Title: SEC All-Decade (2010-2019) - Quarterback
Post by: OrangeAfroMan on June 12, 2020, 11:03:09 PM
I guess you could choose 'other' if you want.

Prescott also had 2,500 yds rushing w/ 41 TDs.  None of the others have bigtime rushing stats.

If this is a poll about who the best SEC qb in the preceding decade, how can you omit Joe  Burrow, Tua and Cam? I know you had other as one of the choices. It seems strange to me not listing two Heisman winners and another who imo would have won the award if not for injury.

I'm not sure a single season of greatness lends itself to an "all-decade" team.  I'm probably wrong.

I think if a single season is off the charts, it would count.  The yardage would say Aaron Murray obviously.  I dunno, it depends.

If I add Burrow in, he certainly fits in line with several of the others.  But look at Murray's volume...if it's all about an elite individual season, then that's what the poll would be about.
For All-Decade teams, I just think they're called that for a reason.

I don't have a problem either way, but why is there a difference if there's no difference?

i always aproach these as who i'd want on my team. if someone's season was good enough to trump another players career, then what the problem?

of those listed, i'd take burrow. if there's a chance he can produce regularly like he did this season, he's my guy.

i'd probably been a homer and taken tua if he was there. injuries are only concern.

Of course you would take Burrow. He is the only serious choice listed. I did omit one qb who should have been listed along with Burrow, Tua, and Newton. That qb was Johnny Manzeil who passed for 7820 yards, ran for 2169 yards, threw for 63 touchdowns, ran for 30 tds, and had a qb rating of 164.1.

Tu'a was other worldly when I watched him play.  Then Burrow came along and reset the whole point of reference.

Boy, the more I do these things, the more I realize I'm the only one who cares about volume.  I'll ignore that from now on.

Joe Burrow - 2018
219 of 379 at 57.8% for 2,894 yards, 16 TD and 5 INT for 133.2 rating

But no one seems to remember that.
