Penn State - Next weekend's game will be interesting
Minnesota - Now we'll find out how good they are
Michigan - Didn't play great today but still won convincingly
Wisconsin - Should win the next 3 weeks before they play for The Axe.
Iowa - Can they beat Wisconsin or Minnesota? I'm skeptical
Michigan State - I'll be intrigued to see how they do against Illinois....
Indiana - Have benefitted greatly from a weak schedule. We'll see how they finish....
Illinois - Not great, but the best of the rest
Purdue - Give them credit for not quitting on their season
Nebraska - Just a trainwreck now
Maryland - Can't even brag about that Syracuse win at this point
Northwestern - From bad to worse. At least they still have UMass on their schedule.
Rutgers - Still the worst

Moved Northwestern down one. Moved Nebraska down two spots. Moved Indiana up above MSU.
I have a hard time squaring Indiana's spot placed below MSU. MSU defeated Indiana; but MSU is 4-4 whereas Indiana is 7-2. I expect Indiana to finish 8-4. I expect MSU to finish either 6-6, or 7-5. If MSU defeats Illinois next week, I might advance them up.

I am too, but Iowa will likely defeat one of these teams; more likely to beat Minnesota than Wisconsin.
I am of the belief the BTW comes down to the Minnesota-Wisconsin game, if Iowa tags Minnesota with a loss. Who doesn't want to see a repeat of Ohio State - Wisconsin? Me!

I am of the belief the BTW comes down to the Minnesota-Wisconsin game, if Iowa tags Minnesota with a loss. Who doesn't want to see a repeat of Ohio State - Wisconsin? Me!
Iowa's defense will keep it in every game and give Iowa a chance to win each game. Iowa's offense will keep their opponent in every game and give the other team a chance.
Most likely, Iowa will finish 2-2 against Wiscy, Minny, ILL and Neb. But it's not certain who the 2 wins and 2 losses will come against.

Indiana is quietly having a good year at 7-2 (3-2) and I know the boom is about to fall, but they have a very good shot at 8-4.
Minnesota has a decent shot at 10-2, which would be a good year also and a possible NY6 bowl game, or very good other bowl game. They do face three ranked teams out of the last 4, so we'll find out if they are an illusion quickly.

1. OSU: No change at the top, this team gets Maryland and Rutgers before finishing with Penn State and Michigan. Not a lot of question marks other than can they continue to sustain the success they've had.
2. PSU: Going on the road for a showdown in Minnesota. Don't often hear that, but I'm looking forward to it. It's a tough stretch with the Gophs, then Hoosiers, then OSU before finishing the season with Rutgers.
3. Wisconsin: Looking to find the form that had them a playoff contender, and they welcome Iowa this week.
4. Michigan: Not the dominant effort I expected, but all's well that ends well. I said in another thread it's tough to trust this team. As soon as you feel confident about them the bottom falls out. Maybe constantly looking shaky is the key to their success.
5. Minnesota: Finally playing a good team and I'm here to see what happens.
6. Iowa: Travels to Wisconsin with a shot to get back in this thing.
7. Indiana: Might get a few top 25 votes?
8. Michigan State: Welcome Illinois to see if Sparty can put something together to end the season.
9. Illinois: Lovie on a roll.
10. Purdue: Nice win overcoming all their injuries.
11. Nebraska: Disappointment
12. Maryland: Didn't look horrible against Michigan, but also not good.
13. Northwestern: What a lost season

Last week's rankings, only with some minor shuffling with regards to Illinois, Nebraska and Purdue. All three have gone 1-1 vs each other, rock paper scissors style, so I wrote off the Nebraska win over Illinois as "ancient history" as the last two weeks have seen Illinois blow out Purdue, who went onto beat Nebraska.

I suspect a bit of a shakeup this time next week. Gophs and Hawks both get a chance to make a move, while Penn State and Wisconsin look to hold serve.
Frost is losing his team. He won’t lose more than that this year, but there are some grumblings in Lincoln.

A lot of people have Minnesota ranked higher than I do, but I just haven't seen enough to justify that yet. One problem is that I still consider Michigan and Iowa to be so close together that I can't justify putting the Gophers between them. Thus, I think that they should either be fourth (between #3 UW and #5 M) or sixth (between #5 IA and #7 MSU). I haven't seen enough to move them to #4 yet but we'll see how they do this weekend with #2 PSU.

As an Ohio State fan, I don't want to see that either.
Oddly, I think there is a danger of Ohio State basically overlooking the B1GCG. It feels weird to even type that, but remember that if the Buckeyes make it, they will be coming in off of back-to-back games against Penn State and Michigan. Penn State is currently undefeated and ranked #5 while Michigan is ranked #14. It is entirely possible that the Buckeyes could play a HUMONGOUS top-4 gameday game with PSU, then turn around the next week and play a top-10 game with their biggest rival. If the game after that is against a team that the Buckeyes already beat by 31 points it might be difficult to get everyone focused and that is a recipe for disaster. Assuming the Buckeyes make it, I think it would be much better for them to play a team that they haven't previously defeated and preferably a highly ranked team that is hard to overlook.

9) Indiana: looks legitimately ok.
10) Purdue: signs of life in win.
11) Nebraska: head-to-head over Northwestern.
12) Northwestern: not good.
13) Maryland: really not good.
14) Rutgers: Rutgers.

I get the the Gophers don't have "brand name" but as an Ohio State fan I would be more worried about a rematch. Rematches just scare me when my team won the first game.

Not a lot of change this week:
- Illinois was up 1/2 a spot from tied for 9th/10th to alone in 9th.
- Purdue was up a spot from 11th to 10th.
- Nebraska was done a spot and a half from tied for 9th/10th to 11th alone.
- Maryland was up a spot from 13th to 12th.
- Northwestern was down a spot from 12th to 13th.
We are probably primed for a big weekend of upsets because a lot of teams have settled into their spot:
- Rutgers has been last all year.
- Ohio State has been first since breaking a 1/2 preseason tie in week 1.
- Michigan has been fourth since week 6.
- Minnesota has been fifth since week 7.
- Iowa has been sixth since week 7.
- Michigan State has been seventh since week 7.
- Indiana has been eighth since week 7.
This week's games:
- #1 Ohio State vs #12 Maryland
- #2 Penn State at #5 Minnesota
- #3 Wisconsin vs #6 Iowa
- #4 Michigan is off
- #7 Michigan State vs #9 Illinois

As an Ohio State fan I'm obviously interested in the game in Columbus but that shouldn't be too dramatic. The other four are all pretty good matchups:
Penn State/Minnesota:
Either team would still control their own destiny to the B1GCG with a loss and this game could end up being a B1GCG preview but this game is important nonetheless. I think the big question to be answered here is just how good are the Gophers?
Wisconsin/Iowa:
The loser is practically eliminated from the race for the B1GCG while the winner will control their own destiny provided that Penn State takes out Minnesota.
MSU/Illinois:
The Spartans are coming off of a brutal stretch in which they got shellacked by the #1, #2, and #3 teams over the past month while Illinois is looking great with three straight wins. The Illini had the big upset of Wisconsin but other than that their B1G wins have come against #10 and #14 while their losses were to #4, #5, and #11. That isn't great. Can MSU rebound from that brutal stretch?
Purdue/Northwestern:
The Boilermakers need to win out to get to 6-6 and ensure bowl eligibility. To even have a chance they need to go 5-7 and that is REALLY unlikely if they lose this because this is their easiest remaining game. They REALLY need a win here.

So interesting that CFP commitee thinks PSU is #4 in the country and I am still debating with myself if PSU is even better than Wisconsin.
Part of me stil wants to put Wisconsin at #2 even though I ended up putting Wiscy at #3 behind PSU. I guess the games this Saturday will help give me clarity

So far Penn State and Wisconsin only have two common opponents and Wisconsin did better against both:
- Wisconsin beat Michigan by 21, Penn State beat them by 7.
- Wisconsin beat MSU by 38, Penn State beat them by 21.
Between now and the end of the season they will add four more common opponents:
- On 11/9 Wisconsin will play Iowa, Penn State already beat Iowa by 5
- On 11/23 PSU will play Ohio State, Wisconsin already lost to the Buckeyes by 31
- On 11/23 Wisconsin will play Purdue, Penn State already beat Purdue by 28
- On 11/30 Wisconsin will play Minnesota, Penn State will play them on 11/9

It seems #1 and #14 are very obvious. Then there is another group around 2-6 that isn't, and another 7-12 that isn't. UMd is probably a clear #13.
