Why not start with the craziest season ever, pre current-nonsense?
For the Gators here, easy 1st round win. I think 55 TD Tebow & Harvin just out-talent KU's Cinderella team. Our pass D sucked, so we'd have a chance vs West Virginia with Pat White running the ball. But without a sturdy defense, that's about as far as they could go.

This playoff would have been chaos. No guarantees that Mizzou and WV make it to the semifinals.
I would guess the 2 semis would be
4 LSU vs 8 USC
10 Florida. Vs 3 Ohio St
NCG
LSU over Florida

You know , this proposed 24-team CFP format is pretty easy to figure out going back in time. You dont have to worry about who won their conference or who would be the conference champion with today's alignment.
You just have to find the top 24 from BCS rankings from the week before the CCG"s. And I guess verify you have at least 1 G5 equivalent team ranked in the top 24.

Nebraska would obviously have a couple more crystal footballs if ya went back to the 70s, 80s, & 90s

ND would have fewer and OU would have even more.

The Wolverines would be loaded if you went back to the 19-ots.

sorry M men, no AP Poll
and thankfully only a 10-team playoff the seasons the AP only ranked the top 10

Oh, well then yeah. They're screwed.
