Starting a little early because we've got championship games on tonight, and my wife is taking the girls to the movies which means it's just me and television to watch some warm PAC and MAC.
-
Alright, the Mac is barking with the big Dawgs this weekend.
-

Tomorrow

Thanks for reminder on P12 playing tonight.
I was noticing some ESPN ads for their playoff slate on ABC and the SEC game was excluded and I figured it must be on CBS.
-
It would be funny if the Cyclones lost to Drake.
-
Got Badger/Iowa hoops tonight too. Always a good game.
-
PAC is having their CCG on a Friday?
Does that mean we're down to the P4 and G6 now?

If we extend your reasoning to it's logical conclusion, then all of the G5 conferences that are playing their CCG on Saturday would now all of a sudden be P5, no?
-
PAC is having their CCG on a Friday?
Does that mean we're down to the P4 and G6 now?
I believe it's always been Friday
-
Got Badger/Iowa hoops tonight too. Always a good game.
MSU-Rutgers too. I am not watching.
Drop of water in the ocean, but I figure to make it not lip service against Big Ten Friday football/basketball games, I need to do my part and not watch. They are banking on initial outcry before fans relent and just watch. Not me.
-
MAC really needs to move their title game to home field. The atmosphere neutral site is awful. Pac 12 probably should too.

Near the league office, can't beat that!
(Also, with MAC attendance, that might actually be worse)
-

It's part of the wave OF THE FUTURE! (So says Larry Scott)
-

Yes.
-
Buffalo cant be stopped
-
Stadium for PACCG looks half empty.
-
I don’t know what kind of kicking game Washington has but I don’t get passing up a 42 yard fg to go for it on 4th and 6 on the first possession of the game. Overly aggressive a la Dana Holgorsen.

I have not ever understood the fascination with neutral site games in college football. I at least understand a little bit during the regular season, where teams can do a one off and split the profits. But why have a game somewhere where no one will attend?
-
Yeah, the lower bowl MIGHT be half-full. Yeeeesh.
Meh, at least they aren't twelving. Actual defense being played!
-

It's kind of the worst possible scenario, with the only two teams that aren't even in bordering states.
If it was an Ohio team vs a Michigan team like it should be, then there'd be a decent atmosphere.
-
First fragrence commercial I don't hate, solely because Starman is such a great song.
-
Wow, anything but a sack there
-
Why would Utah not call a timeout with like 3 seconds left and try a hail Mary?
-
Just like that, we've got a game in Detroit.
-

The Pac 12 also has two teams from non-bordering states.
Luckily the Big Ten has two teams from bordering states. So that one should be okay.
The SEC and Big XII each have one in-state team and one team from a bordering state.
The ACC has a team from a bordering state and a team from a non-bordering state.
-

Same, you take so much that is unique and special about college football and strip it away. At that point you are just watching an NFL game, but a worse version, with even less atmosphere. Granted still less canned music than Beaver Stadium.
-

The SEC is always fine. Big Ten has been fine too except the one year we had a bunch of Nebraska fans holding out for a Rose Bowl trip against a bunch of Wisconsin fans that were not super stoked to watch their 7-5 3rd place team "play for a title." ACC has had some bad ones in the past, but I think Clemson fans have done better. Not sure about the Big XII, but I don't recall it ever being a problem. In the early days of the game it was THE championship game, whereas the SEC Championship Game was played in September between Florida and Tennessee.

Huskies!

SEC C-game in ATL is OK. B1G game, at least play it outdoors in say Chicago.
The rest need home field.
-
Buffalo beefed it.
-
The Big XII CCG has been a mixed bag. Not a sellout the first year, in St. Louis, which did next to nothing to tout the game. That was a dubious host city for the game. Some years the game did quite well, a few years were not very good, crowd wise. Mostly good though. The B1G game does enjoy pretty good geography, compared to Pac 12 for sure, plus they don't care about anything. Even if Nebraska makes the game from time to time, I don't see them ever going hog wild for the game, 750 miles away, chances are they would know they are in it with 7-8 days notice. The fans love to travel yes, but they love to plan ahead for it.
I sense, I guess we'll find out tomorrow night, but a little Buckeye fatigue with the game. There are still a lot of seats for sale at face or less, which is good for those of us buying on site. I do think the Buckeye fans have gotten smart on showing up and buying on site. I've attended all the games, except last year, and only once did I have tickets in advance. Only Iowa/MSU was a game where I had to work hard, and still paid over face. NW v Mich would've made this a pricey game tomorrow night.

Utah has a beef. That was PI.

Looked like bang, bang play in real time, but PI in slow mo.

Making short ribs today. Gonna serve them over a puree of Yukon golds, sweet potato and butternut squash, with a side of pan seared asparagus.
-
Couldn't hang through that offensive explosion last night. Actually slept in, and none of the kids are awake. What a time to be alive.
-
neutral site conference champ games were an attempt to keep it fair and not give a huge homefield advantage

Even w/o the ribs that's an impressive platter

Well Nubbz, gonna apologize early....
Kiss of death to the Bucks yesterday... took the Bucks and gave the 14 points
for example: I took the Saints over the Cowboys thursday evening and gave the 7.5
Bucks have a chance to pull out the game by a point or two, but there's now NO way they cover

off and on rain here today, going to get up to 60 degrees. Saw Northwestern fan at the store this morning.

Horns draw first blood!
-
Texas misses two wide open touchdown passes, runs for touchdown
-
why review the play if the facemask penalty cancels the INT?
-
Texas actually gets a stop and forces a field goal. Sooners getting no pressure at all on Texas QB.
-
Boomers with a stop
Sooners should have gone for the TD
-
Already a field goal and a punt in this game. Probably ruining some side bets out there.
-
Man Murray has a rifle
-
Getting some surprising defense, I like it.
-
so does the Afro
-
holy hell two field goals
-
not a fan of the Sooner's unis
-
Pretty fun game so far
-
I’m really bummed WVU is not playing in this game. Could have clinched a spot two weeks in a row and blew it.
-
any fan who's team isn't playing today or tonight is really bummed
today is the goal!
-
if you have a #52 playing tackle, there could be a problem

Boomer!

So for Michigan fans, say Texas wins, then Alabama wins. Do you root for Northwestern, to open up a shot at the playoff, but knowing if (as medina thinks) they still won't take you, and you've lost the Rose; or do you root for OSU and lock in the Rose?
-

Alabama is a lock. I think.
I’d like to see OSU sneak it at 4th and then get blasted by Alabama.
-
refs are struggling
that's not a TD
-
Plenty of time for the Sooners to score again
-
Texas completely falling apart on that drive. That personal foul call is absolutely killer in stopping the clock
-
I’d like to see OSU sneak it at 4th and then get blasted by Alabama.
You're a very rude man Grove Blue, with the Holidays coming up and all
-
Appalachian State just went for it 4th and 1 on their own 30, up 17-13...and got stuffed.
-
Maybe Pep will apply for that opening
-
I'd like to see OU play Bama at some point this season.
-
If Georgia, OU, and OSU lose, and UCF wins, I say they jump Michigan and go into the CFP.
That's what I'm rooting for today.
-
Got a new chimney for the kamado, so I'm dialing it in right now to get to a nice 225 degrees or so and make sure it'll hold steady for a few hours before I throw three slabs of baby back ribs on there. Pair that with some mac & cheese and Brussels sprouts, and I think dinner's gonna be nice...
-
Very easy drive for Oklahoma

Isn't the kamado like the Green Egg?Because if it is I don't get it.Better draft?Back pressure? - I haven't mastered the art of Q and prolly won't either

well, yer a yankee
-
I watch Oklahoma’s offense and it just makes me sad. What does a guy have to do to get an offense like that at Michigan?
DPJ, Black, Nico, and Chris Evans would thrive in an offense like this.
Hey, who knew if you spread it out in shotgun, use spacing, tempo, motion, all kinds of creative wrinkles and throw it to WIDE RECIEVERS instead of TE’s you can put up a lot of points! Who knew!
-
well, yer a yankee
Well ya but Cindy only eats meat like 2-3 X a week.So hardly worth the time/effort for the little I'd be making.Plus outside of Briskett smoke flavor doesn't do much for me.But I am gonna start looking for a rotisserie. My mom made the best chicken and roast beef.I'd prolly take the chicken as my last meal
-
Texas actually forces a punt

I don't have a Cindy so I need even less probably. Stuff keeps good in the fridge or freezer
I'm not addicted to smoke, it's a nice change up from time to time.
I'd like yer Mom's chicken
I grill some chickens on beer cans. VERY good
I should use my smoker more often, today would have been a good opportunity
stuck here all day by the first blizzard of the season
-
Give me Oklahoma’s offensive scheme with Michigan State’s defensive scheme and I’d be happy af.
-
Texas just got bailed out of a deep INT by OU PI... Now in the red zone down 27-21.

Poor decision by Ellingher but looked like a pretty obvious PI to me.
-

Nailed it,Test Kitchen did some experiments and they pretty much surmise that it really doesn't matter what liquid is in the can. They tried wines/fruit juices/Liquors/vinegars by the time the bird is done can't really distinguish/discern the flavor liquid. So use the cheap stuff like Bud Fat
-
I gree, I've tried bud fat, Guinness, New Castle brown ale, PBR, water with orange juice, cheap wine
it's the moisture, not the flavor
-
Pretty ironic that the guy Ohio State blames for the ZS drama and the Urbs suspension is the guy they need to come through for them to get into the playoff.
-
I can't stop hearing Little Jordan Humphrey when they reference Lil'Jordan Humphrey
You called

Tim Beck's offense doesn't suck

XP blocked, tie game

this thing could go to 7 OTs like LSwho and A&M

Isn't the kamado like the Green Egg?Because if it is I don't get it.Better draft?Back pressure? - I haven't mastered the art of Q and prolly won't either
Yes, just like the BGE. Temp is set by how much the top and bottom vents are open, basically controlling temp entirely through airflow.
I have the older model of the Kamado Joe, which has a top vent that's basically identical to the BGE design. The flaw of that design is that when you swing it open, and then have to open the grill lid, the vent will swing shut and you'll have to reset it every time you open the grill. The new design stays in one place, and the opening is large enough to get higher temps without having to swing it open. So you can open and close the grill lid without messing with your temp settings.
But with kamado-style grills, it takes a little time to understand how much opening you need to hit a certain temp, so I'm trying to make sure I've got that nailed before I start throwing meat on.

They don't blame Herman,Zach started throwing names out and people under the bus and Mensa was one of them

BTW the kamado-style grills are only smokers when you want them to be. While they're fired by charcoal, it's only when you add smoking wood that you get pronounced smoke flavor. I grill vegetables over charcoal quite a bit and they don't taste like smoke, which would be disgusting.
Kamado Joe actually has a rotisserie for their grills though... I've been considering it for a long time, but my wife has a poultry allergy, so we don't really cook chicken. I have to think that would be a big use of the rotisserie, so I haven't pulled the trigger on that.
I gree, I've tried bud fat, Guinness, New Castle brown ale, PBR, water with orange juice, cheap wine

Yep, I've heard the same. Drink the good stuff, use the cheap stuff for your birds.
Granted, I still think the best way to roast a chicken is to spatchcock it. Spatchcock it, rub it down with grapeseed oil and some John Henry's "Texas Chicken Tickler" BBQ rub, and roast it indirect at ~350-400 degrees until it comes to temp.
-
this game has been pretty fricken entertaining to watch.

Opened up a Christmas Ale not sure I'll make it to tonight

Never cared too much for the various Christmas Ale's,I'm not fond of all the spices.SA Winter White isn't too bad
-
By the way I kinda hate this. Texas already beat OU.
If Michigan had beaten its arch rival OSU or MSU and then had to turn around and play them again in a conference championship game I’d be fricken pissed off.

What happened in Ames?

Defense has played better than the special teams today

Great Lakes
-
Sooners catch a break there.Horns hanging around gotta be getting the land thieves a little restless

Weird there's a Pac 12 regular season game tonight, after they have already held their CCG.
-
this game has been pretty fricken entertaining to watch.
Hook Em.
Absolutely.
I hate when people call you old fashioned for hating that Oklahoma-WVU garbage from last week, like you want it to be 1955. Nobody is sitting around saying Nebraska-MSU 9-6 is great football. This is great football.
-
great football because it's not in the 50's or 60's in points each side
-

I actually thought about that. Do you know what Urban could do with that group, and Shea? Holy shit.
-
By the way I kinda hate this. Texas already beat OU.
True but if the Horns win again that't be a boom for recruiting between these two
-
Great Lakes
I am with Nubbz, when he said he is not fond of those Christmas ales, but the MAJOR exception is Great Lakes. That is great stuff.
-
Cue the conspiracy theorists.
-
Oklahoma more or less tackling Texas receivers and daring the refs to keep throwing flags
-
How is that. OT PI. That was horrible.
-
Well I've seen some of your culinary fixins that you've posted so no doubt you'll get it dialed in.it's prolly the only way you cook steaks
Darn right.
I actually have a sous vide setup. I just don't like doing steak sous vide, even though so many people rave about it. I do steak on the kamado.
My wife, actually, LOVES when I do baby back ribs in the sous vide. It doesn't give the smoke flavor, but they come out perfectly tender. 24 hours at 147F. Just need to throw them on the grill quickly to brown and sauce them after the warm bath, and they come out perfect every time. I find with ribs I'm more hit or miss. When I nail the ribs, I prefer them on the smoker. When I don't, the sous vide is better.
Hopefully I nail them today lol...
-
I am with Nubbz, when he said he is not fond of those Christmas ales, but the MAJOR exception is Great Lakes. That is great stuff.
I don't mind about 4-6 of them per year. But I agree, Great Lakes is terrific. And overall I don't like that brewery, I don't get the hype beyond being one of the micros to get its name out there beyond the micro explosion, but I do like their Christmas.
-
How is that. OT PI. That was horrible.
I stepped outside what happened? The announcers saying the refs blew a PI call

Absolutely.

Yeah. I hate the games where it's basically like "last team with the ball wins" because nobody can stop anything. But the games where neither offense can do anything sucks too.
A balance where both teams have to work to score, but can actually score, is ideal.
-
sous vide sounds like it's meant for guys that can't nail it on the grill
I guess some folks just need help
-

Good to hear, because that's what Big Jim wanted when he set up the Leaders and Legends. I'm still not sure which one of those Wisconsin was in, but I have no idea why they were in the one they were in. Oh wait. Yes I do. Big Jim said so.
-
I love Great Lakes - I tend to find their stuff to be consistently good and their Irish Ale is probably my all time favorite beer. I like Christmas Ales and find theirs just ok though. I prefer 12 Dogs or Harpoon. But Aldi's only sells this and that's where I was this morning.
-
I stepped outside what happened? The announcers saying the refs blew a PI call
An egregious missed PI that should have been called giving Texas a first down.
-
Oklahoma’s offense is a thing of beauty.
Shit man, if you had that offense in Michigan you'd be all pissed off every time it score too quickly and put your defense back out there too soon.
:57:

Huge turnover

Their Elliot Ness(Austrian style amber Lager) & Edmund Fitzgerald(Porter) are two of my favs. There is a newer brewery right around the corner from me - Fatheads, gets a lot of press amongst the snobs. They are OK but way over priced.
My Lord what a GAME!
-

Sous vide is just a tool. There are things that you can do with sous vide that you cannot do with any other cooking method. You can end up with medium-rare perfectly tender short ribs, for example. Can't do that on a BBQ or in a braise.
Some people try to use it for everything, wrongly. Some people pooh-pooh it like it's a crutch, and while it can be used as such, it's not just a crutch.
-
Well that's not good
-

So many people love the FItzgerald, I hate it.
I like going to Fatheads, but their beer, agreed, just ok.
-
Wow, defenses making plays all over the field. Tough to imagine any games later today matching this.
-
Wow.
Texas refuses to tackle for 70 yards, but then plays just enough defense to strip the ball in their own territory.
Then OU decides to play defense and gets a safety out of it.
As time ticks down, though, I think Texas is going to have to stop OU's offense after this safety and put a TD on the board, because another OU score IMHO puts this one away.
-
So many people love the FItzgerald, I hate it.

You're at the Fatheads in PA I'm guessing. This Guy Matt Cole a local Brew Master took over the Cleveland operation and has done wonders and expanded their brand, specially around here
-
Man can't get better than this for Oklahoma for a final drive. Eating clock, methodical.
-

Same brewery. It's just a pub in Pittsburgh, they don't brew the beer here, but yes the expanded brand is noticeable here too. They never used to advertise.
-
Picked up a sixer of Hoegaarden Belgian Wheat beer. With some Yuengling around in case I go through that.I'm still reeling from damage done myself last Saturday.Looked like Stallone in the 15th round of ROCKY - "cut me Mick"

perfect short ribs is reason enough for me
maybe Santa will be good to me?
-
I love the Fitz but I'll always like porters. I know plenty of people thar hate porters. Elliot Ness is a great beer too especially w food.
-
Boomer.

GAME
-
Looks like Boomer Sooner in the playoffs now. Man, hell of a catch and game.
-
That should just about do it.
These unsportsmanlike conduct penalties are out of hand though.
-
nice catch
-
Is it possible that Kyler Murray is more efficient than Baker Mayfield?
I don’t think he’s as good and his arm isn’t nearly as dangerous as Baker’s, but to me he just operates more efficiently within the pocket. It’s crazy. The little quick steps he takes to the sides or moves up when pressure is coming and then gets rid of the ball quicky pretty accurately to pick up the 1st down is crazy. Every time Texas sends pressure they get there but he just makes them miss or gets rid of it so quick. Guy is a joy to watch.
-
That should just about do it.
These unsportsmanlike conduct penalties are out of hand though.
They really, and I mean really, need to change the rules on that. Spiking the football is a tradition as old as I've been alive, and somehow it's now a penalty in college football.
-
Thanks, Oklahoma, for making it super easy to switch over to the Pur@UM basketball game.
-
Omg that hold call was HUGE. Omg.
Texas returned that to the house. Make the 2 point it’s a 3 point game now it’s gone.
-
13 penalties?????
-
Horns tossing haymakers on the way out the door then shoot themselves in the foot
-
Purdue not playing any defense.
-
Think OU did just enough to secure their place.
Not sure Ohio State can jump them now.
-
Ehlinger is solid, but just pales in comparison to Murray
The Sooners have recruited and developed some serious QB talent the past 5-10 seasons
-
That should just about do it.
These unsportsmanlike conduct penalties are out of hand though.
Kind of agree but so are excessive celebrations - act like you've been there.Don't need a Broadway Production every time they get a 1st down.Well OU is headed to the CFP
-
And Painter has to call a TO before the first media break just to settle them down. Ugh. I certainly wasn't expecting Purdue to win today, but I really don't want to see them be completely run off the court.
-
Ehlinger is solid, but just pales in comparison to Murray

Yeah, they’ve been pretty on the money with their last 3 QBs.
Think all of them came from the state of Texas too. Although they didn’t really recruit Baker. He was a walk-on at Texas Tech who transferred to OU.
-
UCF already down 7-0 to Memphis and Memphis just got a huge turnover in UCF territory then a 1st down. At the 15 trying to go up 14-0. Uh oh.
-
Memphis just punched it in again. 14-0. Wow.
-
UCF saw the OU win and gave up.
-
Ugh. Fast break layup, missed. Easy ORB put-back, missed. UM comes down the court and hits a big 3.
Against UM, Purdue can't be missing the easy ones.
-
Yep. Purdue isn't ready for this level of competition.
-
Think OU did just enough to secure their place.
Not sure Ohio State can jump them now.
They could have won 2-0, and they were good. They just had to win.
-
They could have won 2-0, and they were good. They just had to win.
Not sure I agree. Had they won 55-51 or something and just looked terrible on defense yet again while OSU blasted NW like 52–17, really think OSU would’ve jumped them.
OU did enough on defense and still had their usual high flying offense.
-
UCF with a big drive ti get right back.
-
Not sure I agree. Had they won 55-51 or something and just looked terrible on defense yet again while OSU blasted NW like 52–17, really think OSU would’ve jumped them.

Oklahoma’s only loss was by 3, to a ranked rival, away from home. They just avenged that loss. They deserve to be the 4 th team by a healthy margin.
-
Gary Danielson is unbearable.
Tua’s #’s are insane. 70% completion with 41 td passes vs just 2 ints.
-
Memphis scores again
-
Memphis on pace to score 168 points...might be invited into the BigXII next year.
-
Yeah, the fact OU played some defense and kept Texas under 50 points punches their ticket into the playoff.
-
LOL what the hell was that awesome block by Alabama?
-
Purdue finally settled but when you spot UM 15 points, just keeping the margin consistent isn't enough.
-
Georgia with a huge interception
-
Gary Danielson is unbearable.
Tua’s #’s are insane. 70% completion with 41 td passes vs just 2 ints.
Absolutely,it's like him and Finebaum don't have a corpuscle of dignity as much as they slurp the SEC.Ya we get it they're good you can remove his wanker from your ear now
-
Super obvious, but super unnecessary holding call negates a fourth TD for Memphis in the first 9 minutes
-
Purdue finally settled but when you spot UM 15 points, just keeping the margin consistent isn't enough.
Yay! We’re a basketball school now. :(
-
Yay! We’re a basketball school now. :(
Apparently we're a football school now
-
So at this point I'm rooting for Georgia but I don't just need them to win, I need them to win big!
-
WR play not on point early.
-
Touchdown Georgia!
-
UAB and MTSU locked in a tight game of no importance, save the PS3 tourney.
-
Why is this single chick in need of Aflac renting a whole house by herself? Maybe these types of financial decisions are why she's living paycheck to paycheck with a professional job.
-
Touchdown Georgia!
Well now because on my superstitious nature I can't watch.Georgia goes a head and I wasn't watching, now the stars and Kharma will take over
-
Back in 2007 Ohio State needed an unlikely upset by Pitt, looks like we are in the same spot now.
GO PANTHERS!
-
Wow. Jeudy just dropped a TD.
-
Bama has two 5* RBs in Najee Harris and Damien Harris.
Jacobs who was the 3* with few offers is the best RB they have imo.

D'andre Baker is the best cb in the country and he was a 3 star. Sic 'em Dawgs!

Leverage, baby!
-
Entertaining game. So far, anyway. And
Glad I picked Memphis in my pool. I was the only one. Perfect score, so far.
-
Painter is now in "prove a point" mode. Has Edwards, Eastern, Eifert out of the game. Clearly a move to tell them to shape the F up.
-
Georgia able to move the ball. BTW, say Georgia wins. Clemson, assuming they beat Pitt, probably moves to the top seed, but then they probably play Bama. Such a reward.
-

Maybe better than playing Georgia?
-
Maybe better than playing Georgia?
If Georgia loses, they're out of the CFP. Clemson would end up playing ND, which I think they win easily.
If Alabama loses, they're basically a 4 seed. Which puts Clemson up against what is probably the best team in the country, by virtue of being the second best but undefeated.
-
Why are Stanford and Cal playing today? The fires?
-
Maybe better than playing Georgia?
Maybe, but right now they are playing Notre Dame and I think I'd rather keep that
-
Why are Stanford and Cal playing today? The fires?
Yes.
-
Georgia scores again!
-
The Dawgs are blocking the Tide!
-
Been a long time since Saban's Tide hasn't "shown up" in a big game. Georgia is totally earning this, but Alabama isn't 'on edge', so to speak.
-
Georgia making it look easy
-
Anybody still wishing UCF was going to play a motivated big-boy team?
-
Anybody still wishing UCF was going to play a motivated big-boy team?
LOL they lost their quarterback and they whipped a big boy team last year
-
Huge call here
-
Dumb rule strikes again. Shouldn't be a TD
-
He fumbled Gary. He is such a shit bag. I hate this guy. Take Bamas dick out of your mouth Gary.

Dumb rule strikes again. Shouldn't be a TD
Agree 100%. Stupid stupid rule.

Georgia couldn't be squandering this any harder.

Not a motivated big boy team. And it was a 3-loss big boy team.

Georgia couldn't be squandering this any harder.
Deja vu
-
Georgia couldn't be squandering this any harder.
Ya this is par for the course for their defense though. They’ve been terrible all year stopping the run. Which is why I was shocked as hell they kept trying to throw with Tua early on. Just run it down Georgia’s throat.
-
Fromm got away with a terrrrible throw there.
-
If Bama loses this they should not be in the playoff.
-
Not a motivated big boy team. And it was a 3-loss big boy team.
It was a team that whipped Alabama and Georgia last year, but they just weren't talented enough to compete with UCF
-
Fun trolling
-
Does Georgia winning get us to a six or eight team playoff more quickly?
I’m that scenario there will be an uprising from somebody. It could be Ohio State and Oklahoma, left out as 1 loss conference champions, or it could be Bama, the “greatest team of the century.” The fury in either scenario will be nuclear compared to any politicking and scenarios since the CFP started.
-
Fun trolling
It's not trolling. Last year's playoff group was extremely weak and it was kind of a joke that they took Alabama in as an also ran instead of a really good and undefeated UCF team. Then UCF whipped Auburn and proved they should have been in, and there we are. This year's UCF team isn't as good as last year's, and they lost their quarterback, so the trolling part is trying to say this game somehow means last year UCF wasn't good.

TD Dawgs

Hell of a touchdown there

Georgia score!

See Pac12 the AAC even sells out when you schedule a championship game at a proper venue.

Georgia can really turn the screws on this drive

Big break for Bama there

Just did battle w scalpers. Success. NW fans happy we will be on their side of things

Georgia with another big pick

Big time touchdown for Bama there

1 - What other examples are there of a 7-point win being a whipping?
2 - Now you're advocating for last year's UCF?!? Ranked 12th by the committee - hell, why not let Mt. Union into the playoff because they go undefeated? Shit, how are we going to fit the 8,298 undefeated high school teams into the playoff???
-
but a big boy team nonetheless
Which is why I specified 'motivated' initially.....
-
Bama's not really lookin' like the greatest cfb team of all time so far.
Yeah, they should apologize.

LOL that's the joke. UCF was 12th(!) despite the top 11 teams being completely unimpressive and a bunch of also rans. Bama came in third in their own conference. Clemson lost to a 4-8 team. Georgia got blown out by a team UCF beat. And Oklahoma was bad on defense all year. It was a joke. It was affirmative action for helmet teams.
-
Which is why I specified 'motivated' initially.....
Ahhh, that same ol' adage for when an SEC teams loses, they just weren't motivated. Not that the other could have, you know, beat them.
-
Killins is just terrifyingly good
-
BTW UCF up 49-41
-
Ahhh, that same ol' adage for when an SEC teams loses, they just weren't motivated. Not that the other could have, you know, beat them.
Yes, I'm opposed to the idea that a team of 20 year olds play with the same fervor and edge in the game directly following a failure of all their season goals. Silly me.
You know, it's funny. The same crowd that groans when I share stat-happy posts and explain how these players aren't robots - that they have heart and guile and moxie and can rise to the occasion - those same people point and laugh at the suggestion that these kids don't approach every game with the same level of motivation. As if they can't uninspired football when all of their goals are erased.
WHICH IS IT???
-
Tua hurt, here comes Hurts
-
Which is why I specified 'motivated' initially.....
so, who should they have played and beat by 7?
ya didn't want them playing the top 4, so what matchup did you want to see to prove they just might be worthy?
Ohio St, Wisconsin, Penn St., Notre Dame, TCU????
I'm guessing none of them would have been motivated
the only teams that would have been motivated were the teams in the playoff
-
Does Georgia winning get us to a six or eight team playoff more quickly?

Right on Hail. You should never be able to lose your way in. Especially if there is a 1 loss champ from the power 5.
-
Yes, I'm opposed to the idea that a team of 20 year olds play with the same fervor and edge in the game directly following a failure of all their season goals. Silly me.
so, what season goals did UCF have left in front of them? just pride I would guess?
unfortunate that the Auburn program didn't have the same sense of pride
-
You have to love what Hurts is doing. Stayed at his school.

Wow UCF 55 -41

twelving

Exactly.
Yet many of those teams knew they weren't going to be in the playoff their last game of the regular season. Auburn was, except they lost.
-
Which is why I specified 'motivated' initially.....
Can’t beat a motivated team if playing you means they’re not motivated.
Anyway, their good QB damn near got his leg torn off. I was hoping they’d lose becuase I wanted the mountain west game to be bigger. Oh well.
Also, the Tua injury just gave the committee an out, dark as that is to say.
-
so, what season goals did UCF have left in front of them? just pride I would guess?
unfortunate that the Auburn program didn't have the same sense of pride
Yeesh, this is brutal. UCF had an undefeated season and respect fueling them as motivation, obviously.
-
Can’t beat a motivated team if playing you means they’re not motivated.
That's a great point, I agree. It stinks, but it's true.
-
Tie game
-
Looks like Finebaum will have to support UCF to the playoffs
-
Admission: I would watch the show Fanville.
I find it odd and creepy that when one of Finebaum's crazy callers died, it was newsworthy. This person, known only for her irrational fanaticism about a game, died late last night.
-
SUPER odd timing, bringing Fields in there.

That throw by Fromm was great.

Hopefully, this doesn't go to 7 overtimes and they end up twelving.

I think Kyler Murray won the Heisman today

give it to Hurts!

Danielson is as clever as a 14 year old high school freshman doing the morning announcements drunk.
-
Just repeating what I saw on BTN today from a commentator who I did not recognize, but who I think said he was the sportscaster for the game tonight.
Of the top 5 teams, which of those teams would Notre Dame be favored to beat? Therefore, why isn't Notre Dame the team to drop down to #5 or #6?
-
I think Kyler Murray won the Heisman today
UCF is making a replica and giving it to Milton...

Georgia has a minute to reverse this deja vu

Because as we've seen on this board, if you are undefeated, everyone owes you a blowjob...and a spot in the playoff.

Because the results of games should actually matter, as opposed to recruiting rankings

hit the QB in the facemask - 15 yards auto first down

let's review that play and show the face mask 6 times, but no mention of the foul??? come on announcers.

Yes, because of motivation? I'm mean if your in the SEC and not playing for the title, your not motivated to play, so yes a 12-0 team is better than a non-playoff team of any record???
-
bye bye Georgia
-
Wonder if the Dawgs will ever win another NC

you're.....you're......

This day delivering big. You've got a high bar ACC and Big Ten.

So our playoff is:
1 - 'bama
2 - Clemson
3 - ND
4 - OU
and one hell of a Rose bowl with Washington vs. NW/OSU winner

you're.....you're......
troll isn't worthy of an apostrophe

bye bye Georgia
Yup 2 losses,Boomer Sooner

Not if they keep running fake punts at midfield....

When we needed Pitt to pull an upset in 2007 . . .
-
I'm rooting for OSU to win, but kinda pissed off the playoff has become a beauty pageant again, that my team (if they can win) still losses.
-
So it is almost a lock for Bama and Clemson.
Ou wont win without massive zebra assists, as their first ten first downs were because of penalties today, and every damn one questionable. And ND? I hope they get ROLLED and show everyone they are nothing but a mid major to begin with .
-
I'm rooting for OSU to win, but kinda pissed off the playoff has become a beauty pageant again, that my team (if they can win) still losses.
Don't lose to 6-6 teams in conference by 29 pts
-
I don't want any of them to win, so I'm f'ed. I'm just glad Georgia lost.
I have no love for Bama, and the last thing they need is another NC.
Clemson is cool, but I'm getting tired of them. I'd like some variety.
ND thinks they're special, but they're just a''holes.
I don't like OU, I prefer Texas.
-
Don't lose to 6-6 teams in conference by 29 pts
In the beauty contest of college football, that's a great, big, hairy mole on your forehead.
-
So God is busying himself with Alabama's QB depth chart? Wow!
-
Somewhere Danielson & Finebaum are spooning humming "Hurts so good"
-
Just saying but 1995 Nebraska had zero nail biters. And bet 4 top 10 teams.

Just saying but 1995 Nebraska had zero nail biters. And bet 4 top 10 teams.
Yeah they are safely better than this year's Bama team

Just saying but 1995 Nebraska had zero nail biters. And bet 4 top 10 teams.
Harkening back thru the dim mists of antiquity are we?

It's always been a beauty contest and it always will be
better put on some lip gloss

Serious question: is there a limit to how many teams one conference can have in the New Year's Six bowls? It might just turn into the SEC invitational:
Georgia
Florida
LSU
-
Serious question: is there a limit to how many teams one conference can have in the New Year's Six bowls? It might just turn into the SEC invitational:

Nope.
Big Ten had 4 last year.
And won them all.
-
No surprise but buckeye fan 4:1 ratio here out at the bars
surprises me a bit, I'd think Buck fans would be waiting for a trip to the Rose or the playoff
I guess it's just too easy to drive over to Indy for the masses

I don't think so.
Haven't really thought about it. Top four look like Bama, Clemson, ND, OU. That leaves 8 spots. Rose is OSU/NW v. Washington. One spot goes to UCF. That's five more spots. Georgia and Michigan are locks. Other three?
-
Nope.
Big Ten had 4 last year.
And won them all.
I count 3.
-
Assuming OU makes CFP, Texas gets a spot.
Also, tOSU is in win or lose.
-
Could Michigan play Georgia in the Sugar? That'd be fun.
-
Assuming OU makes CFP, Texas gets a spot.
Also, tOSU is in win or lose.
ya think?
-
This rules.
-
So let's say Clemson and OSU win.
Rose: OSU-Washington
Fiesta:
Cotton: CFP
Sugar: Georgia-Texas
Peach:
Orange: CFP
So looking at committee rankings:
Michigan
UCF
Florida
LSU
As the next choices are Penn St, Washington St, and Kentucky...
Florida has played Michigan 3x in the past 5 years or so. And we already beat LSU this year. I'm afraid Florida will play UCF in the Peach. Ugh. LSU-Michigan would be a cool game to watch. I'd rather see UM play Georgia, though. Oh well.
-
ya think?
Yes, there's just an utter lack of 2-loss teams.
-
Hell of a touchdown pass by Haskins there
-
Nope.
Big Ten had 4 last year.
And won them all.
Northwestern won on a New Years Six bowl game day, but there bowl didn't count as one of the six.

3 and out. YES!

Paris Campbell trying to have a game

Uh....ok
-
Uh....ok
was that a foul? really? I thought it was called a pancake and was a good thing.
-
was that a foul? really?
I mean, what's the penalty? Unnecessary roughness? It wasn't particularly rough. I'm not aware of any rule that you can't block a guy who has fallen down. Are you just supposed to stand there and wait until he gets back up?
-
was that a foul? really? I thought it was called a pancake and was a good thing.
No. Perfectly legal, and even taught by coaches.
-
There's the Buckeye defense, though Northwestern got away with a blatant hold there
-
Wow. Two HUGE holds tomspring that guy. Going to be like that tonight.
-
Getcha popcorn ready...

Clemson up 14-0

I hope Pitt wears these unis permanently. The gold/dark blue variations all sucked.

Buckeye kryptonite, first and goal

Victor needs to sit, probably leads the team in drops.

I mean...what?

Nice pick

and now another 15 yards for falling down.

I mean...what?
I know right? WTH? I am learning of so many new rules via OSU penalties I have never heard of.

One of the best uniforms in college football

unintended arm punt

Clemson started out to make it the blowout everybody expected but Pitt has temporarily weathered the storm and climbed back in it. 14-10 Clemson.

Fumble?
-
Fumble?
Yes!
-
Fumble?
close. first time I'd say the refs called it OSU's way.
-
I might be the only one watching the MWC Championship between Boise St and Fresno St but it’s a nice snowy night in Boise. 10-7 Fresno St leads at the half.
-
We have thunder and lightning in Columbus and my power went out just as they scored
-
Watching OSU carve up the 2nd and 3rd best defenses in the conference in back to back weeks after MSU shut their offense down is just making me more mad about just how terrible our offense had to be to waste it. They would have been a top 10 team with just like the #60 S&P offense.
-
Definitely 4 to 1 osu fan in the building. Having a great time w NW fans

Cat fans are cool

I couldn’t bring myself to do the two hand shove on these Dr Pepper contests. If I have to take out student loans to keep my man card, so be it.
-
Cat fans are cool
yes they are. kinda like a smaller Nebraska. Way to calls up the League Northwestern.
-
So, sick kiddeo pulled me away from the game. I saw 4 "debatable" calls/no call in the first half. 3-1 in favor of Northwestern.
Pancake Personal Foul
Double Hold No Call for a Cat TD
Stumbling tackle front the front Personal Foul
Almost a forward pass overturned for a fumble.
Did I miss any?

Dwayne Haskins is the best QB that I’ve ever seen at Ohio State. The arm + his size is what NFL scouts dream of. 1st round pick.
-
So the SEC commish is already campaigning to get Georgia into the top4.
I am not sure what is more shocking, the arrogance, the balls or the stupidity.
You really want to put a 2 loss non conference champion in, before potentially TWO power 5 one loss conference champions.
-
I couldn’t bring myself to do the two hand shove on these Dr Pepper contests. If I have to take out student loans to keep my man card, so be it.
Of note, if someone would like to give me $100,000 from my man card, I will take it.

I love this kid, and love 2x more for being willing to run a little these last 3 games.

But they only lost too SEC teams, and as we all know, as long as they are "motivated" the SEC has the top 14 teams in the NCAA.

Pitt burns its first timeout before a single second comes off the clock in the second half. First time I’ve ever seen that.

Dwayne Haskins is the best QB that I’ve ever seen at Ohio State. The arm + his size is what NFL scouts dream of. 1st round pick.
Cardale Jones

Cardale Jones
Cardale had a cannon. Haskins is equal, but with better accuracy.

Welcome to my world the last 8 years.
-
Cardale Jones
He’s not as big as Cardale. He’s also a lot smarter and way more accurate. Only similarities are they are both black, went to OSU, played QB, and have huge arms.

Well that's a pretty exclusive group. Those two, and maybe Troy Smith.
-
the SEC commish can beg, won't do him any good
-
Every team in the playoff runs a spread offense.
Bama
Clemson
ND
OU
If you don’t run this style of offense you’re never winning shit. In my opinion. Saban saw this and he changed on the fly and only took his dynasty to the next level.
-

Troy was a midget compared to those guys and had nowhere near that kind of arm strength.

and OSU and UCF
Who cares about UCF?
Urban won 3 titles already with that style of offense. He was at the forefront really.
-
Urbs and RichRod, really. They showed you didn't have to TexasTech out of the spread...you could run all over people, too.
-
just calling out other teams playing today
-
I think Ohio St is gonna get left out. That probably isn’t all that controversial but this is a resume argument to me. Eye test doesn’t tell me much when looking at Ohio St vs Oklahoma. I have no idea who would win that game.
On resume they each have four wins over teams with winning records (assuming OSU goes onto win). OU has one more win over bowl teams (7-6). If NW stays ranked they will each have 3 ranked wins. If NW drops out OU should finish with more ranked wins.
The real difference is the losses. For the second year in a row Ohio St has a head scratcher to answer for. And OU avenged its only loss.
A Rose Bowl is a nice consolation prize.

I think he was down, but man almost a hell of a play.

Got Scott Frost half a national title. :91:
-
Northwestern coaches with a great game plan vs Ohio State.
Harbaugh and his staff could learn a thing or two from him.

Why is that bastard doing his job?!?
Nah. He’s a doosh.
Georgia just lost to an Alabama back-up that should be playing RB when they had a 14 point lead. They out.

Dr. Tom was a really likeable dude. Everyone liked the guy.
No one likes the SEC or it’s dumbass commissioner.
-
ya can't teach a man that knows everything
Jim don’t know shitttttt. His offenses sucks.
-
Meanwhile, in the MWC Champ, poor weather is damping down the offenses. After Fresno State scored the 2nd half’s first points, a FG extending their lead to 13-7, Boise St finally finds the end zone, a long rush TD from their banged up RB, before botching the XP in the snow. 13-13 with 8 left in the 4th.

if likeable Tom had 2 losses he wouldn't have had a chance either
dumbass doesn't have an argument

the first step is to admit you have a problem
-
This game. Wow man.
Can’t remember a better conference title weekend ever. Every game has been extremely good.
-
How do you not block Chase Young at all?
He’s the best pass rusher on Ohio State’s team. And that play was designed to leave him unblocked. Wtf.
-
Major blown opportunity there.
-
Gah! Northwestern is fired up and the Buckeyes are not. Huge 3rd Quarter for the Wildcats.
-
NW with 14 players on the field looking guilty as h3ll, right in front of the ref and ..... nuthin'

Doesn't that just speak to how ubiquitous it is in the sport? Like there's just not a ton of teams running spread-free stuff.
-
Game of major swings back and forth, has never really felt even. Teams just taking turns taking over both sides of the ball.
-
4th Qtr. Time to knock 'em into a Southeasterly direction.

Terrible play call for Northwestern. Who the hell was he going to outrun to the edge?

I keep waiting for fox to go to commericals after penalties

Haskins is the best Big Ten QB I have ever seen at the college level. I now feel confident saying that. If he winds up in New York with Barkley and Beckham, that'll sell some tickets. I don't see any way he is back next year.
-
My whole twitter feed is UGA drum banging.
As pointed out by Matt Hinton, the committee actually has guidelines for what makes "the best team" beyond the feels: Championships won, Strength of schedule, Head-to-head competition, Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory).
Beyond that, my goodness, we must crown the Bulldogs. They get all the credit for ... going scoreless the final 27 minutes of the game. For letting a QB whose passing was crapped on all offseason go 7-for-9 for 82 yards. For giving up 6.7 yards per play when the backup came in. Muh goodness.
THIS is the team that simply must hand a playoff spot. Their best win is a loss, when they blew a two-TD lead, and got outscored 21-0 down the stretch. And ran a fake punt option with the backup QB and punter.
-
Everyone Catch Haskins flash the Heisman pose?
I still think he ends up 3rd, Fox announcers saying voters have already cast their votes before championship games.
Best Player on Best Team is the 'bama QB.
Most exciting player on a Great Team is the OU QB.
Best stats from the most overrated 12-1 team 'eva is OSU QB.
-

Yeah he’s gone. He’ll be a top 10 pick.
He’s thrown 47 TD passes on the season with another game to play. He’ll crack 50 TD passes on the season. Insane.
Extremely envious of Ohio State’s offense. That’s the offense I want to see at Michigan.
-
I really wouldn't worry about UGA in the playoff, guys. Ain't happening.

Yeah it’s absolutley pathetic.
They blew a 14 point lead to a back-up that is really a RB playing QB and lost the game.
They have ZERO argument. They’re finished.

I still think he'll be #3 too. I'll tell you what, these top 3 QBs are all unreal. This was a showcase day though, and Murray and Haskins showed out. Tua was awful, and then his team came from behind to win onlymonce he was knocked out of the game. With only 10% of the ballots already cast, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't wind up winning it, after being the leader all year. How good has QB play gotten when Will Grier won't even get an invite? Granted it doesn't help that RB/WRs didn't make a huge case this year. Taylor and the Memphis kid I assume are nominees for Best RB? Who else? I can't even hazard a guess for Biletnikoff finalists.
-
Talking Heads need to generate controversy. I guess the bigger controversy for OU in the 4th spot was, the 2 loss SEC runner up, versus a 1 loss Big Ten Champ. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
So let's say Clemson and OSU win.
Oh well.
I think you have the matches right, but wrong games. UCF was in the Peach last year so I think they go to the Fiesta to avoid a repeat.
-
I'd love to go to the Fiesta if Florida comes here. I just don't want it to be against UCF.
-
Fox had some good comments on playoffs
1) They all had OU 3 and ND 4.
2) Jim Delany / B1G is gonna be super pissed for the Big Ten Champ getting passed over the last 3 years, while arguably having the best division.
The committee doesn't have the balls to do this, but I would shit green and gold if they put ND 5th and said join a conference or miss the playoffs. Could you imagine and ND Clemson ACC title match? That would have been a hella good watch there. instead our last image of ND is struggling against a non-bowl bound team.
-

Afraid of the best team from Florida are ya?

Won’t happen but I’d love it to. ND absolutely should be forced to join a conference. I think it’s bullshit they got to half join the ACC. They should’ve been forced to shit or get off the pot.
-
Afraid of the best team from Florida are ya?
Of course.
Like the players themselves, I'd like to play a helmet program in the bowl game. I'd like the Gators to be highly motivated by a sexy opponent.
-
UGA is the second best team in the nation- it's that simple. OU, w/o zebras, are nothing. tOSU lost to Purdue in dramatic fashion. Clemson and Bama are big boy undefeated teams.
the real bitch here is ND, who polishes their nails on their chest as if they've earned anything with that schedule... When is the last time ND had two games back to back of decent opponents? They are nothing more than a mid major- period. Anyone in the top ten would take them down- conspicuously, UCF is on that list- also undefeated.
as i said earlier, OU had every first down in the first quarter awarded to them, and they still couldn't deliver. so, the ref's turned up the heat. Once Texas was beginning to attempt high risk plays, OU genuinely started to look good.. who wouldn't if they synthetically do what their D (or O for that matter) couldn't which is the primary goal of a first half: take your opponent out of their game plan and rhythm? they can tip their scumbag brims at the zebras for that- the ZEBRAS took UTa out of the game, not the sooners.
UGA made stooopid mistakes. there were three plays in that game where their D effed the dog. only three. how many major goofs did any other team have on D today? ... i betcha a helluva lot more than three- but they weren't playing Bama, so... they roll...
Pitt never had a chance, and still left it all on the field. I've got nothing but respect for NW. tOSU, when they want to, can play as good as anyone but Bama. I'd wager they would knock a good passage right through Clemson if the opportunity presented itself- but they still lost to Purdue. Pur-Due.
straight up- UGA had their chance. they lost.
tOSU was suffering some weird ailment when they lost to Purdue- and Purdue played with MASSIVE heart that game and I was proud of them while not even being a fan of their 'middle of a corn field campus stack of nerds'... (that was harsh, i actually admire Purdue).
OU has benefited from ref's all season. the refs of the 12 are ATROCIOUS- and I PRAY they don't get the big dance. They should be sitting on the sidelines in Idaho or Montana or something... I used to think Stoops had some secret HDD full of data that would send anyone even remotely related to bowl selection to hell bypass jail- but he's gone... I don't know how they continue to screw the field.
That leaves one team- glaringly- who didn't play today- sitting atop all others as if they're 'really something'....
y'all ought to stop worrying about UGA... as good as they are they had their chance and now they're a two loss team... it's ND that is casing the congestion in traffic, just like that ass hole you pass every morning heading to work who is so oblivious of anyone else on the planet that he rides in the left lane taking selfies and posting images of his breakfast half way out of his head on his facebook page that is bereft of 'friends' to begin with AS IF he thinks the entire world looks at him every day just dying to know 'how he's feeeeeling'... seriously... EFFF the Irish.
-
I bet ND texts while driving.
-
I bet ND runs the neighborhood HOA too.
-
I'd vote Murray for the Heisman. Running that well with those passing stats while going 12-1 with that defense is SICK.:PDT_Armataz_01_37:
-
ND leaves the toilet seat up.
ND eats babies.
ND offers you 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife.
ND overstays its welcome.
ND still pays by check.
ND hates Christmas.
ND hates BBQ and chili.
ND orders the house wine.
ND doesn't recycle.
-

Sorry we don't know that, they don't finish out.last season they lost to a team that lost to UCF.UCF just ran the table and put up 55 with their back up QB.And ND has a NFL offensive line.Dawgs lost twice thanx for playing but no participation trophies or opinions -Thank You from the rest of the field.I don't like ND as they recruit Ohio hard and didn't play a CCG.We'll find out when they tee it up and that's way it should be
-
Last season? Heheheheeee
-
No they got some studs on they O-Line this season also. Two losses - if they're looking for sympathy it's between shit and syphilis
-
Nah. He’s a doosh.
Georgia just lost to an Alabama back-up that should be playing RB when they had a 14 point lead. They out.
26-2 as a starter
63% career passer
47 TD passes to 12 INTs
148.6 career pass rating
You can make the case against Georgia without trashing a good player on Alabama.
-
It's not all resume, it's not all eye-test.
Georgia probably is one of the 4 best teams. They ALSO don't deserve to be in the playoff. Both can be true (and are).
-
No,no they're not SEC fans so doesn't make it so either.Sorry can't close

Not trashing him. Just calling it like I see it.
Don’t care what his record as a starter is. He wasn’t the primary reason his team had that record.
He’s playing on an all-star team in a system that manufactures #’s even if said QB isn’t all that great. He reminds me of Tebow or Denard in that way. Tebow completed 67% the year he won the Heisman. Denard Robinson completed 68% his breakout sophomore year. Both of those guys SUCKED at throwing the football. And so does Jalen Hurts.
-
I'd vote Murray for the Heisman. Running that well with those passing stats while going 12-1 with that defense is SICK.:PDT_Armataz_01_37:
Pains me to say it, but I’d vote for Dwayne Haskins. Some of the throws he’s made this year just made my jaw drop. Can’t remember a single throw Murray made that made me go WHOA like that. Haskins is a 1st round NFL draft pick and an NFL QB. Murray ain’t.
Haskins threw for 47 TDs and about 4,500 yards and basically carried that team on his back. Give him the Trophy.
-
It's not all resume, it's not all eye-test.
Georgia probably is one of the 4 best teams. They ALSO don't deserve to be in the playoff. Both can be true (and are).
Georgia isn’t one of the best 4. They proved that tonight by losing to a team with a back-up QB that sucks at throwing the football.
Georgia has a dumb coach and a poor front 7 that can’t stop the run. They aren’t one of the best 4 teams in my opinion. And any one saying they are as if it’s fact is just deluding themselves.
-
If I’m Bama the one team I don’t want to play is Ohio State.
Some of the throws that Haskins can make- there is just no defense for. They have the best passing offense in the nation. Not Oklahoma. OU has the best all-around offense bc of Murray’s ability as a runner- but no one can threaten the entire field and anywhere on it with their arm the way Haskins can.
If a game manager like Jake Fromm and those pedestrian Georgia receivers ate them up- they don’t want to see a 1st round NFL QB with a howitzer like Haskins and an OSU WR corps that just might be the deepest in the nation.
-
Of course.
Like the players themselves, I'd like to play a helmet program in the bowl game. I'd like the Gators to be highly motivated by a sexy opponent.
I cringed when UW got stuck playing in the Cotton against Western Michigan a couple of years ago. Of course, I'd probably be happy about it this year, in hindsight.
-

Which of Hurts' throws last night were sucky?
UGA is 27th vs the run, OSU is 62nd.
Who is sharing their opinion as fact?
Are you frothing at the mouth again?
-
UGA should not be in any discussion, Sugar Bowl bound, could end up ranked 3rd or so with a win there.
They did have issues stopping the run this season. Hurts is not at all a bad QB.
-
No,no they're not SEC fans so doesn't make it so either.Sorry can't close
Could you provide a list of teams you think would get up by 14 points on Alabama into the 3rd quarter? That would be helpful.
When a 12 point underdawg loses by 7, I've never seen it described as such a crime, lol.
-

I agree, there's no way UGA is in the playoff. But to see the backlash from even suggesting they may actually be one of the 4 best teams is interesting.
-
Well, when some at ESPN are calling for it, you expect backlash. ESPN of course encourages such opinions so as to get attention.
When they just show the games, fine, but their "analysis" is irrelevant.
-
I have noted before that upsets happen in playoffs fairly often. The opponents are usually good teams also, maybe not as good as the one they beat, but on that day they beat them. Fine. In any single elimination playoff, nobody gets a mulligan.
Lose and you get a consolation prize. It still could be a decent season for a very young UGA team, and I think Smart is still figuring out how to coach.
-

No #1 seed has won the playoff, is that correct?

UGA is the second best team in the nation- it's that simple.
Georgia probably is one of the 4 best teams.
That's not suggesting that's pretty much proclaiming.Bias,we all do it,so perhaps if either of you had a vote OU/ND/tOSU or UCF would be left out as a withering, trampled cabbage leaf. And SEC gets another do over - that is SICK.It's a damn shame UCFs QB got hurt,IMO the committee could not pass them up a second year in a row
-
I'd love to go to the Fiesta if Florida comes here. I just don't want it to be against UCF.
hah! you wouldn't be highly motivated
-
No matter how Drew states something, it's still just his opinion.
It's honestly like you're not reading any of my posts. I'd vote Ohio State in over Georgia, while acknowledging UGA might be one of the 4 best teams. I don't see any crime being committed there.
And no, even with Milton healthy, UCF would be nowhere near 4th. They'd be behind Michigan and Georgia, for sure. As I said a few weeks ago, UCF would have won 25 straight games AND not deserve a playoff spot. Both can be true (and are).
-
hah! you wouldn't be highly motivated
Exactly! :72:
-
No #1 seed has won the playoff, is that correct?
Yes and that proves nothing. They didn't in 2014,is that correct? Why don't you go wait in line behind Finebaum and Danielson to plant one on St Nick's Hiney.Don't blow 2 TD leads to teams that were tied with the Citadel for a half - see how that works
-
You're awfully hostile, and I don't know why. I was just clarifying something I wasn't sure was accurate. Wasn't even trying to make a point, lol. But you read into it that I was.
Chill.
-

Well understand on the heels of the game those come across as accepted fact."Probably" doesn't suggest "maybe","simple as that" doesn't suggest maybe. It's alright to have opinions but to those not under the SEC umbrella it appears rather slanted .And I don't think tOSU belongs this season.Last season's squad was loaded and IMO Urbz got complacent
-

You also - you rushed to counter both MDoT's and my own takes in an attempt to dismiss them out of hand.Like their was absolutely no logic or reasoning behind them
-
I cringed when UW got stuck playing in the Cotton against Western Michigan a couple of years ago. Of course, I'd probably be happy about it this year, in hindsight.
did the badgers show up w/o motivation and lose the game?
-
I would include the Buckeyes and the Sooners in the playoff, leaving out Notre Dame
I also think Georgia is one of the best 4 teams, but would leave them out
no, I wouldn't put UCF in.
-
HOW DARE YOU, SIR!!!:91:
-
You also - you rushed to counter both MDoT's and my own takes in an attempt to dismiss them out of hand.Like their was absolutely no logic or reasoning behind them
I posted a few questions. Didn't really get answers, just vitriol.
-
2) Jim Delany / B1G is gonna be super pissed for the Big Ten Champ getting passed over the last 3 years, while arguably having the best division.

has he grabbed a microphone and plea his case for the Buckeyes?

Of course you wouldn't they remind you of another previously nonexistent football program from FLA that emerged in the mid '80's to usurp Dr Tom's juggernaut.Just trying to stir the pot, you'd leave out ND because they're recruiting kids that you wish they had in Lincoln :dink: .I do not like ND but this season they deserve to be there
-
I think most agree that teams that "deserve" to be in the playoff might well NOT be the "four best teams".
-
I posted a few questions. Didn't really get answers, just vitriol.
Back at you just turned your arguments around and didn't get any answers either, just how dare you - you want to keep it up?
-
agreed, but I also think the Buckeyes and Sooners as conference champs deserve to be there
My memory is crap, but I'd say this season is the toughest to call fro the committee
I can see legit arguments for 6 teams, possibly 7 if you include UCF
-
Back at you just turned your arguments around and didn't get any answers either, just how dare you - you want to keep it up?
I'm guessing neither of you has anything better to do this morning
-
I'd keep it simple:
Bama
Clemson
ND
OU
There will always be some controversy about #4. It's inherent, but don't over think this stuff.
-
I'm guessing neither of you has anything better to do this morning
You defending a fellow pot stirrer?Too early for BUD and too cold to golf?

too derned much snow and slush in my driveway!!!
Coffee until the driveway is cleared, then BUD

does Georgia possibly get in if Florida wins over Mizzou and LSU wins the 7 overtime game?
-
does Georgia possibly get in if Florida wins over Mizzou and LSU wins the 7 overtime game?
Hopefully none of that matters. If they had a snazzy road win over ND this year it might, but they don't.
-
Does Nebraska get in if they don't lose to Troy?Sorry I have nothing better to do
-
The committee is enamored with OU's offense...which is cool, but ignores their 86th-ranked defense.
-
I think they will see that loss to Purdue as much worse than a loss to Texas, and that is that.
-

OSU's offense is very similar
-
Hopefully none of that matters. If they had a snazzy road win over ND this year it might, but they don't.
just saying, when your best win is a loss. Perhaps you wish your conference mates would have held up their end and gave you better win.
Same could be said for the Irish. Stanford and USC and FSU let them down
-
Does Nebraska get in if they don't lose to Troy?Sorry I have nothing better to do
you could spend 20 minutes in my driveway
-
Well, when some at ESPN are calling for it, you expect backlash. ESPN of course encourages such opinions so as to get attention.
When they just show the games, fine, but their "analysis" is irrelevant.
ESPN has always had an SEC bias. Of course....they are also invested in the SEC so it's not surprising. Georgia had their shot last night and crumbled down the stretch. Are they one of the top four teams? Maybe. But results matter. And they lost. ND is probably the weakest of the six in the discussion.....but they won all of their games and played some decent teams.
I'm hoping that OSU makes it, since that gives a good shot for PSU to get a NY6 bowl and knock all the B10 teams up a bowl slot. But I'm not sure if they deserve it over OU. My Gophers played them awfully tight into the 4th quarter with a good shot to take a lead @ the shoe. The very next week, the 6-6 Boilermakers absolutely embarrassed them. So, I guess we'll see what happens.
-
you could spend 20 minutes in my driveway
I could but if I make it into the garage your stash of Bud Fat will be take a hit.Sunny and 59 in NE Ohio
-
I'm always willing to share the stash

Man it's nice here today, the rain stopped and I won't even need a coat to walk to brunch. Might dine outside.
This is "Mimosa Sunday" in the ATL.
-
I enjoyed shoveling my driveway the last few years. Of course, it was a tiny driveway, but it was a great back workout. Now, you people with big front yards and 30-yard driveways.....F- that.

OSU's offense is very similar
Ehhh, yes and no. OSU is 2nd to OU in total yards per game, but in yards per play, they fall way behind....like 2 yards per play behind. Massive difference, actually.

I'm still cleaning up leaves.

Unfortunately so is their defense

This is "Mimosa Sunday" in the ATL.
What does that mean?Mass for migrating Yankees

I think they will see that loss to Purdue as much worse than a loss to Texas, and that is that.
Possibly so, and likely. That Texas loss to Maryland though.
-
I doubt it will happen, but if UGA is 4th, everyone will go ape spit, but the Big XII commissioner cannot. He can't be against an ALA-UGA rematch when his conference scheduled a rematch before the season started.
Congrats on the big win over OU, Horns...now go do it again.
Congrats on the big win over UGA, Tide...now go do it again.

I know that their setup is asinine.

Brewing beer today. Outside in the garage in shorts & flip flops.
(Yes, I know flip flops are not appropriate brewing footwear, but I'm a risk-taker lol...)
-
Heh I'm in shorts and sandals today in Columbus. Weather be crazy

I enjoyed shoveling my driveway the last few years. Of course, it was a tiny driveway, but it was a great back workout. Now, you people with big front yards and 30-yard driveways.....F- that.
my 56 year old back doesn't need the aggravation

Now that the bowls are set, I'm trying to figure out how to rile @MrNubbz (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=17) again.. That was kinda fun.
Anyway...
I appreciate the committee this season, who righteously entered a G5 team in the playoff... Kudos and good for them!!! I just wish it had been UCF instead of ND.....
Hehehehehehheeeeeee...........

Does anyone here like barrel-aged beers?
I generally don't. But the beer I'm making today is a Russian Imperial Stout. My homebrew club has secured two 55gal bourbon barrels, and between all of us in the club we're brewing 110 gallons of RIS to age. Of my 10 gallon batch, I'll be devoting 5 gallons to the project.
I may not often drink RIS or barrel-aged beers, but figured I might as well not pass this opportunity up.

Ive got a buddy north a bit who is an accomplished brewer. Hes gonna hook me up a nice wash thats flatter than a pancake... That'll end up in a barrel... A five gallon deep charred white oak barrel... Then I'll play the "window seal then freezer then window seal game" for the next three or so months, on alternating weeks. He's gotta brew up about fifteen gallons to ensure my five. Its best if its around 10~14 proof on his end... By the time I'm bothering the cooper, it will be 80~90 or so.

there was a small Brew/Pub that I use to frequent that supposedly used the same recipe that The English Royal Court had sent the Romanov's when they got married in the 1890's.This was back in like 1999 and even then it was like 15.00 a sixer.I told him the average beer enthusiast isn't that curious.Natty Lite never looked so good.If I was in your zip code I'd procure some if available sounds like a fine frothy elixir :singing:
