In case anyone was wondering whether MSUs offense was that terrible or Nebraska's defense was improved.
-
It appears as though the Bulls will win the Mac East.
-
At least we have BTN at the in-laws' house. Robert Morris @ Purdue MBB on while we wait for the ladies to get ready for wine tasting.
-
Flipped on Wisconsin Virginia to see them talking about Duke, complete with a graphic about Zion Williamson.
-
Looks like we have a game in Iowa City.
I'll be heading to Crisler for UM-Chattanooga shortly.
-
Could Fox get any closer on the replays?
-
The nursery we used to get our tree from and delivered to our house went out of business last week. Bummer. 58 years.
-
What the hell is Ferentz doing?

Ferentz with the brass balls

They're gonna lose their coach too. He's too good to be buried in the MAC.
-
This is where I don't like the redshirt rule. Arkansas treating this like an exhibition game, playing random freshmen.
-

The fake field goal was about as dumb as you can get. Being aggressive is fine, having absolutely no awareness of football math is not.

By God at least they are freshmen who don't flirt with girls

Looked like a first year coach. Absolutely no urgency. He’s lucky his kicker bailed him out in pretty tough weather conditions.
-
They're gonna lose their coach too. He's too good to be buried in the MAC.
Hopefully.

Dantonio did it against Indiana, and it worked, I still hated it.

Forget that. They are heroes for doing the right thing.

between ucf qb Milton and Alex Smith we’ve seems some of the worst injuries I can remember in a long time. Hope they both recover quickly and fully.

Ouch that's gotta hurt Virginia

Heavy wet snow now in Apple cup

I know I'm a broken record here, but this is not football. WV-OU
-
Shall I assume that this thread will serve as the SOC for tomorrow? I'd hate to start a new one when we have this stream of wonderful.
No cooking tomorrow. Going to a Japanese joint for the kids' birthdays, as we've done since who knows when. One is going to be 27 and the other 30. Holy shit.
Where does time go?
-
This is where I don't like the redshirt rule. Arkansas treating this like an exhibition game, playing random freshmen.
I agree. However, they aren't going to win the game. By point differential, this year's Razorbacks are the 5th-worst winless (in SEC games) team since division play began in 1992.
-
I know I'm a broken record here, but this is not football. WV-OU
Conference was insulted an NFL game was higher scoring than any XII game. To date
-
Fox resorting to CG to impose yard line hashes and numerals in this snowball Apple cup.

That’s some heavy snow

Forget that. They are heroes for doing the right thing.
If they aren't going to be football robots, take their scholarships.

Yeah, this isolated incident, not so much. But what do 6-5, 7-4 or 8-3 teams have to lose by using finales just to get some redshirting players experience? I think the bowl games are REALLY going to be glorified spring games.
-
Even MSU could score on these defenses
-
Probably not good strategy to throw to back of end zone in this snow
-
Oklahoma-WVU just needs to be stopped.
-
The only thing that isn't infuriating to my senses about this football game is watching happy kids celebrate so many touchdowns. But seriously, this is essentially an auto-7 points per drive, assuming one can avoid a turnover. Sportswise, Big XII football really must be the most inane thing that 10+ million americans could ever LOVE.
-
Yet this is where football is going. Like it or not.
-
I'd like to trade the weather w the Apple cup please.
-
Oh my.
-
Yeah, this isolated incident, not so much. But what do 6-5, 7-4 or 8-3 teams have to lose by using finales just to get some redshirting players experience? I think the bowl games are REALLY going to be glorified spring games.
Big-time. Coaches are going to use that extra practice time and real-game situations against decent (but not truly meaningful) competition to fast-forward some young talent's development.
Bowl games will be like MLB's Futures Game.
-
Why would you even need to block an OU defender let alone all the way to the parking lot.
-
Oklahoma-WVU just needs to be stopped.
I'm going to call this new sport "Twelving" because calling it "football" isn't accurate. Not gonna bitch and moan, just going to call it something different. For example: "Monday night, the Rams beat the Chiefs in a game of twelving."
-
Yet this is where football is going. Like it or not.
Maybe. But even if that's true, by the time the Big Ten gets there, I wouldn't expect football to be the nation's #1 sport anymore.
It's. Purely. Stupid. To. Watch.
-
Why would you even need to block an OU defender let alone all the way to the parking lot.
I know OL are celebrated if they block a guy out of the endzone during goal line plays. What's the difference with what that WR did? Sure, it was overkill, but a 15 yard penalty shouldn't be called on a play his position coach is going to rant and rave about in the film room next week.
-
Not the type of game I expected to see that call.
-
"Twelving" is as fun as ...
Watching two teams of people wait in line at the grocery store, single file, lined up redteam-blueteam-redteam-blue..., and the winner is whoever makes the last purchase before the store closes.
-
If OU gets into the playoff, I predict the Sooners will not average 9 yards per play vs a non-BigXII big-boy team.
-
Heather Dinnich is pretty when she's not doing the frowny-smiling thing.

Um,no she's on the cusp of meh - then she opens her mouth

Counterpoint, it is in fact accurate to call it football because it is football.

Damn I meant to catch Farmageddon yesterday appears I missed a good one,but got busy.Cindy literally has over 1/2 the garage attic filled with Christmas decorations.I have no idea how many times I went up/down the attic stairs, then up/down the basement stairs where our rec room/man cave is located. Then of course she decorates the living room and back room. She rivals anything the local shopping malls do.
-
very poor timing

I'm re-watching Farmageddon now.

Should rival OU-WVU
-
Football is already over for the weekend and now Texas will prepare to beat the hell out of the Sooners a second time this season.
But, I'll probably have Michigan-Ohio State on in the background whilst decorating the tree.
-
I picked the Badgers and Wolverines to cover
well Ann Arbor is a whore and so are you - so you have that going for you
-
Should rival OU-WVU
Would be curious to see MSU-WVU in a bowl game just to see what would happen. We lost both games to OSU and Nebraska, but both times our crappy offense/great defense combo dictated style. Wonder if it would also be the case against OSU/Nebraska great O/crappy D, taken to the extreme.
-
Osu and Nebraska scored a meager 67 points.
-
well Ann Arbor is a whore and so are you - so you have that going for you
I've heard she's actually a really nice girl, once you get know her. However, I haven't met her, so I have no opinion of my own.

Recruits from FL.

I disagree. Football has 3 facets - offense, defense, and special teams.
Twelving has only 2 facets.

when I place a wager on a team like Michigan, it's more times than not, the kiss of death

Driving Highway 35 through the southern half of Ohio this rainy morning. Listening to the Buckeyes official pregame broadcast on 1410am, Dayton’s sports talk. The weather doesn’t help it’s cause, but man is Dayton dismal.
-
I normally can find something redeeming about any place I visit. I have to admit, I struggle to find much to like about Dayton (and Waco, save a dive bar).

Crossing routes crossing routes crossing routes
-
Crossing routes crossing routes crossing routes
You mean crossing routes with picks.
Should be Offensive PI, but they are never called.
-
Shea should’ve kept that ball. Would’ve had 30 yards at least.
Not liking what I’m seeing out of this offensive play calling at all.
-
Yeah, run it with a FB on 1st down. Makes sense. Yeeessh.
-
This is not how you attack OSU’s slow LBs. you don’t run right at them with a fb or Higdon up the gut.
-
These offensive coaches truly do not have a clue.
-
That's half of an answer.
-
It must’ve been 4th and 2 or 3 at most. You go for it in that field position in this game. Field goals aren’t going to cut it. I hate Harbaugh’s plodding offenses and his conservative approach to offense. He’s outdated.
-
That was a lot of talk about holding for a WR who, regardless the hand stuff, had already quit his route.
-
Bucks gonna struggle if refs let that go all game
-
Bucks gonna struggle if refs let that go all game
If Ohio state wants to pick on every crossing route, should be allowed to hold.
-
Wow!
-
Jim Harbaugh sucks at coaching offense.
-
OSU defenders, hands on knees, panting earlier than you'd expect. Need to keep driving like this.
4 YPP, 4 YPP, 4 YPP.
-
Zach Gentry is never going to live up to his potential with drops like that.
-
Werner actually makes a play
-
If the defense can hold again, I'm officially less worried about these FGs than MDot.
-
Bummer of a drop by Gentry, of course.
-
Werner actually makes a play
Gentry has to hold on there. He’s a freak but he often fails at the biggest moments or on the toughest catches. Really thought he’d surpass Jake Butt but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Jake would’ve held on to that and caught the one last week vs Indiana for the TD.
-
Where’s the flag? That was a hell of a hit by Bush.
-
That was a weak call

Blue can't complain about the refs this year.

Nice to see a game finally called fair in Columbus.

How could we tell? They never showed a relevant replay. Kept showing the bush tackle from various cameras.

Nice to see a game finally called fair in Columbus.
Lol. Perfect response.
-
I'm ready for a bomb to Tarik Black. How about you guys?
-
How could we tell? They never showed a relevant replay. Kept showing the bush tackle from various cameras.
They did, Pridgeon shoved a guy down the field. The shoved guy didnt even fall down. It was just easy to miss because it wasnt much of anything.
-
Patterson is dealing today
-
Surprised refs saw that
-
Jim Harbaugh can go f himself.
-
Punting mismatch reveals itself. Won't be the last time, I fear.
-
They have to do something about these damn crossing routes. Don Brown needs to adjust his coverage schemes ASAP.
-
Olave!
-
Brandon Watson has been abused all game long.
-
Olave!
Not your most celebrated, but I think that's by far the WR on OSU's roster that Michigan wanted most.
-
Brandon Watson has been abused all game long.
After an objectively great season, no less.
-
Haskins checking into open looks. Open guys everywhere on that drive.
-
One of the biggest mysteries of the season, nationally, is how Michigan went from the nation's #1 pass rush to this, versus Rutgers, IU and OSU even. All flawed at pass blocking this season. Super weird. 4 weeks ago, we'd have predicted this sack differential, except in the other direction.
-
I’ve seen enough of Harbaugh and his crap offenses.
If he’s not willing to change and move to a style of offense like OSU, Bama, or OSU he can take a hike.
-
McKeon is f’ing TRASH. WHY DOES HE CONTINUE TO PLAY.
-
Punting mismatch continues.
-
Not your most celebrated, but I think that's by far the WR on OSU's roster that Michigan wanted most.
Probably. He's only playing because Austin Mack got hurt, but can't argue with what he's doing today
-
Come on refs
-
Time to bench Brandon Watson.
-
HORRENDOUS tackling by Hudson there.
-
Apparently Michigan’s defense forgot how to tackle, rush the passer, and cover. Disgusting display of shit offense and defense today.

God awful. They never got off the bus. Playing soft

Big answer there

Well shit

Favorite onside kick ever.

terrible play call on the 2 point.

WHY IS BRADON WATSON STILL PLAYING?
bench him. Now.
-
WHY IS BRADON WATSON STILL PLAYING?
bench him. Now.
You know what would be awesome, Gary or Winovich or anyone put pressure on Haskins. Any pressure.. anything
-
How many pass interference calls can the refs call in one game?
I think they are trying to set the record.
-
How many pass interference calls can the refs call in one game?
I think they are trying to set the record.
Both teams play a lot of man and grab a lot, so could be a lot
-
Don Brown needs to keep Hudson in coverage and Bush rushing the passer. He needs to play more zone. And bench Watson. And bring some exotic blitzes.
He’s sticking to his man to man guns and keeping Bush in coverage and he’s getting torched.
If it’s not working ADJUST.
-
Man this game
-
They need to make SERIOUS defensive adjustments if they want ANY shot at a comeback.
-
Down 5 is a win, but in a gradient of awful feeling kind of way. Was worse. Still bad.
Now Don Brown: That thing where you shut down an offense after the half. Yeah. Do that.
Starting with QB pressure could be all it'll take. Haskins is throwing either perfectly or way errantly, pending pressure.
-
It’s a miracle this is a 5 point game. I don’t see Michigan stopping this offense and Michigan doesn’t have enough firepower on offense to stay in it.
-
I really thought the Wolverine defense was a lot better than this. They've looked pretty awful today.
Definitely lucky to only be down by 5.
-
Hornibrook starting for the Badgers today.
-
Heckuva a game so far, Does not disappoint. Lot of self inflicted wounds so far..penalties, dropped passes, dropped kickoff.
Someone is going to clean that up and win.
-
It’s a miracle this is a 5 point game. I don’t see Michigan stopping this offense and Michigan doesn’t have enough firepower on offense to stay in it.
Don Brown needs to prove that Urban hasn't downloaded him. *Needs* to use halftime as he often has, with creative changes that entirely rearrange the front.
These two things would change everything:
(1) Get pressure on Haskins. Honestly, this alone could be enough.
If it isn't enough:
(2) Consider whether Ambry is ready to replace BWat. Watson has been great this season, perhaps equal or better to Long/Hill in production, but we entered the year worried about him, and that is coming back in full force. I'm not sure Ambry is ready. May be. But he's certainly as fast as the Buckeye receivers, which would change a lot. Assuming he can stay in position. I'm skeptical but hopeful of that. Only DBrown and Zordich knows for sure.
-
Is this twelving?
Only if both teams get to 50, and one wins by 3.
-
Pressure Haskins, Michigan wins. Keep him clean, and it's OSU.
-
That was a big stop. But it wasn't the way I'd expect. Winovich's TFL from the backside was big, but the rest was a suddenly familiar (existent!) coverage.
-
Bucks can't give up on running
-
Oh so close to a fumble TD
-
That was a big stop. But it wasn't the way I'd expect. Winovich's TFL from the backside was big, but the rest was a suddenly familiar (existent!) coverage.
Wasted. Now they have to do it again on a shorter field. Eff
-
Shea Patterson is playing like dog shit this game.
Leaving the pocket when there’s no pressure and he’s been late as hell with his reads and throws. That throw to Higdon right there...late.
He throws that ball right away after the snap instead of hesitating and throwing late- Higdon gets the 1st down instead of blown up and incomplete.
-
Michigan needed to score at least 3 there and give their defense a rest.
What happens? THREE AND OUT.
Harbaugh has to make serious changes to his offensive staff. Or he has to leave.
-
Last five game minutes have taken 75 minutes
-
Rashan Gary hurt. Weird. Watching this game I didn’t know he even played in this game.
-
Purdue and Indiana need to stick w these uniforms and helmets. Really good look.
-
Rashan Gary hurt. Weird. Watching this game I didn’t know he even played in this game.
The entire D line has been irrelevant.
-
I’m out. Can’t watch any more of this GARBAGE.
How can they get ZERO pressure at all? Disgusting.
-
Bucks could really use a touchdown here. Struggled in this spot all season. Read option?
-
Effing woof. Very little payoff for arriving here with Long, Gary and Bush healthy.
-
Bush probably just tore his ACL. Great.
-
That was stupid
-
I dont mind Tater, but gee whiz run a different play
-
Michigan HAS to get a td and 2 point here. HAVE to or this game is over.
-
Ambry Thomas with a colossal dumbass move. Jesus.
-
That was stupid
Not passing? Probably. But Michigan's "on paper" defensive weakness is the DTs, and winning up the middle in short yardage is demoralizing. I get the play calls. You're right though in that it didn't work. I just see why Meyer tried.
-
Ohio State blitzing every damn play yet haven’t seen a screen pass yet.
Good ply calling. Not.
-
WHAT THE F%%% was that?!
Harbaugh is getting his ASS handed to him in the coaching match up.
-
HOW DID GENTRY DROP THAT! AGAIN.
-
Michigan can't win without the roll-Patterson-out offense.
-
Special teams!
-
Harbaugh is trash. Feasts in bad teams.
Shit coaching vs the good ones.
I’m done. Dude can pack his bags and leave.
-
the punt looked slow, guy shouldn't be able to take that route and get to the punt in time
-
Ha. I don't think you're done this time, either MDot. You keep popping back up.
-
HOW DID GENTRY DROP THAT! AGAIN.
Better ? - why is this the offense? If I was a WR recruit, I wouldn’t consider Harbaugh. They waste Black, DPj and Collins. The offense is stupid.0
-
Better ? - why is this the offense? If I was a WR recruit, I wouldn’t consider Harbaugh. They waste Black, DPj and Collins. The offense is stupid.0
Amen.
Gentry just dropped ANOTHER huge ball.
F this coaching staff.
-
Michigan has fallen out of the window where running its offense makes sense. Any play call except pass, Patterson run (arc keeper), or screen is a waste.
-
Michigan has fallen out of the window where running its offense makes sense. Any play call except pass, Patterson run (arc keeper), or screen is a waste.
Michigan’s offense is an entire waste.
Black, DPJ, and Nico aren’t getting any balls thrown there way at all. Why?
-
Fuller!
-
WHAT. WAS THAT?
Just throw it away Shea. Throw it away. Jesus.
-
Yeesh another short and goal
-
How long until we get to say: "Well, at least we tied for 1st in the Division, which removes at least one bad hot take. I guess that's progress" and sulk until August?
That starts now, right? I think now is when. Is it? Already?
-
WHAT. WAS THAT?
Just throw it away Shea. Throw it away. Jesus.
He clearly tried.
-
Harbaugh can go back to the NFL any time he wants.
Keep Don Brown and go after Oklahoma’s OC or something.
I’m done with this version of Michigan. It’s reached its pinnacle.
-
Canada's worst decision of the year was starting the RS Freshman over Piggy.
No doubt, Maryland had a better chance of making it a game vs Michigan, and every other team we struggled against this year.
-
That was not interference
-
Pep Hamilton made Andrew Luck look mediocre. Think about that for a second.
-
Canada's worst decision of the year was starting the RS Freshman over Piggy.
No doubt, Maryland had a better chance of making it a game vs Michigan, and every other team we struggled against this year.
Michigan still had a pass rush versus Maryland. We lost it 2-3 weeks ago for unknown reasons versus weaker OLs (beginning with Rutgers, and also absent versus IU).
-
That was not interference
Absolutely was. He arm barred Nico.
-
That was not interference
Agreed l. Terrible call. I can’t believe they even looked at the hit on Gentry. Wasn’t close to targeting.
-
Big, big series here to start the fourth quarter.
-
Agreed l. Terrible call. I can’t believe they even looked at the hit on Gentry. Wasn’t close to targeting.
I think the system is set for a healthy review on any probable concussion. The call was correct, though (I agree).
-
Btw is anyone else having flashbacks to 2006?
-
Only Harbaugh could make a bad defense like OSUs look great.
-
Wtf! That’s a touchdown!
-
Sheffield needs to register as a lobbyist
-
That'll come back pretty easily.
-
nice, started to throw to the bigtime WRs
why wait until the 4th quarter?
-
Easy call. TD,
-
nice, started to throw to the bigtime WRs
why wait until the 4th quarter?
Jim is mentally changed.
-
nice, started to throw to the bigtime WRs
why wait until the 4th quarter?
Harbaugh is a stubborn man. He thinks he’s in 1985 and football is won by who is tougher, when it’s actually decided by whose smarter.
-
Shouldn’t have chased the points there.
-
OSU not really equipped to just salt the game away
-
I did not trust this UM team. Feel slightly smart today.
-
Harbaugh is a stubborn man. He thinks he’s in 1985 and football is won by who is tougher, when it’s actually decided by whose smarter.
Amen.
Ohio St gets the ball out in space to it’s fast WRs.
Jim spends all game running right up the gut at Ohio st and trying to force the ball to TEs.
Is it any wonder why Ohio St is winning?
-
Only Harbaugh could make a bad defense like OSUs look great.
I agree the approach has been incorrect. Why put the ZR on film if not for today? And on this secondary, the only reasonable tactical approach is to laugh about the idea of needing to run.
The problem for Michigan/Harbaugh is that running/TOP has been not only part of the identity, but a successful identity to date. So, I'm pretty forgiving of the coaches for beginning with a run first strategy. The problem is that it wasn't until this drive that they abandoned it. And even now, they've only maybe abandoned it.
-
Well ok
-
Are you kidding me right now?
Are you fing kidding me?
-
Going for 2PCs is self-defeating if you can't prevent scores.
-
well guess the only thing you can do is run HUNH the entire way and pray to make it a respectable loss.
-
game over
didn't see this coming
guess I can mow some leaves
-
Harbaugh has been an embarrassment today.
If I was an offensive player in HS, I wouldn’t go play for him.
-
This offense is plodding and slow.
Hurry the hell up and snap the ball and go.
-
Florida State heads to 5-7. That's been awhile.
-
The Michigan nightmare isn't just losing, per se. It's not the offense or playcalling being garbage plus losing, either. The real nightmare is losing while the defense BY FAR ceases to deserve #1 respect. The defense has been our sole source of pride since 2011 or so, and when Don Brown was hired, that got ramped way up.
-
so, the question is: can Ohio St. jump Georgia and Oklahoma to get in the playoff?
-
That's incomplete
-
WHY does Shea keep shorting his passes?
Man if he was just on target with that it could’ve been a TD.
-
so, the question is: can Ohio St. jump Georgia and Oklahoma to get in the playoff?
No.
Their defense still sucks. Harbaugh just made them look good today.
-
No.
Their defense still sucks. Harbaugh just made them look good today.
Michigan didn't make OSU look good. It just didn't test their weaknesses to make them look bad.
-
Not sure about that call, but feel bad complaining with Patterson hurt
-
Michigan didn't make OSU look good. It just didn't test their weaknesses to make them look bad.
Same thing imo.
Bama, Georgia, or Oklahoma would score 70 on them.
-
Not sure about that call, but feel bad complaining with Patterson hurt
Agreed. Weak call, but I hope Shea ok. I really like that kid.
-
Not sure about that call, but feel bad complaining with Patterson hurt
I'm surprised it was seen, but by technical definition for at least a femtomoment, the hands were in the face. So feel it's the right call. However the rule was drawn because that can be dangerous, and in this case it wasn't and the injury is from the rest of the tackle.
-
The wolverines would be within 14 had they not gone for 2 those two times.
-
The wolverines would be within 14 had they not gone for 2 those two times.
Yup. Chasing points is generally a poor idea anyway, and he started doing in in the first half which is just foolish.
-
Same type of face mask called the other way.
-
Jim Harbaugh can go f%%# himself.
-
weak calls on the facemasks
too many penalties both sides
-
Man. Statement drive and statement game
-
The wolverines would be within 14 had they not gone for 2 those two times.
In retrospect, for sure. Though, I don't think the M coaches foresaw OSU scoring this many. And they honestly shouldn't have predicted this. So I'm pretty forgiving of that. If this were any other defense, they were the wrong calls right away. In a low-scoring game, it's at least debatable. Still perhaps the wrong move. Of course, even that is easier to say after they fail. Right now, at worst, they were "maybe wrong."
-
Woof. A lot of failures here. In retrospect, Michigan will definitely have wished it had forfeited instead.
-
Well Haskins is no Hornibrook but he's been all right today

How long until we get to say: "Well, at least we tied for 1st in the Division, which at least removes one empty hot take. I guess that's progress" and sulk until August?
That starts now, right? I think now is when. Is it? Already?
Yet?

Michigan still had a pass rush versus Maryland. We lost it 2-3 weeks ago for unknown reasons versus weaker OLs (beginning with Rutgers, and also absent versus IU).
Piggy can escape pressure, can throw, and can run better than Hill.
No one believes Piggy can throw, which is dead wrong, so Michigan would have had to keep an eye on both QB, RB, and threat of the pass, unlike with Hill.
Game planning changes quite a bit when the QB is a threat to do ANYTHING other than stand there like a statue.
-
Michigan isn't actually 23 points worse than OSU. This score isn't about talent differential. It's about bleah:
(1) Harbaugh clearly wanted to force his team's run first/TOP identity on OSU. It didn't work. And he adapted too slowly to win. The air raid worked once he started, but he wasted 2.5 quarters on run-run-pass beforehand.
(2) Michigan had the nation's best pass rush but only until the Rutgers game. I have no idea what happened. Rashan Gary came back that week. But that can't be it. (I think.) Anyway, Michigan had no pass rush v. the Sc.Knights or Hoosiers, either.
On the few games they pressured Haskins, he was errant as he has been all year. But Michigan was well below average in that.
-
Yet?
Definitely his best season. Freshman QB looks promising.
-
Well, I am surprised, and I can’t deny it.
If you would have told me Ohio State would allow zero sacks, or have over 300yards of passing, or have over 570 yards, or put up 62 on th nation’s best defense, or allow virtually zero explosive plays, I would have peed myself.
At some level, you can hate Meyer, but you have to give him some props.
-
MSUs defense has quit fighting an unwinnable fight
-
Meanwhile, at Camp Randall, Minnesota's lead has gone from 3-0 to 17-0 in six plays.
-
so, the question is: can Ohio St. jump Georgia and Oklahoma to get in the playoff?
Georgia has to defeat Alabama in the SEC Championship game for there to be any chance two SEC teams make the playoff. Oklahoma and Ohio State have one common opponent, TCU.
Ohio St 40 - TCU 28 (Ohio Stadium)
Oklahoma 52 - TCU 27 (Amon G. Carter Stadium @ TCU)
I think the only objective way to look at this is to compare results with a common opponent, and compare strength of schedule. Per Sagarin, and this would be through Nov. 17, Ohio State's SOS was 53rd; Oklahoma's 43rd. Congrove today has Ohio State's SOS 8th and Oklahoma's 15th. Not sure if that is for games through today because we would expect Ohio State's SOS to rise this week, having played Michigan. The computer rankings are all over the place ranking SOS.
When teams get past the conference playoffs, Oklahoma's SOS is likely to get stronger relative to Ohio State's. I doubt Northwestern will pass Texas in this week's polling.
If I were voting, I'd vote for Oklahoma at this point, provided both teams win their playoff. Too bad for the Big Ten Notre Dame had a signature season.

Is Hornibrook playing?

Just fyi, OSU played TCU at Jerry world in Texas
-
Lombardi has about the worst touch on his deep ball of antly QB ever
-
Hornibrook is playing, and he just drove the skunks to a TD with 1 second left in the half.
LB Cashman was sent off for targeting.
17-7 Gophers at the break. Skunks get the second half kickoff.
-

Thanks for the correction. Probably hurts Ohio State's chances getting into the playoff, even more, though.
-
Someone here told me that $ichigan had a great defense, LoL.
-
Lombardi has about the worst touch on his deep ball of antly QB ever
Sounds like Iowa made the right choice recruiting him as a linebacker.
-
Can't win at the Camp kicking field goals.
And here's another burned timeout from PJ. Game management is something he's really got to work on.
-
Refs giving this game away from the start. Running into the kicker when the guy hit the plant leg, hands to the face, unnecessary roughness on PSU until the crowd booed so they changed it....
F the B1G
-
Another drive stalled just outside the red zone. 42 yard FG is good.
23-7 Gophers with 1:02 left in the 3rd.
Ive been a Gopher fan for too long, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
-
Fourth quarter will start with a skunk punt from their own 31. Went 3 and out on their series after the last FG.

Texas is going to beat Oklahoma-- again-- so no worries for Ohio State on that front.
You're welcome.

It's hard to beat the same team twice.
-
Watch for this forum or the FB group of me with my Axe later tonight!
-
Woo Purdue going bowling!
Was listening on satellite radio as we're driving back from Oregon today.
-
I haven't seen any football for 3 f'ing weeks and I was looking forward to it. Instead, The Game wasn't a game and then this shit happens.
If Hornibrook ever touches the football after this season I'll be very disappointed. He threw up all over the field today and a f'ing AXE came out of his ass. All to save a redshirt for a career backup?
W.T.F.
Season is a complete failure now, if it already wasn't. The "best" offensive line in the country sucked. A "record-setting" offense was offensive at best. What a waste of the best running back in the country.
-
If the Utes win the Pac 12 then it would be kind of cool for Urban to take on his old team in the Rose Bowl imo.
-
easily the craziest season for the B1G since the Huskers joined
-

No question about that.
Watch... NU wins the B1G next weekend. Just to add to the crazy.

If I've learned anything here, your favorite team ONLY loses when you don't see it.
So, technically, it's ALL YOUR FAULT.

Tell us how you really feel. I was under the impression injuries brought the mighty Badgers back to the pack of the BTW.
Sucks losing the Axe after all these years, those gopher kids are are pretty excited to go bowling.

By God Rutger
-
This has moved to if Dantonio wants to keep a single offensive assistant, fire him.
-
It is fun to see the Gophers win after all of the flack that they and their coach have gotten from Badger fans.
It would also be nice to see Rutgers get another big win, after the way that they've become everyone's whipping post.
-
Rocky sucks. I see why they gave Lewerke every chance to prove he want THAT injured.

can the Sparty defense score?

Whoop whoop

Now you sound like a Florida fan the last 5 years.

Trojans score first.
LSU-A&M should be a competitive game and it's cool to see those uniforms on the same field.
-
easily the craziest season for the B1G since the Huskers joined
I agree!
Every team save maybe RU has at least a game or two thst look great and then a clunker or two where you just say WTF?
-
What in the holy hell?!?
TCU 7
OKST 3
Halftime
They are not Twelving!
-
Let me pile on to the trend of calling this the most unpredictable B1G season in some time. Not that the particpants in the CCG are surprising, but the week to week scores that I did not see coming. I'm not sure how I'd rank them.
1. 49-20
2. 52-51
3. 62-39
4. 41-10
5. 9-6
6. 37-15

I'm guessing Canada is gone. I'm fine with it, but it's funny, after the game in his interview, he seemed to have seen the writing on the wall.
He mentioned the officiating in the last 3 games where certain things were going against the team.
I think he realizes this team won't be allowed to be successful.
-
Wowwwww, idk if you all stopped watching football or whatever, but what A&M just did was amazing.
Down 7 with 30 seconds left, they throw a pick. Game over, Gatorade shower, etc.....but the QB knelt to get the low snap. Still A&M ball w/ a 10 sec runoff. Hit a long pass. Hit another long pass short of the first down, but the refs just give them the first down for some reason. Hit another pass, go to spike it, but the clock reads :00. Hold on, there was 1 second when the spike hit the ground. Boom, TD! Tie game.
Fun.
-
Yeah this ending is crazy. My i s c & a aggie wife was devastated, and now she's all riled up and into it again.
-
ND real close to punching their ticket
-
Odd that USU-Boise and BYU-Utah are on at the same time.
I normally wouldn't notice, but I happen to be in Utah this weekend, and there is quite a bit of flipping back and forth between those two big games going on.
-
"big" games
-
Seems like all the Brian Kelly hot seat burfle before the season was a tad premature.
-
"big" games
Yeah, one is a bitter throw out the records rivalry week game where the Pac South champion is down by three scores, and the other has a berth in the Mountain West CCG riding on it.
-
Not much more to add.
Except...
GO CATS!! Win one for Marcel!!!
I miss Marcel.
Northwestern is scrappy good. I think it will be a good game next week. Hope OSU can play inspired, focused football.

4th OT
good stuff
but not much SEC defense

Pretty wild sequences. Not to mention the rare 50yd fg in ot
-
4th OT
good stuff
but not much SEC defense
We all need to get over it. Football is going to give us these kinds of scores many more times than we see 14-10.
-
But it takes 5 OTs for SEC teams to start Twelving
-
that's my point
it's not just the Big 12
it's modern football
-
In the age of RPOs and on-the-fly routes, etc., A&M and LSU have gone back to 30s-style QB keeper to the corner football.
-
They should kick NFL length Xtra points in the first two OTs
-
Arkansas jealous. Missing out on a 7ot game.
-
I do hate this. It's a poor system.
I can feel MY calves cramping, watching these guys play all this time. Ugh.
-
It's funny to look at the ESPN Win Probability Chart - looks like College Station is having a 9.4 earthquake.....
-
Refs totally boned LSU there, probably because they want to leave
-
it's more entertaining than the NFL OT version, where ya end up tied
-
Aggies!!!
-
WV-OU
150 plays ~ 1300 yds
A&M-LSU
200 plays ~ 1000 yds
-
They should kick NFL length Xtra points in the first two OTs
I would like to see the drop kick be brought back. What do you think about mandatory drop kicks for extra points?
-
After the 17th overtime, just flip a coin for the winner.
-
it's more entertaining than the NFL OT version, where ya end up tied
NFLs OT which gives the receiving team an advantage, is wrong.
-
LOL @ the false start, FFS
-
4 hours after his Gatorade bath, Coach O is the losing coach.
-
it's more entertaining than the NFL OT version, where ya end up tied
Worse yet is the CFL version where it is the college model, but they call it a tie after 2 OTs unless it's the playoffs.
-

I didn't know that. I agree.
-
4th OT
good stuff
but not much SEC defense
I'll cut 'em some slack, this OT system is just brutal on defenses. But being tied 31-31 at the end of regulation still isn't much of a "defensive slug-fest."
As has been pointed out several times, this is just the trend in college football. The B12 might be leading the vanguard, but the averages for offensive statistics have been trending up for decades. The NCAA and leagues obviously like this, because they continue to make offene-friendly rules.
-
Anyway, that was an unbelieavable finish to the LSU-TAMU game. I had to wake my i s c & a aggie wife up a couple of times, she was almost as tired as the players. ;)
-
It is fun to see the Gophers win after all of the flack that they and their coach have gotten from Badger fans.
Not they. Just their coach. One game doesn't change anything. He's still a self-promoting egotistical maniac, and a clown. You think Badger fans are hard on the idiot, go read the twin city newspapers and talk to some realistic Gopher fans. They don't buy his shit either.
-

cut them slack if y'all want
scoring TDs on 6 of 7 OT possessions says there's not much defense
get two stops out of 7 and you win
-
OT's are set up for offense. It's silly. Start them out at mid-field and let them prove it. The way this is now, you really don't even need to gain any yards to get 3 points. It's screwed up. The defenses have little chance to succeed.
-
Yup
Like most everything else in the game, the rules favor the offenses.
-

Fleck still has a lot of hat, but unlike before he's actually got cattle this time. It may only be one game, but there was a lot of baggage attached to that game that got resolved. Including an 8 foot tall Axe that is staying in the Twin Cities for the first time since before I was of legal drinking age.
I think the Chryst administration is off to a smashing start.
-
yup, winning resolves almost everything
and winning rivalry games or the right games is golden
-
PC has to make some changes for sure, starting with taking over the play calling. Then he has to make his QB accountable - if he is playing like crap, you make the change like you would any other player on the field.
-

It's odd that he did that two years ago.
-
coaches these days don't seem to get the #2 QB ready to play and keep them ready
#1 guy takes the vast majority of the snaps in practice
therefore they stick with him even when things are blowing up
-
It's odd that he did that two years ago.
I know - and it was a quick hook. I think he "likes" Alex a little too much. Don't you feel the same?
-
I know - and it was a quick hook. I think he "likes" Alex a little too much. Don't you feel the same?
I assume there is something in how Alex approaches the game that he appreciates that I do not see. Granted, the backup two years ago was hit-and-miss, and the one the year was less than that.
I wrote this on another site, fans talk about "holding QBs accountable," but it's rare they're held accountable in that way. So maybe anger benchings of QBs are an inefficiency or there's something I'm missing.
In any case, interested about the battle next year. Could go a lot of ways.
-
I hope it's a true competition, and I hope it also includes the RSF (Wolf) and the true frosh (Mertz) coming in. Although, I can't recall. Is Mertz coming early, or is he waiting until June?
-
Something odd about putting up Christmas lights in 75 degree weather :)
-
move to NW Iowa
45 degrees is perfect
-
Nice to see ASU come back from their biggest 4th quarter deficit (19) since 1996, and for the first time since they've been in the Pac they now have the conference's leading regular season rusher.
-
This was a 5 yard penalty BTW. Early in the game, and could have given us a first down. One of the things Canada was talking about the last 3 games.

In the twitter feed, some are saying it's because a Maryland guy pushed him? I didn't see the play nor do I have any context, just parroting what was stated from your link.

Nothing odd about it at all. ;)

That definitely is roughing the punter and an official should get docked. There were plenty of crap calls in the M- tOSU contest who was Delaney trying to screw there?Even on a M board their fans were saying at least they were not getting jobbed. In a close game Buckeye fans could have a case against the officials. While IMO they do have to revise the way Ref review close calls but I don't think Delaney had it out for tOSU or the Grid Iron Juggernaut Terps. No reason with the technology the league's can't ask for better calls. How do the referee, umpire, head linesman, line judge, back judge, field judge and side judge all whiff on that? The Officials have to be conditioned to accept that sometimes they either used bad judgement or more often than not had a bad view/angle.It should be a lot better than it is
-
I saw on the news that the UGA game in Athens was colder than The Game in Columbus (Ohio).
That is a bit odd.
