Title: Should we consolidate "general" threads here?
Post by: betarhoalphadelta on July 13, 2017, 04:23:08 PM
So, on the old boards, we had some very specific OT threads underneath conference the boards, such as the B1G recipe thread, the B12 beer thread, etc.

I wonder if we should revive those threads here in the OT/General section rather than hiding them in individual conference boards. We didn't have a very active "general" forum over there at the old board.

I see two things:

Pro: It makes it easier for those threads to be read/commented by all conferences. I.e. I rarely clicked over to the B12 board and participated in the beer or the chili/BBQ thread, but I might do so more often if it was in a conference-free zone.

Con: It might make cross-pollination between conferences less likely. I.e. I would sometimes go to the B12 board for the beer thread and then find myself reading a few more interesting things over there. I might never really go to the B12 board otherwise...

What do you think?

good idea with making a poll out of this.... like I commented to seattlion, this joint is 'crowd managed'.

my two bits worth:

this joint will be and should be FAR more personalized to US- not catering to masses in some wide sweeping all inclusive (yet divisive) fashion.  meaning: i'm going to wager the core there will be the core here, but with a helluva lot more say in how things are arranged and a lot less concern for how a corporation decides things should be.

if'n y'all want it, y'all got it.  I'll let the voting run it's course and make a move when it's done, based on what's decided.
