The stretch from Columbus to Cincinnati is the worst. You have a sewage plant, a jail, a sign that says that you are going to Hell, and a Klan barn.

Cincy is in Amsterdam now. I wouldn't plan on hearing from him @medinabuckeye1 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1547) for a bit.

I saw the going to hell sign, didn't notice the rest

you should have smelled the sewage plant just before Grove City, and the jail is near there too.

The Klan barn is only visible when driving north. It's near the Lebanon exit. The entire roof is painted like a Confederate flag, and there are wooden crosses erected near the freeway fence. No idea if it's still there, but probably.

Makes me think of the double billboard on I-65N heading from Alabama into Tennessee.  Top one is a Bible verse, something along the lines of "righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."  Bottom one is an ad for Big Jim's Boobie Bungalow, exit now.

Every jail should go next to one

Well I'd think of exiting if it said Jim's Big Boobie Bungalow instead

First it is not a sewage plant.  It is a rendering plant and I believe it is now closed down. Also both the jail and the plant are after grove city.

Read the topic and honestly thought someone had a question about the 1800s and wanted an eyewitness account....

My kids liked that aquarium quite a bit.   Of course you have to go to Kentucky to visit it

If you travel to Newport from Indiana on I-74, you cross IN to Ohio border then get on beltline towards CVG, you then re-enter Indiana and then cross into Kentucky.    Rivers make for some fascinating border and road scenarios.

I think my favorite is actually a Lake with the Angel Inlet, MN.  You need to enter Canada if you are to reach it by land from Minnesota

the Big Sioux River dumps into the Missouri River here - South Dakota, Iowa, & Nebraska

the Loess Hills are a big deal to some - East of the Missouri River valley

It doesn't need to nick Indiana. There's only one exit, in the middle of nowhere. I think they did it just to do it.

I would guess it was budgetary/political. Nicking Indiana means another State served and another Congressional District.

The terrain, grade and water table is quite complicated around that area along the Ohio River.  Routing had to have been dictated by that.  Nobody's getting their beak wet having a tiny segment of a never to see developed area of a beltline run.

Lot of oxbow lakes in that area too.
If anything the town in Ohio  Cleves, likely fought having I 275 run through it.   I guarantee it was a controversial expansion,  im told it was finished in the late 1979s.

Just looked that up on Google maps.  Kinda weird.

Of course, I never understood why that northwest chunk of Michigan is Michigan at all, and not Wisconsin.

Gol'durned Yankees.  Gol'durned Canucks.  Make your borders make more sense.

Looks like the Great Miami River gets pretty wide near it's junction with the Ohio, so veering downstream from that means they only need to build one big ass bridge through there instead of two.

When COVID hit, I read about a golf course in WA that nobody could play. Because it's below the 49th, it's US territory, but it's on a peninsula only accessible by land from Canada.

Since borders were closed, the course was inaccessible to pretty much everyone.

Tell that to the SEC teams during CFB recruiting season

It has another sign next to it with the ten commandments.

Sorry to have missed this, my answer would have been "not much", maybe visit Mount Adams?  Some stuff there.  I never heard of the Lego place.

I think we were off in Holland ...  I can't logon in Europe now.
