(4) Purple Rain vs. (13) The Naked Gun
(4) Purple Rain (1984)
Prince, the motorcycle, the fashion, the Minneapolis sound, the performances, and one of the decade’s defining albums make Purple Rain inseparable from 1980s music and culture. Even people who have never watched the entire film recognize its songs, imagery, clothing, and star. Few entries represent the MTV side of the decade more completely.
(13) The Naked Gun (1988)
Rapid-fire jokes, visual gags, absurd dialogue, and Leslie Nielsen’s perfectly serious performance made The Naked Gun one of the decade’s most durable comedies. Its scenes and lines are still quoted, and its influence can be seen in countless parody movies that followed.

How is Naked Gun winning this? It's by far the superior movie, but more distinctly 80's? Nah.
Convince me otherwise.

I love Naked Gun.
Purple Rain is way more 80s.

I finally voted.
I saw both movies

This result baffles me. The Juice as a good guy doesn't make this more 80s than Purple Rain, which could only have happened in the 80s. This is one of several where I would much rather watch the Naked Gun than Purple Rain, but slapstick humor wasn't unique to the 1980s.

Yup. We got some folks who don't know the 80s, apparently.
Anyway I'm gonna lock this one and unpin it. It is fin.
