Ohio State - Obviously
Penn State - Next weekend's game will be interesting
Minnesota - Now we'll find out how good they are
Michigan - Didn't play great today but still won convincingly
Wisconsin - Should win the next 3 weeks before they play for The Axe.
Iowa - Can they beat Wisconsin or Minnesota? I'm skeptical
Michigan State - I'll be intrigued to see how they do against Illinois....
Indiana - Have benefitted greatly from a weak schedule. We'll see how they finish....
Illinois - Not great, but the best of the rest
Purdue - Give them credit for not quitting on their season
Nebraska - Just a trainwreck now
Maryland - Can't even brag about that Syracuse win at this point
Northwestern - From bad to worse. At least they still have UMass on their schedule.
Rutgers - Still the worst

1. Ohio State

4. Michigan

Moved Northwestern down one. Moved Nebraska down two spots. Moved Indiana up above MSU.

I have a hard time squaring Indiana's spot placed below MSU. MSU defeated Indiana; but MSU is 4-4 whereas Indiana is 7-2.  I expect Indiana to finish 8-4. I expect MSU to finish either 6-6, or 7-5. If MSU defeats Illinois next week, I might advance them up.

I am too, but Iowa will likely defeat one of these teams; more likely to beat Minnesota than Wisconsin.

I am of the belief the BTW comes down to the Minnesota-Wisconsin game, if Iowa tags Minnesota with a loss. Who doesn't want to see a repeat of Ohio State - Wisconsin? Me!

Iowa's defense will keep it in every game and give Iowa a chance to win each game.  Iowa's offense will keep their opponent in every game and give the other team a chance.

Most likely, Iowa will finish 2-2 against Wiscy, Minny, ILL and Neb.  But it's not certain who the 2 wins and 2 losses will come against.

Indiana is quietly having a good year at 7-2 (3-2) and I know the boom is about to fall, but they have a very good shot at 8-4.

Minnesota has a decent shot at 10-2, which would be a good year also and a possible NY6 bowl game, or very good other bowl game.  They do face three ranked teams out of the last 4, so we'll find out if they are an illusion quickly.

1. OSU: No change at the top, this team gets Maryland and Rutgers before finishing with Penn State and Michigan.  Not a lot of question marks other than can they continue to sustain the success they've had.

2. PSU: Going on the road for a showdown in Minnesota.  Don't often hear that, but I'm looking forward to it.  It's a tough stretch with the Gophs, then Hoosiers, then OSU before finishing the season with Rutgers.

3. Wisconsin: Looking to find the form that had them a playoff contender, and they welcome Iowa this week.

4. Michigan: Not the dominant effort I expected, but all's well that ends well.  I said in another thread it's tough to trust this team.  As soon as you feel confident about them the bottom falls out.  Maybe constantly looking shaky is the key to their success.

5. Minnesota: Finally playing a good team and I'm here to see what happens.

6. Iowa: Travels to Wisconsin with a shot to get back in this thing.

7. Indiana: Might get a few top 25 votes?

8. Michigan State: Welcome Illinois to see if Sparty can put something together to end the season.

9. Illinois: Lovie on a roll.

10. Purdue: Nice win overcoming all their injuries.

11. Nebraska: Disappointment

12. Maryland: Didn't look horrible against Michigan, but also not good.

13. Northwestern: What a lost season

14. Rutgers: Nope

1 Buckeyes
2 Nittany Lions
3 Badgers
4 Wolverines
5 Hawkeyes
6 Golden Gophers
7 Spartans
8 Hoosiers
9 Fighting Illini
10 Boiler Makers
11 Corn Huskers
12 Terrapins
13 Scarlet Knights
14 Wildcats

Last week's rankings, only with some minor shuffling with regards to Illinois, Nebraska and Purdue. All three have gone 1-1 vs each other, rock paper scissors style, so I wrote off the Nebraska win over Illinois as "ancient history" as the last two weeks have seen Illinois blow out Purdue, who went onto beat Nebraska.

I suspect a bit of a shakeup this time next week.  Gophs and Hawks both get a chance to make a move, while Penn State and Wisconsin look to hold  serve.

Frost is losing his team.  He won’t lose more than that this year, but there are some grumblings in Lincoln.

Those teams "in the middle" would probably beat each other randomly if they played.  Would you favor Minnesota over MSU?

1. Ohio State - Bye
2. Penn State - Bye
---

3. Wisconsin - Bye
4. Michigan - Looked a little shaky at times, but was too much for the Terps.
5. Minnesota  - Bye
6. Iowa - Bye
7. Michigan State - Bye
8. Indiana - Not sure that I would pick them on a neutral field over any team about them, but they have beaten the teams they should have.
---

9.  Illinois - If they keep playing like this, they could move up to the next tier.
10. Purdue - Freshmen are getting a lot of good game time experience. Should help them next year.
11. Nebraska - Its sad how bad this team is playing. They've thrown in the towel.
12. Maryland - Put of a good fight but didn't have the horsepower to play with TTUN.
13. Northwestern - What a difference a year makes.
14. Rutgers - They played hard for a half, then realized they are Rutgers.

A lot of people have Minnesota ranked higher than I do, but I just haven't seen enough to justify that yet.  One problem is that I still consider Michigan and Iowa to be so close together that I can't justify putting the Gophers between them.  Thus, I think that they should either be fourth (between #3 UW and #5 M) or sixth (between #5 IA and #7 MSU).  I haven't seen enough to move them to #4 yet but we'll see how they do this weekend with #2 PSU.

As an Ohio State fan, I don't want to see that either.

Oddly, I think there is a danger of Ohio State basically overlooking the B1GCG.  It feels weird to even type that, but remember that if the Buckeyes make it, they will be coming in off of back-to-back games against Penn State and Michigan.  Penn State is currently undefeated and ranked #5 while Michigan is ranked #14.  It is entirely possible that the Buckeyes could play a HUMONGOUS top-4 gameday game with PSU, then turn around the next week and play a top-10 game with their biggest rival.  If the game after that is against a team that the Buckeyes already beat by 31 points it might be difficult to get everyone focused and that is a recipe for disaster.  Assuming the Buckeyes make it, I think it would be much better for them to play a team that they haven't previously defeated and preferably a highly ranked team that is hard to overlook.

1) Ohio State: unless PSU proves differently.
2) Penn State: for now, undefeated with quality wins gets them this spot.
3) Wisconsin: head to head over Michigan, and it's not as though it was close--but better be ready this weekend, or the start of the season will be forgotten in the ash heap of history.
4) Michigan: looking like what its fans expected before the season.
5) Iowa: with a chance to move up--and Wisconsin down--this weekend.
6) Michigan State: its conference losses are to the top three teams in the conference. Shouldn't be dinged too much for that.
7) Minnesota: unbeaten and on a nice little roll (against bad teams).
8) Illinois: best win among the remainder.
9) Indiana: looks legitimately ok.
10) Purdue: signs of life in win.
11) Nebraska: head-to-head over Northwestern.
12) Northwestern: not good.
13) Maryland: really not good.
14) Rutgers: Rutgers.

I get the the Gophers don't have "brand name" but as an Ohio State fan I would be more worried about a rematch.  Rematches just scare me when my team won the first game.

Results posted, votes through @SFBadger96 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=51) , 15 voters.

Not a lot of change this week:

We are probably primed for a big weekend of upsets because a lot of teams have settled into their spot:

This week's games:

As an Ohio State fan I'm obviously interested in the game in Columbus but that shouldn't be too dramatic.  The other four are all pretty good matchups:

Penn State/Minnesota:
Either team would still control their own destiny to the B1GCG with a loss and this game could end up being a B1GCG preview but this game is important nonetheless.  I think the big question to be answered here is just how good are the Gophers?

Wisconsin/Iowa:
The loser is practically eliminated from the race for the B1GCG while the winner will control their own destiny provided that Penn State takes out Minnesota.

MSU/Illinois:
The Spartans are coming off of a brutal stretch in which they got shellacked by the #1, #2, and #3 teams over the past month while Illinois is looking great with three straight wins.  The Illini had the big upset of Wisconsin but other than that their B1G wins have come against #10 and #14 while their losses were to #4, #5, and #11.  That isn't great.  Can MSU rebound from that brutal stretch?

Purdue/Northwestern:
The Boilermakers need to win out to get to 6-6 and ensure bowl eligibility.  To even have a chance they need to go 5-7 and that is REALLY unlikely if they lose this because this is their easiest remaining game.  They REALLY need a win here.

So interesting that CFP commitee thinks PSU is #4 in the country and I am still debating with myself if PSU is even better than Wisconsin.

Part of me stil wants to put Wisconsin at #2 even though I ended up putting Wiscy at #3 behind PSU.  I guess the games this Saturday will help give me clarity

So far Penn State and Wisconsin only have two common opponents and Wisconsin did better against both:

Between now and the end of the season they will add four more common opponents:
