Title: Best 4 Year Period For FBS Schools
Post by: ftbobs on June 05, 2020, 12:18:58 AM
Here are the best 4 year period for each school by winning percentage.  Something in me wishes I'd included a minimum game criteria, but it is what it is:

With a 20 game minimum:

Michigan (43-0-1)--0.989  1901-1904
LSU (44-8-0)--0.846 2003-2006
Central Michigan (32-4-1)--0.878 1953-1956
New Mexico (19-7-3)--0.707 1924-1927
Arizona (26-7-0)--0.788 1919-1922
New Mexico State (22-3-1)--0.865 1910-1913
UL Lafayette (24-6-1)--0.790 1915-1918

Wyoming is still coming up 8-0 for reasons unknown.

It took me a second to realize you were just including the sub-20 gamers here.

It's because 8-0 Wyoming is the best team of all time. No denying it.

Just keep repeating, "There are no such things as coincidences!"  Say it often enough, and it will be so.

I'm so glad that Oklahoma contributed 4 of Texas' wins.  Especially since Texas contributed 4 of OU's.

OU and UT--just a mutual back-scratching club.

I'd put a 35-game minimum and post 1936 if I was the boss.

Well, it doesn't matter what I do, that 8-0 Wyoming still shows up against all logic.  As such, I'm just going to pout and ignore it.

I'd be curious how the B1G looks, from Wisconsin's 1993 resurrection, to present. Can you please do that one?

OSU's worst four year stretch is probably 1895-98. (4-4-2, 5-5-1, 1-7-1, 3-5-0)

1897 was the worst season in school history. The only other time OSU has lost 7 games was the 2011 Luke Fickel debacle, and they were 6-7 with a bowl game.
