I cut the cord a LONG time ago. Back then I was single and figured that the once or twice a month that Ohio State was on ESPN/BTN I'd just go to a bar to watch and the drinks were cheaper than the cable bill so I saved money and got drinks, win-win.
The problem is that now I have four little kids. I can't just bail at 12:30 tomorrow and tell the wife that I'll be back from the bar in four hours so . . .
I've been seeing a lot of ads for Sling Day Pass. It actually sounds like a pretty good deal: $4.99 for 24 hours and it includes most of what I'd want but it does NOT include BTN and the Buckeyes are on BTN tomorrow so . . .
Any suggestions for a cheap way to get BTN for 4 hours tomorrow? I mean, it is Ball State and the Buckeyes are favored by 50+ so I'm not THAT concerned about it. I liked the DayPass idea because I could use it to watch other games and shows throughout the day. Bottom line, I'm not paying much over $5 for this but if I can get the game for $5 I'll do it.

I think I get BTN on my youtubeTV. You could buy it just for football season and then kill it if you like.
For me, it's probably cheaper per month than going to the bar twice in a month to watch a game. Especially if I have to take the i s c & a aggie wife. She drinks the fancy stuff.

I actually might look at that for BB season. Ohio State Football isn't on BTN very often and I have other stuff I have to do tomorrow anyway (Celebration of Life for a classmate). Ohio State might not be on BTN again all season long so I might not need this again until BB which brings me to . . .
Ohio State plays a decent number of BB games on BTN. Back when I was single and even when I was married but childless I could swing by a bar and watch a game now and then for cheaper than paying for Cable. Now I really can't but if I had BTN available on TV at home I would watch so yeah, I might look into YouTubeTV for BB season.
If you get YouTube TV does that also mean you get the regular YouTube content with less or no ads? I watch a LOT of YouTube.

Going to a bar just one time costs me more than Peacock does for the entire FB and BB seasons. I'll guy it today and cancel in March.
Paramount is free with my Badger247 membership. Our TV content is "free" through our HOA.

I don't think so, I think they're independent. Could be wrong though, I don't watch a lot of plain ol' YouTube. Pretty much only when I'm looking up instructions on how to rebuild a carburetor or something...

I discovered once I had kids it become much harder to just cancel my cable TV, home internet or streaming services for a month or 2. I could easily go without any of these for a month when I lived alone.
My advice is whatever you choose, assume it will be locked in for years because its too disruptive to the whole house when you cancel something.

For our household that's been mostly true for the standalone streaming serviceslike Disney+, Prime, and Netflix.
But kids don't really watch what we'd call "Cable TV." So they don't ever bother with YouTubeTV. They watch specific movies or shows available on the streaming platforms, but they don't watch network TV or sports or HGTV or History Channel or any of that, so they don't ever channel surf in the way our generation does. They get all of that "surfing" content online through YouTube, TikTok, and Insta.
So basically, I'm pretty much the only one that watches YouTubeTV, and nobody would ever notice if I canceled it and then restarted it 6 months later.

Same thing for me. I'm going to cancel Sling at the end of this pay period and switch to YouTubeTV (sports package), and I'm pretty sure no one will notice. If I were to cancel Netflix, that would get some attention.

No, it's separate. It's about $15 a month for Youtube Premium (youtube with no ads). I have that, and it's worth it.
Also, for everyone, MANY games are "illegally" on regular youtube, especially mid-lower teams. Several are just guys narrating the action with stats and stuff, but the actual, official games are often on. Sometimes the stream will be cut off, since it's illegal. But most times, it just plays the normal telecast all the way through.
So if you don't mind that maybe okay/maybe not part, it's an option.
