Choosing Hopkins... For a few reasons.
- I'm a Purdue homer. Not that this invalidates my opinion, but obviously it makes me more knowledgeable about him than the others.
- Purdue will be a pass-happy offense.
- Brohm has used his TEs extensively in the passing game, particularly as safety valves over the past few years when the OL was suspect.
- Hopkins' competition last year for TE catches, Cole Herdman, graduated. Hopkins will share his targets much less.
- That said, Hopkins out-caught Herdman the past two years anyway. Hopkins averaged ~3 rec/game in 2018, with 1.5 to Herdman. Hopkins could go north of 4 receptions a game. I'd predict in the range of 50 catches and 700 yards, 3-4 TDs.
- Beyond Moore, the other pass-catchers for Purdue is generally very talented but completely unproven on the field, or pedestrian talent upperclassmen who have limited ceilings. Hopkins and Moore are proven assets now, and will likely be relied on heavily in the beginning of the year.
Obviously if the very talented outside receivers are difference makers on day 1 [which largely assumes the OL comes together and can block for them], it means that some of Hopkins' target share will be spread much more thin. But based on what we know today, I think Hopkins is one of the safest choices here.

I went with Hopkins too. Probably go with mini Alvarez next.
-
I went Ferguson. Hopkins would be my #2.
-
I think Friermuth is about to explode. New QB, talented safety blanket and all.
-
Fergie's year is going to much depend on QB play, I think. QB play may also much depend on his year too though.
