ahead with 3 seconds left.
EDIT: Rematch on championship saturday?
-
To all Husker fans everywhere, especially those on this board, congrats on the win over Penn State today.
No disrespect to Penn State fans intended, but my school doesn't have an 86-game history with Penn State.
-
Even in 2020, God doesn't want to see OT between Rutgers and Illinois.
-
Not sure how I feel about replay being able to erase onside kicks due to illegal blocks
-
what??? BC vs Domers, BC gets an onside kick, but it's called back for????
-

boo.

So if the defense jumps offsides w/o making contact, the ball isn't snapped, and the OL reaches out and taps the defender on the helmet, the defense is responsible for offsides w/contact?
-
So if the defense jumps offsides w/o making contact, the ball isn't snapped, and the OL reaches out and taps the defender on the helmet, the defense is responsible for offsides w/contact?
I think technically it's a false start caused by the defense

Hands up in Bells facemask on that last pass too. Should have been PI
-
Hands up in Bells facemask on that last pass too. Should have been PI
Yep.
Purdue offense is useless so far. At least the D is holding after that first drive. But they'll get worn down if the offense keeps stalling.
-
But at least Purdue got an int. Let's see if they can do something with it.
-
4th and 1, throw a play action crossing route to a TE that's never caught a pass as a Boilermaker for a 40 yard TD!
Tied at 10.

That was a great play call.
-
Nice toss from Ramsey
-
Jesus. Not only do we do nothing to answer the TD, we take no time doing it. Our Swiss cheese defense might give up more in 2:17.
-
Northwestern defense is tough.
-
If I'm playing Michigan I'm testing their corners downfield. Wiscy didn't try on their first drive.
-
No. Per a friend in the press box, they haven't been given a reason yet. Something they've considered for a few years. Everyone wondering the same.
The other team's pressbox scouts stealing signals, perhaps?
-
This team is a god damn joke. Milton threw a fricken bullet on the run that hits Eubanks right in both hands- and butterfingers lets it go right through his hands up into the air and Wisconsin whiteboy safety makes a ridiculous 1 hand diving int- then on next play this sorry ass defense gives up a 30 yard run on a reverse.
Why do I even watch these losers? They are a pathetic sad sack of shit.
-
Jim Harbaugh has to be fired. There’s no excuse for this horseshit in year 6.
-
Woof that pick. Wiscy defense is the truth
-
Harbaugh and Don Brown yet again getting completely out coached and our classed by a real coaching staff.
Kind of funny how whenever this shitbag faces a legit coaching staff he gets completely out coached and outclassed.
Only time he beats teams with better coaches is when he has way more talent than the other side. Whenever it’s equal or less talent- shit for brains gets his shit pushed in.
-
How the hell is that not pass interference on Wisconsin ?
-
Dax Hill should’ve went to Alabama.
-
Michigan only has one yard of offense? Did I hear that right?
-
Michigan only has one yard of offense? Did I hear that right?
Yep.
1 yard of rushing at the end of the 1st quarter. That's it.
-
Mertz has looked pretty average and Wiscy is up 21-0
-
QB Trask at half: 18-22 for 275 yds and 5 TD, 0 INT
-
MgoBlog posters so pissed off and in such mad meltdown mode they’ve crashed the website. LOL.
-
Well, half of Milton's passes have been caught . . .
-
12 plays for 5 yards?
-
Milton just blew a wide open td pass. He has to learn how to put air on the ball and arch it to let the receiver run under neath it. He throws everything 100mph on a line.
-
ABC with some major stinkers this season.
-
First game for Nebraska on west sideline bench since 1961. Still no reason given.
well, it worked
let's keep it going

Sparty is terrible. How the hell did Harbaugh lose at home to them? There’s no valid excuse for that loss.
well, Michigan is just worse than Sparty

Our defense isn't still bad enough to allow 40 in a win.
North Carolina may be starting a new round of realignment in 2020, applying for Big XII status, having twelved for the 3rd time this season.
-
I just had this weird premonition that Michigan beats Wisconsin, no idea why, 27-17.
This isn't aging well.
-
Yeah, premonitions are about as predictive as faith.
-
Looks like Michigan found a QB in McNamara. Maybe move Milton to TE.
-
Crawford fight worth watching tonight.
-
So Harbaugh is now 10-9 in his last 19 games, with seven of the losses by at least three scores, and one of the two close losses being to a hilariously bad Michigan State team two weeks ago.
-
Talking to nervous UW fan friend earlier today, who is a total cliffs notes college fan. He couldn't believe the line. He's probably watched one game UW v ILL. I was like have you watched Michigan? Do you think this is 1989? I gave him 13 pts. After 1st qtr he was like wtf?
-
thanks, see you in Norman next fall
I plan to be there, with or without a ticket.
-
Pretty typical Crawford fight. Where's Spence?
-
The announcers were wondering about the line for Miami @ VT, and now we know why VT was favored: the Canes barely had enough players to play the game.
-
I've been very reluctant to bet anything this season. Very tough to know or trust what to expect from kids and young adults. You miss a long snapper a kicker whatever, its tough sledding.
-
FLA,Oregon,ND,UW all looking good, the committee just might have to earn their coin this year.Trask for the Gators is having himself a season today he went 23 of 29 for 356yds and 6 TDs :o I thought PSUgot jobbed at the end of the game on the 2nd to last play I believe reciever was clearly fouled how the back judge missed that I dunno.Hope Mdot hasn't comitted hara kiri

sounds like me on sundays

Well, half of Milton's passes have been caught . . .

I just had this weird premonition that Michigan beats Wisconsin, no idea why, 27-17.
Welp.
-
Not weird - whack
Yeah, it came to me out of nowhere, and left just as quietly.
I was figuring in this weird season something like this could happen I guess.
-
I was thinking UW by like 21 didn't see that coming. But M certainly helped things along also.During the presser JH was like he had be clubbed or sedated
-
So, Wisconsin is probably pretty good, and Michigan is demonstrably not very good at all.
-
This team is a god damn joke. Milton threw a fricken bullet on the run that hits Eubanks right in both hands- and butterfingers lets it go right through his hands up into the air and Wisconsin whiteboy safety makes a ridiculous 1 hand diving int
Ya as you said he fires everything on a straight line 1,000 mph
-
The announcers were wondering about the line for Miami @ VT, and now we know why VT was favored: the Canes barely had enough players to play the game.
I'm happy the Canes covered
unfortunately, I took Penn State -3
I hit 5 of 6. Might get me 2nd place $$$
-
The disparity in rushing yards for UW/UM was astonishing.
-
Michigan coaches suck at masks too.

Speaking of highly regarded programs having "issues", was this expected for Penn State?
-
PSU was pre-season top 10
-
Obviously it's a weird year, but some teams have really fallen off. Georgia is not as good as their preseason ranking obviously, but they probably can beat the lesser teams consistently. PSU and UM have basically collapsed and looked bad doing so.
Maryland has a pulse and Indiana looks dangerous.
-
PSU has, at least, been in a couple games

The book on him preseason was that he was highly raw, but they just had to go with him, right? That would be the pitfall of that situation.

This really opens up a lot of possibilities.

I don't think that Northwestern, Indiana and Purdue necesarily got all that much better, just that everyone else got quite a bit worse.
-
Indiana seems better, but they seem to me to have been gradually improving for years now.
-
Yeah, I don't think that the Hoosiers finally got over the hump vs Michigan and Penn State because of their improvement, so much as Michigan and Penn State becoming hilariously bad overnight.
-
Going to guess that's the first time a player rushed for over 300 yards while their team lost.
Nm. Can't read a box score apparently.
-
wasn't there a MACaction thread?
good MAC game going on now
28-28 just before the half

You would have been wrong anyway. Hell, WVU has had a player rush for over 300 yards twice against Oklahoma in the last 8 years and lost both games. One of them was a 56-28 blowout.

Bowling Green got Buffaloed.

What Big Ten team hires Lewis and his gimmick offense and why is it Illinois?
