So Nebraska at Penn State at 4pm est in Happy Valley. Huskers are big dogs (again) and Penn State, imo, is probably looking to take out some frustration on somebody.
Nebraska has won all three games since joining the B1G, all fairly close exciting games, including one of the most unusual of football games in my lifetime. The first game in 46 years w/o Paterno as HC. Penalties and non-calls, some infamous, have dominated so many games in this matchup, which for not having a ton of games played, has produced some very high quality games and memorable moments.
Nebraska leads the series all time 9-7, with ten of those games occurring since 1979.

The Mrs. will be out of town this weekend, so I guess I'll take the kids out bowling (they like it a lot) and out for dinner around early second half, somewhere where it is on.
Hope Lee's ok to play.

I'm leaving the house around the 3pm kick to travel to Minneapolis, meeting friends there for dinner and drinks, then a good night's sleep before attending the Vikings/Rams game Sunday at noon.

Put me down for Penn St in this one.
It's tough to even envision a set of circumstances where they belch this one up.

I feel badly for the Nebraskans, but I don't think I will feel badly for long. Nebraska is probably just a year or two away from a return to their dominant status over the past 57 years or so, and even before that it wasn't bad for long.
Or will they be more like Texas (who spit in the eye of the rest of the Big 8/12?) Har!
(But, I don't think this compares to Texas -- Nebraska had one mediocre season -- Texas has had 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017).

I just hope Barkley gets back on track. There was an article in the last week reporting that Penn State's offensive line was basically advertising whether a play was a pass or run by the stance a couple of the linemen had before the snap. This would have the effect of letting the opposing LBs know if they need to drop into coverage or fill the gaps and stuff Barkley. Based on performance, I believe it. Now that the world knows this, I hope it has been adequately addressed in practice.

I credited Nebraska last week with not giving up. I revoke that. Losing to Minnesota is one thing. Letting Minnesota's offense have their way with you like that is completely different. Not that Riley was keeping his job anyway, but once your players have quit, it's officially done. In case you were wondering if things could get any worse, Nebraska's passing game, the one thing they still had with a dismal defense and no run game to speak of, may be without Tanner Lee. Lee left last week, and as of yesterday is still in concussion protocol. As of now, redshirt freshman Patrick O'Brien is the #1 signal caller, with true freshman Tristan Gebbia, who has never played a college game, backing him up. O'Brien saw his first meaningful action last weekend, when he replaced Lee. He looked ok, but certainly seemed uncomfortable in the pocket. I suppose that's to be expected though. I thought Rutgers was a shot for Saquon Barkley to get back on track for his Heisman candidacy, and instead it went the exact opposite way, as yet again an opponent forced McSorley to beat them, and yet again, they obliged. Barkely is only 5th in the Big Ten in rushing in conference games, averaging only 84.1 ypg, and that's with 211 yards against Iowa in the conference opener. Over the last six games? Just 63.5 rushing ypg, which wouldn't even put him in the top 10. I assume Nebraska will employ the same strategy anyway, but it's tough to see them being successful at it. Minnesota has no passing game to speak of, and yet ran all over a stacked Nebraska front, even late when they were just trying to run out the clock and Nebraska knew what was coming. This feels like one of those days. It's Senior Day, for a class (which includes Barkley, who won't be back next year) that is largely credited with getting the program back on track after the Sandusky scandal. Home crowd will be fired up, against a Nebraska team that already packed it up, and Barkley at least sends the fans off with one last big game.

It stinks we've not been able to get these two blue bloods to play at a high level at the same time the B1G envisioned when UN-L joined. First it was PSU's teams riddled by the sanctions, now it's Nebraska down and in a bit of disaray as they (assumingly) will be looking for a head coach. Hopefully these games become the must-see they should be in the future.

I'm with you all the way. Hopefully Nebraska gets this next hire right and they are back in short time. I don't think Penn State is going anywhere with Franklin. They are going to be a really good program for awhile. He's going to be a hot commodity every off-season, Penn State has got to do what they can to keep him around.

#Huskers QB Tanner Lee will be cleared to play Saturday as long as no setbacks occur between now and Saturday.
not that I think it will make much of a difference in the outcome, but.... it will be nice for the young RS freshman WR that is having a record setting season

Other quick notes following the workout:
>> Riley said "it looks like" senior David Knevel will start at right guard Saturday. The senior started the season opener at right tackle but suffered an ankle injury and has mostly played on special teams since his recovery while true freshman Brenden Jaimes eventually won the job.
Knevel will replace redshirt freshman Matt Farniok, who started the last two games at guard and also began two others at right tackle in September.
>> Safety Aaron Williams (neck) is also likely to play, Riley said, after getting through the practice week with no problems. The junior had not started three of the last four games, with Dicaprio Bootle and more recently Marquel Dismuke filling in.
>> Riley said true freshman running back Jaylin Bradley (ankle) will play this weekend.
>> Linebacker Luke Gifford had hip surgery Thursday and will likely miss the entirety of spring ball while he recovers, Riley said.
>> Tight end Connor Ketter (back) and wideout Conor Young (high ankle sprain) are also likely done for the season, Riley said.
>> Among others likely to be back this weekend are cornerback Eric Lee (concussion) and holder Zack Darlington (illness).

Nebraska-Penn State Series
• Nebraska holds a 3-0 advantage in the series since joining the Big Ten in 2011, including a 2-0 mark at Beaver Stadium.
• The Huskers own a four-game overall win streak in the series, including a victory in 2003 in Lincoln before NU joined the Big Ten.
• Penn State won four of the first five meetings in the series beteween 1920 and 1952, but NU has an 8-3 edge since.
• Nebraska and Penn State met five consecutive seasons from 1979 to 1983, with both teams ranked in each of those five meetings.
• Nebraska's three-point loss at Penn State was its only setback in a 12-1 1982 season. Penn State also finished with just one loss and captured the national title, while NU finished third in the AP poll.
• Under the original Big Ten divisional format, Nebraska and Penn State were scheduled to play each season as a protected cross-division game. That changed with the advent of the East and West Divisions in 2014.
• Following Saturday's matchup, the next scheduled meeting between the two schools is Nov. 7, 2020, in Lincoln. That will mark the Nittany Lions first visit to Memorial Stadium in eight years.
