ASU QB Sam Leavitt is in the portal. That's pretty big.
Also, 37 year old QB Max Johnson, who I know from LSU, is in the portal from UNC. Brad Johnson's lefty kid. I think he's passed Syracuse LB Conley and Miami K Huerta as longest college career in my brain.
-
Seems like Andre Debose goes on that list. Felt like he was at UF for an entire decade.
-
Maybe we should try to snag Leavitt. Worked out pretty well for us the last time we got a QB from ASU.
Well, the QB worked out. The defense just worked out of the program's bowels and shat itself into a toilet.

You can correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m not sure that the Johnson kid actually has another year?
One of the weird parts of the portal as you can put your name in while you are still chasing a Hail Mary waiver. You might get it because of that knee injury, but I don’t think he has an exceptional case.
I know the basketball portal last year was super bloated with kids who were hoping that some random lawsuit could get them a magical fifth year.

Florida QB DJ Lagway to the porthole. 5* and #1 QB in the 2024 class.

Miami Hurricanes???

Indiana.

Indiana has the Hypesman winner's little brother
-
If they can get Lagway, they will. They win. Google it.
-
well, it's not gonna be Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio St, Michigan, or Northwestern
-
UW's OC was a finalist to land him while he was at Baylor. There's a tiny chance. Gotta kick the tires.

Michigan State Spartans quarterback Aidan Chiles plans to enter the Transfer Portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. This will be his second time transferring as he makes this move with one year of eligibility left.
Coming out of high school, Chiles was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023. There, he was the 160th-ranked player overall and the 12th-ranked quarterback overall. Chiles is a native of Downey, California.

Well, he did prove highly capable of throwing the ball to LSU players recently.

who would want him at this point?

who would want him at this point?
Michigan in 2024!
(The actual answer is someone. Unless he just really truly sucks. Like, you have 60 power four starting quarterback spots, and it can get real lean at the bottom)

DJ wanted to stay...new coach didn't want him I guess...

Texas Tech.

don't blame him
also, don't think he was as great as advertised as a recruit

hard to be great when a fucking bum like Matt Rhule is your coach though to be fair.
had the kid just gone to Ohio State like the original plan was and gotten coached by Ryan Day in that system with those WR's....stud.

he's the best QB in the porthole imo

sounds like Tech may have already gotten Sorsby from Cincy.
The Mahomes wannabe is likely headed elsewhere.

We're honestly not that far from just having the schools having an annual fantasy draft - a clean slate every year. The NCAA Redraft League of a Large Playoff. NCAARLLP
Lagway loves the Gators, but the kid throws way too many INTs. He was probably told Sumrall is bringing in a QB.

I thought so as well, I posted that it appeared he had earned himself a bigger paycheck because of it. But then Tech lost to...Sam Leavett and ASU with him at the helm.

of course, but after Raiola suffered a season-ending broken fibula in the game against USC the remainder of the season will haunt him. Including the ending of the USC game where the Huskers were leading 14-6 when he was injured.
Huskers only gave up 1 sack in that game but, it was costly

i'd take him. our qb sitch is a disaster.

Sorry but this dude is beyond odd. To copy everything Mahomes is doing down to Mahomes pregame routine and then publicly saying I'm trying to be my own guy is really.... ODD. I think a lot of kids grow up and have an idol and want to "be like Mike" per se, but to take it to this level is a little mentally unhealthy in my book.
-
Agree.
-
what is the story on why he is leaving?
not sure, hasn't been talked about from him or his family or the coaches
most guess that his uncle Donny being fired is the biggest part of the reason (I'm not so sure but can't say it's false)
my guess is that he thought the team would be better this season and he would have been more successful on the field.
I think he's looking for a better team (Oline, WRs, defense), guaranteed starting spot, (freshman backup TJ Lateef played pretty well) and of course, more $$$. (situation)

most Husker fans and others close to the program, myself included don't feel this way at all.
Rhule and Dylan have addressed this. Rhule says the media is lazy and makes this connection. (not local media)
Mahomes didn't come up hardly at all this entire season with the local media or with Dylan.
There are plenty of fans that root for the Huskers & Chiefs that like this stuff.
ya'll are certainly entitled to your opinion
(but, yer wrong)

the fan boys that cover the squad weren't critical of qb1? very strange.
idk if i'd call it mentally unhealthy w/o knowing more but it's most definitely weird.

That's great that Rhule says that and everyone can claim it didn't come up, but the actions also showed different. Finding it weird is weird? If there was QB at Florida, that oddly looked like, had the same hair style, same sunglasses and the same exact warmup as Baker Mayfield, which included the same arm motions, jumping motions, you wouldn't find that a little odd?
Come on.. maybe mentally unhealthy is a little too far, but it's flat out weird or obsessive.
-

no, because they are there every day and they know it's not a big deal
Dylan didn't make a big deal of it, some fans did, and the national press certainly made it a story
I'm guessing you and most other fans, not Husker fans, don't follow the local media
It really hasn't been much of a story at all this season, mostly just his freshman season
-

Dylan said that he had the hairstyle before Mahomes. Yes, the same style sunglasses. yes, Dylan did a few warm up things that Mahomes does. Not for most or every many games. Probably at the urging of others.
yes, Dylan Raiola trains with Jeff Christensen, Patrick Mahomes' private quarterback coach, and also works with Mahomes' strength coach, Bobby Stroupe, This connection has been highlighted in the media
I suppose that's weird.
-

I’m honestly not passionate about this topic, but let’s get this straight. Dylan had that hairstyle before Mahomes? Mahomes has this hairstyle at Texas tech.. so Dylan started doing it when he was 9? He’s doing the warm up things by the urging of others? So it’s not him it’s the pressure of others?
This dude talks about it. He talked about how Kobe modeled himself after Jordan, but he wears the same socks, hair, sunglasses, number, walks out the tunnel and jumps and does the same arm motion.
This is his exact quote.. this year..
“I can't control God made me look like this and play the same sports."
-
not passionate about this topic either
it's not a topic or story in Nebraska (except for some Chiefs fans that enjoy it)
-
That’s fair. I simply can’t talk about Michigan coaching search or Sherrone any more. So little Mahomes became my sidebar.
-
Michigan back-up QB Jadyn Davis hitting the porthole. makes sense. kind of crazy to me that a kid ranked as a 4* and top 100 player in the nation couldn't even see the field for Michigan in 2024- even after he enrolled early- with the absolute shitshow Michigan had going on at QB. after that knew he was never going to play a down at Michigan- and it probably told you the kid just didn't have the goods and was overrated as a HS recruit.
doubt he does anything anywhere else, kid has the most fucked up funky throwing motion/arm action and throws the ugliest football this side of Tim Tebow.

I've liked Dylan Raiola. I really thought he was going to be a major difference-maker at Nebraska, and perhaps he could be with a better supporting cast or better coaching or whatever?
Anyway, regarding how he seems to be a Mahomey-cloney...

he will be good if he lands in the right spot. very talented arm, big strong kid.
Nebraska unfortunately for Raiola has an absolute dipshit clown dog shit head coach and no offensive line whatsoever. tough spot for a QB to be in. he'll probably go to Oregon light it up for a year and then be a 1st round pick.
-
i liked rhule at baylor & thought he was a great hire for nebraska. if he fails up there add him to the massive pile of ****ty coaches i've ridden for led by charlie weiss & his schematic tactical advantage.

Hell, I even rooted for Jeff Sims after he left Nebraska
-
as for raiola fornelli fell all over himself dunking on him in a podcast i listened to earlier this yr.
i haven't watched him enough to form an opinion but we've seen dudes do well after transferring who previously struggled (dillon gabriel) & others not so much (miller moss) so we'll see.

QBs that go to tOSU probably have a better success rate than average
of Course, Joe Burrow did ok
-
QBs that go to tOSU probably have a better success rate than average
That's like saying students who go to Harvard have a better success rate than average. It's because they only admit the top of the top. The deck is stacked compared to Nowheresville Community College students before the game is played.
OSU football only lets you in the front door if they already think you're elite, so it should be no surprise that the success rates are better than average.

Should be a lot of interest in Jace Brown, K-State's #1 WR.
He's roomies with our QB1, so will be interesting to see if he goes with. I'm like, whatever, bruh--one year left, go get a bigger bag than we have been providing.
