Title: Baylor and Minnesota
Post by: Cincydawg on November 01, 2019, 09:11:37 AM
As a rather distant observer, I like it when programs like this get a great start.  I know both are likely to lose 2-3 games yet, maybe, but even 9-3 is a very good year for them.  They have won all the games they could have lost in years past.  Minny hosts Penn State next weekend and I will hope for an upset just for fun.  Baylor if they could get by @TCU would host OU and Texas at home and an upset there is possible, perhaps.

Some good coaching in both programs I think.

Baylor always knew its schedule was back loaded, but there's no denying the effort in getting past oSu and KSU.

Regression to the mean is always a thing, and I suppose the same bad beats that made them turn in a 1-11 record several seasons ago now are breaking their way. Whether it be a fortunate fumble (oSu), incorrectly called snap infraction (Tech), or delay penalty (WVU), the beats are now going Baylor's way - turning close losses into wins.

They played such an abysmally poor OOC schedule that they're not getting any real credit, and thus far, they don't pass the eye test as an actually great team. However, the games are played to win, and that's what they're doing.

Baylor at TCU this Saturday is a rivalry game and as such anything could happen.  The Bears host Texas and Oklahoma the next two weeks.  Baylor is quite capable of upsetting Texas, not so much Oklahoma.

Sic'em Bears!
