Air could not have come out the balloon quicker following a lopsided loss of Nebraska, and 5 additional starters, including our only good skill position player.
Wisconsin 28, Michigan State 17

Wisconsin's offense will have trouble getting out of it's own way. Look for turnovers (primarily INTs) and penalties.
But Wisconsin's defense is pretty stout.
17-10, Wisconsin.

It's criminal that they have only played once since 2019, and just 4 times since the CCG in 2011.
That was the gauge under Dantonio, can we be Wisconsin. And we were. That felt like the barometer game every single year. I was at two of them, and both were classics. 208 in EL, and the first Big Ten Championship Game

2011 is the season that could have been for the Badgers. Well, that one and 2017. The Badgers were elite those years. A couple of bounces and they could have played for a national championship. Now we're hoping we can beat Minnesota because that would be "turning the corner."
-
bounces like not losing to Luke Fickell?

JJ Watt. Had he stayed for his senior year, those hail mary passes don't happen. Hard to throw when you're on your ass.
-
should have paid him more
-
JJ should pay Wisconsin for letting him walk-on as a TE and then developing him into an NFL HOF DE.
-
true, a couple extra million for next season's roster might help
-
Sure.
They could call the position the "Watt Foundation Weak Side Edge Rusher" or some such.
UW has a 5* edge committing tomorrow. Maybe that's the guy.
Of course, when he commits (to a non-helmet), he'll drop to a 4*.
Same as it ever was.
-
just grab a couple high school TEs w/o offers and have them walk-on
wait, that doesn't happen any longer
-
Pretty much have to pay walk-ons now.

Plus the best player on both sides of the ball

Who would that be?
-
Cam Edwards and Jordan Hall
-
Usually I’d sandbag here, but with this UW team, go do your damn job.
Also, the 2023 MSU loss is underrated for how much it stung.
-
Man, MSU is really banged up.

Offense has nothing

Also, it looks like Wisconsin's defense is pretty tough. I'm still not impressed by Joseph, but a nice, easy win, which has been rare for this team under this regime.

Want to trade QBs?
-
First, man MSU is a poor team.
Second, I hit a point where it was a nice game and the insurance TD was good, but I came away feeling it told me very little about the overarching narrative of the UW season. Like, you win a game, they moved the ball a bit better than I would've liked, but overall, that was fine. But on a good offensive day, everyone but the QB tops out at 3.2 yards per carry and the QB hits 45 percent of his passes. It just didn't feel so complete.
And I realized this is where my head is at. I've seen flawed Big Ten wins before, but because this current staff has been what it is, i can't help but take that and fixate on it as something that's gonna be a real problem in a real game. I was able to shrug off bad Alex Hornibrook games, ugly Joel Stave at times. But this staff just has me constantly focused on the things they don't do well.

MSU was a 4/5 win team healthy. That said, Wisconsin's defense was suffocating. Offense probably has some work to do

I was irked by every drive getting a first down and a bunch getting 35-plus.
But I think that was accentuated by the Fitz offense that does so much "run up the middle for 3-4 and the defense seems like it's gonna hold a little better and then doesn't."
-
I mean if the entire back seven wasnt out, it might work. But the lack of playing to what you have is frightening

Shaping up to be Luke's best season at the P5 level.
-
Shut your 3rd base pie hole.
-
IMHO FITZ was a very solid hire, that's trying to piece back together a once stout program. The Roster was thin to begin with after the last 2 toxic HC hires. And the "availabilities" as Badge pointed out is raging. Fitz has a deep climb back up & out of the hole dug for him. One good recruiting cycle and portal pick ups can get things squared away in short order hopefully. The conference is always better when MSU/UW/Iowa maybe even the Goophs/UNL get there

At this point, it had better be.
