Title: OT: Stale Pictures
Post by: Drew4UTk on March 07, 2020, 12:43:17 AM
the images that appear at the top of the main board are getting kinda... stale... used... has been.

I think there are a few over 80 of the in the sites 'inventory'.  it randomly plops them up there.  or, is supposed to.  it's a curiosity that computers seemingly doing 'random', if left to their own devices, will begin a decided pattern after a while... and then there is this thing called 'caching' which most browsers do to appear faster- so... there is a really good chance that you, like me, see the same perhaps 20 images over and over.

i thought i'd do something different and offer up opportunity for you guys to submit images to go up there?

if you want to play along, simply upload images here in this thread, or link to it.  I would appreciate file types .jpg and none else, and in the size range of 800~950px wide by 425~500px high...

anyone want to play along?  it doesn't have to be specific to games- or it could be images of games you were at (and took the pic)... or anything that fits the concept of theme.

thanks in advance for anyone who contributes!

I think this one is cool because the people on the left are in homeostasis.

very cool pic!!!

well, either use the attachment thingy on the 'full' post page, or, if they're already on the interweb somewhere just use the little button for images and post them... basically, anything but a image host such as flickr... heheheheheeee!!  they make it hard for me to collect.

Here is another, sort of cool perspective, but not sure how good it would be as a banner photo. I think this is the new disabled persons seating arrangement in the new north end zone seating.

But, at least if you are a  member, not sure for non-members, there is a download button. If you want me to email, I would have to download them from flickr, as those are my nonpersonal keeper photos, and then attach to a personal message and send to you. Tell me your preference.

nah, i figured out how to snag them... they'll be in rotation in a few minutes... thanks!!!  that last one is great... makes the place seem more driven by users than just flopping out images by major outlets, ya know?  that is precisely what i'm trying to do!

Okay, then, did you get this one. Not exactly a great action shot. But a clear one.

i've added from 85.jpg to 89.jpg tonight... what i think i'll do is go up to 99, and hopefully with a lot of contributions here, and then start overwriting 1.jpg, 2.jpg, ect... in effect 'retiring' them...

make sense?

responded, Sir...

to share with others:

the script that handles that is something a lot of designers have approached me wanting to know how... and then they're disappointed to learn it's little but a trick.

they are all background images... they're all shoved in the same directory and instead of using names they are numbers... they MUST by in .jpg format and they MUST be sequential (1-whatever number are there).

the script then offers a number between 1 and 89 (as it is now) and then adds .jpg after it.  that simple.  it's REALLY lightweight and it is built for speed, literally.  they should load really fast and a LOT faster if they were hard scripted there....

do you guys recall the first iteration of this site? it was a mess... i apologize for that... it is built for performance, now, (instead of gadgets) and it seems to be working out a lot better than that first couple series... man, those were so bad i'm surprised most of y'all didn't find somewhere else to go!!!

so... in explanation a little better: there are now 89 images in that folder... 1.jpg to 89.jpg... i'd like to have 1.jpg-99.jpg, and then if there are more offered up by y'all, i'll start overwriting the old ones... the existing 1.jpg will still be named 1.jpg, but it will be a different image... does that clarify?

This probably wouldn't work to add, then, but I'll put it here, as it is kind of cool to old history buffs. The banners don't allow for attribution.

I would choose mostly OLD B&W photos of guys back in the day before face masks, when men were men.  And all that.

The tech who showed up to fix my HVAC saw my office and asked if I was a Marine.  He was.  The funny thing, I could tell from his demeanor he was.  Jonathon, he was all Yes, Sir and No, Sir.

almost all of these images are now in the rotation, but i discovered an issue.

caches are a thing that makes computers seem faster... files that 'don't change' are prime candidates for caching, and images are the primary file cached.  they are set up to be revalued once a year on this server.  so... i started overwriting the files- using same name, different file.. well, the issue with that is your computer has likely cached the file name and image, so you'll keep seeing the same images (for the ones i've overwritten) because they are stored either on your computer or your cloud...

'cache busting' is a big issue with web design.

the simplest thing to do if you want to see the new images is open an incognito browser which doesn't rely on cache's but instead downloads fresh files every time.  but, that ain't no fun... so... instead of overwriting from this point forward i'll just start adding to the number of files for the random generator to choose from.

keep 'em coming!!!

i got bored... for those of you who've posted in this thread, well... most of you who provided a pic- go check out your profiles... i've been overhauling that very little used section of the site.

That was his nickname, and FRANCIS SCHMIDT earned it by running up the score with a dazzling offense. Even though he coached his way into college football’s HALL OF FAME, few Nebraska fans seem aware of this innovative and eccentric FORMER CORNHUSKER.

“Schmidt’s teams did everything with the football but turn it inside out,” a Pittsburgh columnist once wrote. “Double and triple laterals sped in all directions. Forward passes filled the air. There were spreads that defied the imagination.”

At NU, 1906

At Arkansas

At TCU
Schmidt’s handiwork did far more than turn sportswriters agog. Sid Gillman, considered the father of the modern passing game, called Schmidt his greatest influence. And the I formation is said to be Schmidt's creation.

When unbeaten Notre Dame came to Lincoln in 1922 for a sold-out Thanksgiving Day showdown with the Huskers, what was a ticketless fan to do? Radio was not yet an option, as commercial AM broadcasting in the state was in its very infancy. But there was a way, even if it meant actually getting off the sofa and venturing out of the house.

As the two items at right describe it, a system was in place that involved a phone line, a megaphone, and one or more presumably leather-lunged newspaper employees. During the game, the outcome of each play was relayed by phone from Nebraska Field to the offices of the Lincoln State Journal. The play description then was barked out to the crowd gathered outside the newspaper’s Ninth Street window.

Perhaps to protect ticket sales, this service was ordinarily used only for road games. In those cases, the play descriptions came to the newspaper via teletype or telegraph instead of telephone, but the crowd outside got the same megaphone delivery. Even if there was no “Man, woman and child!” or “Whoah, Nellie!”, it was exciting, it was a party, and everyone was invited.

Nebraska fans weren’t the only ones to follow games this way. In Ann Arbor, for example, a similar but more elaborate Grid-graph system let Michigan partisans listen to road games in the comfort of an auditorium. As the plays were shouted out, a lighted board tracked the movement of the ball -- a little like today’s online “live stats” graphics. (The Omaha World-Herald used a similar system into the 1930s.) In Lincoln, the Grid-graph was used at the Armory for 1923 road games. Admission: 25 cents.

Meanwhile, outside the Lincoln newspaper offices, the play-by-play service was free to anyone within earshot of the megaphone. The Journal and Star were separate newspapers waging a pitched battle, and the Star threw play-by-play parties of its own. If one paper suffered a technical glitch, the other was quick to rub it in, as the Journal ad at left illustrates. (It appeared the day after the 1922 game at Syracuse.)

The play-by-play information was also put to use for the paying reader in the next day’s paper. The game coverage would include a lengthy narrative mentioning every play, and there might also be a drive chart, like the one at right, which also accounted for the ball’s every movement.

Frank Dailey heads for the goal line with his first-quarter interception.

“Stop Grange, and we win.” That was the thinking of new Nebraska coach Ernest Bearg going into the 1925 opener against his former employer, Illinois, and its electrifying halfback, Harold “Red” Grange.

Easier said than done, but on this October day on the Illini’s rain-soaked home field, Bearg’s plan was executed beautifully. NU had a future Hall-of-Famer of its own, tackle Ed Weir, and the senior captain led a charge which over and over again halted the Galloping Ghost before he could get started.

Stop Grange they did, and win they did. The final: Nebraska 14, Illinois 0.

Grange, starting his third and final season for Illinois, never got close to the end zone, and he couldn’t uncork any of his usual newsreel-worthy open-field jaunts. He finished with a little more than three yards per carry.

The Associated Press reported: “Grange, unable to pierce the magnificent Nebraska defense and thwarted in his efforts to circle the ends, was taken out of the game a few seconds after the start of the fourth period broken and crushed. As the noted player, covered with mud from head to foot, walked to the sidelines, tears gathered in his eyes and he fell into the waiting arms of his comrades.”

Asked how he had done it, Weir stated simply: “I just saw which way he was running, and I ran after him and tackled him.” Tackle Lon Stiner, center Harold Hutchinson and end Joe Weir also were credited with key roles in shutting down the Iceman, who was running behind a relatively green line.

On the game’s opening possession, NU failed to muster a first down, and Grange returned Ed Weir’s punt 15 yards to set up the Illini at their own 35. But three plays later, Cornhusker fullback Frank Dailey intercepted a Grange pass and raced into the end zone, sidestepping Grange along the way, to give Nebraska a 7-0 lead.

The middle two quarters saw neither team able to mount much of a scoring threat. One exception was a Nebraska possession that penetrated the Illinois 30 but ended with a dropkick by John “Jug” Brown that went wide.

In the fourth period, after Grange had departed, NU guard Walter Scholz intercepted an Illinois pass to put the Huskers in business around the Illini 40. On the next play, halfback John “Choppy” Rhodes broke free off right tackle and kept going until he was forced out of bounds inside the 5. Two plays later, Rhodes got the touchdown on a 2-yard run.

(https://www.huskermax.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/iowa_masterson.jpg) Bernie Masterson scoops up the ball before scampering for Nebraska’s only touchdown.

1933

The Huskers were without their biggest star, George Sauer, but they did have some good fortune on their side. On an extremely windy day at Memorial Stadium, Nebraska beat Iowa, 7-6, thanks largely to three kicking-game miscues — one of them the Cornhuskers’ own flub.

Near the end of the first half, Nebraska took over at the Iowa 29 yard line after the Hawkeyes’ Dick Crayne, attempting to punt, bobbled the snap and then completely missed the ball when he swung his leg. Three Husker running plays later, Nebraska had a first down at the Iowa 4, but the Hawkeyes stiffened. With 11 seconds left in the half, Nebraska opted for a field goal attempt on fourth down. Halfback Jack Miller was the holder, quarterback Bernie Masterson the kicker. The Sunday Journal and Star described what unfolded:

After a bit of confusion Bernie and Jack dropped back, doffed their helmets and assumed a place-kicking position. Back came the snapback, it squirmed from Miller’s grasp and Bernie darted forward, yanked the oval from the ground, wheeled and started a mad dash around the Iowa right end. He angled into the end zone, arriving just in time before he would have been forced out of bounds, a Hawkeye bumping him as they sprawled into the promised land with Bernie clutching six valuable points.

When Nebraska players went No. 1, 7 and 8 in the 1937 NFL draft, it must’ve been big news, right?

Not exactly. The 10-team league wasn’t the gold mine it is today, and it wasn’t unusual for top players to choose other careers. Though the league had been around for 15 seasons, this was just the second NFL draft.

So when Nebraska’s Sam Francis went No. 1, followed soon after by Lloyd Cardwell and Les McDonald, the Sunday Journal and Star gave the story a scant five paragraphs on the second sports page. Much bigger news was that the very same Husker trio had been selected for the East-West all-star game. The draft was also upstaged by Francis’ selection as a first-team All-American.

Yet what happened on Dec. 12, 1936 – the actual date of the ’37 draft – has never quite been matched in Husker history. In 1972, there were three first-rounders, but none was a top-ten pick. And while the 1984 draft saw Irving Fryar and Dean Steinkuhler go first and second, there was no third top-ten pick for the Huskers – but perhaps only because Mike Rozier had opted for the USFL. (He would be selected No. 2 in a special supplemental draft a month after the main draft.)

  JONES

Minnesota, on a quest for a fourth consecutive mythical national championship, met its match on an 82-degree October afternoon in Lincoln. Playing tough and opportunistic football, the Cornhuskers stunned the Gophers, 14-9, in the Nebraska coaching debut of Maj. Lawrence McCeney “Biff” Jones.

Minnesota ran up a three-to-one advantage in yardage, but Nebraska kept the Gophers out of the end zone for the final 55 minutes and cashed in on two key turnovers.

HIGH-SCORING 1950 TEAM STRUGGLED MIGHTILY IN APRIL
13-13 tie vs. the alums is a prime example of how spring games don’t always tell us much

Of Nebraska’s five dozen officially recognized spring games, the very first one – 60 years ago today – surely ranks as one of the least accurate foreshadowers of the fall season.

The Varsity struggled to a 13-13 tie against a patchwork Alumni team that was expected to lose by several touchdowns. Who on that day could have predicted the offensive fireworks that would unfold six months later?

Twenty-three years old, he was making $3,600 a year and living in a dorm (http://books.google.com/books?id=PE2QNYj1cVkC&lpg=PA54&pg=PA54#v=onepage&q&f=false) as he served as Rip Engle's quarterbacks coach. With the ink barely dry on his English literature degree from Brown University, he had an eye on going to law school. As for coaching, he said decades later: "I was only going to do it for a year or two, and then I got the bug."
It's a bug he hasn't shaken for 60 years. His first game at Memorial Stadium as head coach came in 1979 (https://www.huskermax.com/games/1979/03pennstate.html); his most recent was in 2003 (https://www.huskermax.com/games/2003/pennstate03.html). Time will tell whether he'll be back in Lincoln when the Huskers host Penn State for the first time as a conference opponent. Earlier this month, as questions about his physical health and mental sharpness swirled, he rattled off some off-the-cuff details (http://web.archive.org/web/20100829075744if_/https://www.omaha.com/article/20100802/sports/708029850/0/) about this long-ago game in Lincoln.    — J. “CHAMPIONS OF PENNSYLVANIA”

While far from a rousing success, the Bill Jennings era at Nebraska, from 1957 to 1961, did have its moments. Two of the almost-forgotten ones came in his second season as head coach, when the sophomore-studded 1958 team upset a couple of traditional Eastern powers and could lay claim to the unofficial championship of Pennsylvania.
The Huskers were in the midst of a two-season stretch in which they never scored as many as three TDs in a single game. The 1957 team had averaged just 6.7 points per game in a 1-9 season. The 1958 team wouldn't do much better, at 7.1 points per game, but in these two stunning wins, the Huskers were able to score 14 and make it stand up.
Sports Illustrated, in its preseason assessment (https://www.si.com/vault/1958/09/22/568828/the-midwest), said the Cornhuskers were “loaded with desire but not much else.” Actually, Nebraska had a couple of sophomores who would have long pro careers as defensive players, Ron McDole and Pat Fischer.
Take a moment now to revisit the 1958 Penn State (https://www.huskermax.com/games/1958/01pennstate58.html) and Pittsburgh (https://www.huskermax.com/games/1958/09pittsburgh58.html) games, with big moments provided by Fischer, Carroll Zaruba, Larry Naviaux and a host of others.

Cornhusker fans had to be giddy over Gale Sayers’ dazzling four-touchdown performance in the state high school Shrine Game in August 1961. In just a few weeks, he was due to enroll at Nebraska. Surely he would bring Memorial Stadium crowds to their feet in the seasons to come.

1961 SPRING GAME
Stunned by a spectacular scoring scamper late in the first half by newly minted alum Pat Fischer, the Varsity went into the locker room trailing the Alumni 14-13 in Nebraska’s annual spring game. But the Varsity had a Thunder bolt of its own and pulled away in the second half for a 35-20 victory over the graybeards.
Intermittent rain showers fell as 6,000 fans witnessed the scoring show at Memorial Stadium. To give all 56 of his troops significant playing time, coach Bill Jennings ordered 18-minute quarters.

Soph. Joe Walker may not have had a great day defending Troy Edwards that day, but he did have a 99 yard kickoff return for TD!
I named the image "edwards400"

This left out the most important thing that Francis Schmidt did. As the new coach of the Buckeyes in 1934, he was asked about beating UM and he made the comment that they put their pants on one leg at a time just like we do.  They ended up beating UM 34-0 that season and all the players were given a gold pants charm and the tradition was started that every player who beats Michigan get the gold pants.

He must've known about UM's talent exodus.  Easy to be prophetic when you know something most everyone else doesn't.

I was there.  It was hot, muggy, Edwards also had some nice kick returns.  He looked like he was going to collapse and die after the game.  They still lost by 29.  Rattay threw for 590.

1922 HUSKERS’ BRAWN BEATS NOTRE DAME’S FINESSE

JACK BEST
Before kickoff, fans paid tribute to Jack Best, Nebraska’s beloved athletic trainer and a fixture on campus since 1888 (https://www.huskermax.com/pastnews/week/2013_01_20.html). It was no secret that the big-hearted Englishman hadn’t much longer to live.
As the Omaha World-Herald described it:

He was carried to the sidelines in an automobile decorated in Nebraska colors. The sight of the Grand Old Man brought the immense crowd to its feet and the stands thundered out:
“He’s the man.
“Who’s the man?
“He’s a Nebraska man — Jack Best!”
And it was then that the old trainer, with tears in his eyes, doffed his hat and waved a response to the throng.
Then the game. Jack said it was great. To see his boys triumph over their ancient enemy!

Best’s presence in the locker room (https://www.huskermax.com/1940-jack-best-story-nebraska-football-trainer/) before the game was said to be an inspiration (https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/deep-red-speech-sparked-nu-in/article_ba68092b-704f-51b8-96b8-6dde88bc7a09.amp.html) to the players that afternoon.
Best died less than two months later at age 77. Classes at the university were canceled the afternoon of services, which were attended by more than 2,000 at the Armory. For more than 20 years ending in 1949, the Jack Best Trophy was awarded to the top fraternity in intramural athletics.

From left: Notre Dame’s Miller, Layden, Crowley and Stuhldreher in 1923.

Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne said afterward, “We were beaten by the most powerful driving team I have seen in many years. No one could have stopped Noble today.” … Irish sophomores Stuhldreher, Miller, Layden and Crowley would go down in lore as the Four Horsemen. Their only other collegiate defeat would come against the 1923 Huskers. ...
Nebraska’s No. 1 quarterback, Glen Preston, watched from the sideline with a leg fracture suffered in a scrimmage two weeks earlier. … Nebraska captain Harold “Chick” Hartley broke his nose early in game but played on; ditto for Notre Dame’s Glen Carberry with a broken finger, which he taped to an adjoining one. ...
Nebraska kicked off to open both halves. … Each team punted on first down two times. … Notable attendees included coach Amos Alonzo Stagg of the University of Chicago and Gen. John J. Pershing. … Hundreds of fans without tickets (https://history.nebraska.gov/blog/huskers-thanksgiving-1922-and-four-horsemen-notre-dame) watched from rooftops, tree limbs and the coal pile behind the east end zone. … At a pep rally the night before, team captain Hartley urged fans to refrain from destroying the fences and bleachers in the event of a victory. … The Irish were considered slight favorites by oddsmakers. ...
Verne Lewellen was elected 1923 captain shortly after the game. … Andy Schoeppel was elected governor of Kansas 20 years later, and he also would serve in the U.S. Senate. … The Huskers’ only blemish during their 7-1 season (https://www.huskermax.com/allgames/1922.html) was a 9-6 loss at Syracuse in early November. … The Huskers finished 60-11-4 at Nebraska Field, starting with a tie against Iowa on Oct. 23, 1909.

I love the sports-writer hyperbole of the 1920s.  From what I can tell, Nebraska first played Notre Dame in 1916.  Yet, by 1922, the Irish were the "ancient enemy."
The 1920s were one heckuva decade.  Came in on the aftermath of World War I and the world-wide pandemic that killed up to 100 million people (up to 675,000 of them Americans) and went out with the opening shocks of what would become the Great Depression.
In between came one big blowout where everything was the biggest, the greatest, the fastest, the strongest, the drunkest, the richest, the most of everything.  Grantland Rice and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse outlined against a blue-gray October sky led the way for sports-writers.

That one loss to Iowa State has got to be the biggest upset ever, just by feel.  I know there were bigger upsets by point spread or whatever, but it was the most out of felt field upset.  Like you assumed the TV graphic was wrong or something.  It didn't even register that it could be accurate.

Oct. 24, 1892 – Lincoln, NE

Nebraska got its first win over an out-of-state opponent as George Flippin’s early touchdown held up for a 6-0 victory over Illinois in Lincoln. There were hard feelings, however, as Illinois’ George Huff reportedly punched Nebraska’s Albin Jones in the face after the final whistle and disappeared into the crowd. Huff would serve as Illinois’ athletic director from 1901 to 1935.

Jim Thorpe is second from left, top row, in this photo of the Carlisle team that appeared in the Omaha Bee several days before the game. It is probably the 1907 team, however.

It was a big deal when Jim Thorpe and the 1908 Carlisle Indians came to Lincoln in early December.

Though not yet an Olympic hero, Thorpe was a budding legend on the gridiron in his second season with the Pennsylvania school. The Indians were gaining a mystique by going toe to toe with the top programs of the era — and often coming out on top. In October, they battled the season’s mythical national champion, Penn, to a 6-6 tie.

In some circles, they were derided as a de-facto professional team. Nebraska’s faculty, in fact, protested the late addition of Carlisle to the schedule. “The school, the faculty charged, had gone crassly commercial,” wrote the Omaha World-Herald’s Frederick Ware in a 1940 history of NU football.

But fans weren’t about to protest. Anywhere from 2,500 to 5,000 of them showed up on a cold Wednesday afternoon at Antelope Park, the Cornhuskers’ temporary home field for the season, to see how Nebraska stacked up against coach Glenn “Pop” Warner’s squad.

NOTES: About 50 American Indians from the reservations of Nebraska and South Dakota came to Lincoln to see “the vaunted redskins from the east,” the Omaha Bee reported. During the game, “many of these Indians, together with the subs of the Carlisle team, huddled together along the north side lines, wrapped in colored blankets, until it looked like a real Indian pow pow.” ... The game was the Indians’ ninth in a row away from Carlisle. Their final home game of the season was in September.

Here is a view of the action from the west end zone at Nebraska Field NOVEMBER 25, 1911. This turned out to be Michigan’s only visit to Nebraska in the Cornhuskers’ first 122 seasons of football.

_________________________________________________ _______________________

Michigan and Nebraska battled to a hard-fought tie, but it was the Cornhuskers who won the bragging rights.

Various press accounts agreed that Nebraska had the upper hand on this Saturday before Thanksgiving. NU rolled up 302 total yards to 125 for Michigan and led 21-7 in first downs. Still, the Cornhuskers, like Michigan, could not score without the help of a big break in the punting game.

It was NU’s first-ever Homecoming game. A record crowd packed the stands at Nebraska Field, and Gov. Chester H. Aldrich was on hand to perform a ceremonial kickoff. The Wolverines were among the nation’s elite, having claimed a pair of consensus national championships in the previous decade, and they were given the royal treatment upon their arrival in Lincoln by train.

The game matched two legendary coaches. “Jumbo” Stiehm still owns NU’s best career winning percentage (.913). Michigan’s Fielding Yost, a one-time coach at Nebraska (1898), is in college football’s Hall of Fame. Before the game, Yost publicly bemoaned his team’s injuries.

Strong line play was a pleasant surprise as Nebraska opened with a 19-0 win over Washburn in the mud in Lincoln.

Oct. 18, 1913

A 12-yard pass from quarterback Max Towle to end Gordon Beck late in the third quarter provided the only touchdown (shown in photo) as Nebraska upset Minnesota 7-0 in Lincoln. A fourth-quarter thrust by the Gophers reached the Nebraska 10 but ended with a fumble. Nebraska also turned back repeated Minnesota threats in the first quarter before a 60-yard punt by the Cornhuskers’ Warren Howard erased the Gophers’ field-position advantage.

Here's a cleaner version of that picture, claimed by ExplorPaHistory.com to be the 1908 team.

Dwight Eisenhower played against Thorpe in 1912 when Army hosted Carlisle.  He later said, "Here and there, there are some people who are supremely endowed. My memory goes back to Jim Thorpe. He never practiced in his life, and he could do anything better than any other football player I ever saw."
So Thorpe, who was born near what is now Prague, OK, played for Carlisle in 1908 and in 1912.  He dropped out of school for awhile after his father died.

Here's the 1911 Carlisle team photo.  Jim Thorpe is 3rd from the right, middle row.  Pop Warner is of course in the back row.

People would sit on the embankment to the top left and watch games for free until 1981 when that end was enclosed.  Folks could also watch from the bridge lower right (when it was constructed), when I was a student they charged a bit to stand on the bridge.  That bridge traverse a valley that separates older North Campus (liberal arts, law school) and South (STEM, pharmacy, etc.)  I have hoofed it across that bridge many times because we only had 15 minutes between classes and Germans was in extreme north campus.  The field orientation if E-W which is fairly rare.  There is a small creek that runs under the field.

Well, I suppose we could play that game, but I'd think the answer in this case is obvious.  This is a more recent view.

Yeah, I went to UNC also, I forgot about that.  I saw exactly zero football games in 4.5 years there.

I've seen one game there.  I think it was the '82 UNC-Army game.  Tarheels won a whole bunch to not very many.

It's kinda on my list, if they have a season this fall I might try and make a game.  UNC might be decent this year, like 8-4 or 9-3, they were decent last year.  Mack has them playing football again.  They were soft before him.

Larry Fedora must have been the Sta-Puft Marshmallow man, because Mack Brown is not known for being a reincarnation of Bear Bryant at the Junction, Texas, training camp.

Any time I watched them under Fedora, they couldn't tackle, had bad technique even I could see.  They also had a LOT of injuries, which I think may have been due to practices that were not enough hard contact.

Didn't Fedora get into a mix up after publicly doubting the connection between CTE and football.   He was decried as a meathead,  etc.
