need to blast Fuckface Twinkletoes Wink into the sun and go find a young up and comer from the McDonald/Minter coaching tree.
wish list #1 in the porthole: Sparty WR Nick Marsh. Dreaming of a Marsh & Marsh duo in 2026....

Devin Gardner and Jake Butt both seem to be out on Sharon...

Right here they nail it IMHO,no nonsense shyt talking,i.e. Portnoy,Joel,Rich Eisen, very dialed in. Even M*s D wasn't too bad left on the field much of the game.Probably help if I left a link.Devin and Jake are my new go to on everything M*

honey moon is officially over. 2025 and 2026 classes were highly rated. time to spend in the porthole on WR's. 9-3 in first real year with high priced true frosh QB isn't terrible, but also isn't good enough.
2026 is Sharon's make or break year. need to see real growth & development from the QB and 10-2 and in the playoff or he's done. anything less is unacceptable imo.
-
I was starting to wonder if you were ok. Barely any posts during recruiting and signing season. It felt a little empty here without your feedback Mdot

Why doesn't Gardner have a bigger platform? He talks circles around Butt, who is head and shoulders above Howard, Eisen, Portney, etc.

cause being a doosher gets clicks and views. Portnoy knew this day one and set up to be the biggest doosher ever and now he's huge. Howard just has CTE + learning disabilities.

Gardner has actually worked his way up, unlike most former players, and it shows

seems like a good dude and class act. his playing career probably would've been much different had he not played for RichRod & Brady Hoke. was a very talented player stuck on some bad teams with some bad coaching.

Two places Devin should land either in a booth on national broadcasts or on the sideline.Hopefully elsewhere if warde doesn't open his eyes :098:

Not sure I understand this hire. Hasn’t he primarily been a db coach?

Yes, though he was special teams at Cincinnati the past couple years.

Outstanding DB coach - at least then, big problems stepping up to DC position though.Almost exactly like EdWarriner was in C-Bus crazy good OL coach ruh-roh as the OC.Matter of fact I would hunt him down if I was tOSU and offer him the O-Line gig again

some guys are great at just being position coaches. not everyone is cut out to be a co-ordinator. just like some guys are great at just being co-ordinators. not everyone is cut out to be a HC.
wish more coaches were self-aware and just stayed in their lane. i get it though- they all want to move up the ladder make more $$$$$.

Moore fired?

Crazy.. very unexpected.
There's a large part of me that is really hoping they have John Harbaugh lined up.. for comical and middle finger to the NCAA sake.. not dismissing Jim.. but the NCAA and how they have handled so many things needs a middle finger.

This feels not out of bounds, but interesting.

OK.. wow.. now that's angering.. dude.. focus on football. I thought UM was going to find a way to use the previous events as a good excuse for cause, but this is actually a problem. Not exactly an ideal year or time for it either. Nice work Sherrone.

He's been unreliable for a long while now. Nothing from him is trustworthy and my opinion paid by UM to say certain things.
I have a good friend who is engaged to an assistant coach on another big 10 program. From what she just shared with me, the details are pretty disgusting and I'm glad he's was fired. She said she's known about it for a little over a week and didn't want to tell me as she wasn't sure it was correct but her fiance said their staff got it from a pretty reliable source.
-
Same.
Problem was it was amplified by an OSU fan account who has no credibility, between that and bothing new for a couple weeks, I thought maybe it was untrue
-
With Michigan firing Sherrone Moore, it seems that Pete Golding is the top target to replace him.
-
He's married too, so it's yet another cheating scandal for the Wolverines.

You really need to slow your roll on you OSU hate 847. They have nothing to do with your programs current challenges.

Maybe Moore thought M* would have his back like they did Booger's before he bolted. Serious question how damn dumb do these guys have to be? I mean after Mel Tugger,Jerry Sandusky,Petrino and coeds,Mike Price at Bama, even the recent scandal along with a slew of others. Where else do these cabbage heads think they can scrape together that kind of scratch?

Now he has apparently been arrested??

WoW well at least Mdot/SM get their wish,if I'm M* I'd grab someone decent as a interim head coach then take the next 12 months piecing the puzzle together. Wonder if Hartline wishes he'd waited a week but he likes FLA and maybe coming back to C-Bus. but stranger things have happened. M8 would be crazy not to look at Devin Gardner in some capacity - he's got the goods IMHO
-
WTF?
Former Michigan coach Sherrone Moore has been detained. Statement from city manager in Saline, MI:
"The City of Saline Police Department assisted in locating and detaining former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore. Mr. Moore was turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for investigation into potential charges."
Reporting with Dan Wetzel.

Hate used to be reserved for Minnie and I.O.W.A. but I'm too old for hate anymore. Not that I have to respect. :96:

HA! saw this poke at the Detroit media on the Spartan Board
Mel Tucker fired: “Michigan State has a culture problem.”
Sherrone Moore fired: “Credit to Michigan for doing the right thing.”

Now reported Sherrone Moore has retained the services of an experienced area attorney. Not a lot of info about her, but she is the one on the right:

Apparently the entire team was notified on a zoom call.

Dave Portnoy abruptly cancelled one of those pizza shop reviews that he does. Left on his private jet which is currently being tracked flying in the direction of Tuscaloosa.
-
There's only 2 groups who we should feel bad for tonight, Moore's wife and Moore's kids.
-
Hours after being dismissed as the head football coach at Michigan, things went from bad to worse for Sherrone Moore.
According to a report from ESPN’s Dan Wetzel, Moore was detained by police in Saline, Michigan, on Wednesday night and turned over to authorities in Pittsfield Township relating to an investigation into potential charges. It’s not immediately clear what led to Moore’s arrest.
-
University of Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel was awarded the 2024 National Football Foundation's John L. Toner Award, which recognizes top athletic directors for superior administration, essentially an "AD of the Year" honor, and was honored in December 2024.
And he's been there since 2016.Now has overseen at least 2 scandals and 5 coaches fired and one facing Federal prosecution :017:
My guess is he shouldn't be shopping for fresh produce

Not so sure the recruiting timing claim holds water since committed recruits are allowed to re-open their recruiting if the coach is fired.

I hope he gets help and has his head closely examined. Haven't heard that he assaulted anyone.

Coaches I've heard as potential replacements for Moore:
Kalen DeBoer
Jesse Minter
Jedd Fisch
Jason Eck
There are more many names being thrown around which my brain is unwilling to contemplate. For example, Brian Kelly. God no, no, no!
-
Hands off on Eck, dammit. Go get a Michigan Man.

I have to think Jedd Fisch is the first call

1 year show cause that is up sometime this month.

I think PR wise, they have to get someone who wasnt there with Harbaugh at this point.
DeBoer and Eck should be the first two calls.
Minter will probably have NFL options anyway

It looks like Moore is about to be confined to the real Big House.

He'd be the perfect prick ;D.not sure he'd want to surrender that buyout though so as he can sit around and kiss his own picture and his account statements. Michigan would be MUCH better off hiring an interim HC and take a hit on next season than hit the panic button and regret it moving forward
So buy all means back up the truck and over pay some schmuck

I'm rooting for this for the sheer chaos. If cfb is dead, then at least let me watch it all burn.

I think Kelly really wants to win an NC. As much as he likes the money, he wants in that NC club more.
Not sure anyone will give him a shot now, though, and I sure as shootin' don't see why Michigan should. Under normal circumstances, they should be able to attract a top coach. Kelly, imo, just proved over 3.5 yrs in BR that he is exactly the coach I always suspected he was at Notre Dame.
-

If he beats OSU and makes the playoffs, this stays buried. He didn't, so they pulled the trigger after signing day instead of after the OSU game.

Her salary was posted on a Michigan board.
Went from $55K two years in a row to $90K the next year.
Red flag.
I'm guessing she will also be fired? Or did she feel pressured?
Still much more ugliness to come on this.

She will probably also be fired, even if she felt pressured. Unless she can sue, and then they probably give her money to go away.
it also sounds like this behavior was a running habit with him, so… Not sure what to do with that.
-

Pretty much how I feel today. This Sherrone was supposed to be leader of men and an example and not only his consistent actions, but more glaring is that his reaction is a frightening sign that a group of people chose him to lead young men.
I've always been a Michigan fan, but i've quietly rooted for Notre Dame since Marcus Freeman was put in his role. That's the kind of man I want to see leading young men. Probably my flaw in hoping for an idealistic society when in reality it's normally run by dirtbags.
The saddest part is Warde Manuel is going to be the ultimate scapegoat. He's certainly part of the problem, but everything in me tells me it's the people pulling the strings behind the scenes that are the actual problem.

I mean, you and I think that. Normal CFB programs think that. Do they?
-
Haven't heard that he assaulted anyone.
This is, IMHO, an important question. The initial reports seemed to indicate that he was arrested pending charges and it was at least suggested that he had assaulted someone (his wife?, the staffer?). Some reports seemed to suggest that he broke into the staffer's house. So it was looking like assault and B&E but now it is looking more like protective custody which is a very different situation.
If he assaulted someone or multiple people then I don't feel bad for HIM but for them and I feel like he is fair game but if he is in protective custody based on threatening suicide then I feel bad for him and hope he gets the help he needs.
-
She will probably also be fired, even if she felt pressured. Unless she can sue, and then they probably give her money to go away.
I'm not an expert on Sexual Harassment Law but I have some knowledge from a few cases against the entity I work for. I would imagine that they will put her on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Since he was the HFC and she was obviously nowhere near on that level, there is going to be a pretty easy case to make here that he (boss) pressured her (subordinate) and the institution obviously has deep pockets so lawyers will be lining up to try to get a piece of that action.
it also sounds like this behavior was a running habit with him, so… Not sure what to do with that.
If the behavior was a pattern that the institution knew or should have known about then Michigan had better be prepared to write a substantial check because that is a big problem when defending a Sexual Harassment suit. If the employer had no knowledge and a reasonable person in the situation of the employer wouldn't have known then they are in decent shape but if this was a situation where everybody knew about it and nobody acted, big check.
-
it also sounds like this behavior was a running habit with him, so… Not sure what to do with that.
Pure made up BS. Easy to spot since no one knows much of anything at this point.
-
I think there's also an interesting and disgusting part of the story I'm not seeing many touch on yet. The official police report was released and time stamped at 4:10. The story broke when posted on X by Wetzel, Thamel and Schefter all posting at 4:37pm. Was Michigan's response was reactionary to the police report? Did Sherrone react this way due to the termination or was the termination a response to the event where it's an "oh shit" moment we can't cover it up any more. If it's any part of the latter, every single decision maker in the the athletic program needs to be fired immediately. All of them.

You well know that I have zero respect for the University of Michigan as an institution but even I don't think it was the latter.
It is MUCH more likely that the firing precipitated the Sherrone going off the rails (either B&E and assault or threatening suicide or both). My guess is that the University notified Sherrone sometime yesterday afternoon with the intention to go public at some point after that and Sherrone going off the rails simply forced them to go public sooner than they had planned. If you take Sherrone going nuts out of the equation my guess is that there would have been a bunch of rumors yesterday evening and then a formal UM Press Conference sometime today.

We don't know that and that's the story that will be spun from here either way. There's liklely only a few people that will actually know the truth unless there's anything in writing or text that would actually come out.
Either way, there's a lot coming out that this has been on the radar for a while.. their potential relationship. The pay increase is a ridiculous red flag and should piss a lot of people off. The older we get, the more i'm disgusted by so many of these events and weird higher up circles at these universities. There seems to be an overall theme.. protect scumbags if they help you accomplish things.

i figured his meltdown was in response to getting wacked, things falling apart with the mistress, & the prospect of losing his family - maybe even a narcisstic stunt as opposed to being actually suicidal but i'm pretty cynical.
as for the timing it's possible but surely um isn't that far gone. it is the most insufferable school in history but still.

Someone (again, who knows whats real), said that there was an all coaches meeting, without Moore, yesterday afternoon, to inform them that they were firing him.
That one of the assistants then texted him, which is how he found out, but UM hadn't talked to him yet, and that's what caused his reaction.
Then Michigan had to scramble to get ahead of it

Appreciate the insight. I will say, as someone who has had to be a part of some difficult terminations over the years, the assistant coach that texted him should be terminated too, especially if asked to not share the information. I know the old feeling of "being a good friend," but it so often creates giant messes when events like this are not in controlled situations. It's honestly helpful for all parties, including the one being terminated as it is better in a controlled environment.
-
I'm all for schadenfreude, and I have no love for the Michigan program, but this situation sounds really bad for the people involved. Yes, mostly the wife and kids, but even Moore is still a human with human frailties. As for the younger woman involved, most of us don't know a thing about the details, and I'd be real hesitant to blame her.

Agree 100%. I've been forced to enact terminations as well, and it's much better when it's planned and controlled.
It's actually the main reason I bowed out of the "people manager" business. I just couldn't take it.

Agree with both of you. It is the most unsettling part of my job and I agree with @SuperMario (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1596) 's point, I'd be FURIOUS if someone leaked to the employee that we were about to terminate them.
-
I agree as well, but there’s a bigger point here.
why in the hell would you assemble a group of people and tell them their boss was being terminated before you actually told the person being terminated. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in organizational management.
at the very least, it should have been done simultaneously. there’s nothing more disrespectful and unprofessional than telling the people that work for a person that that person is being terminated before you actually tell the person
-
ya ALWAYS terminate the person FIRST, then let other employees know

I mean, it seems like his dalliances were considered something of an open secret. Shoot, he couldn’t even keep his socials looking clean.
-
Sounds like Michigan AD Warde Manuel's future is uncertain. Michigan has brought in a DC legal firm to investigate the athletic department. I'm neutral on him. AD Warde has made some great hires but didn't like how he handled the Harbaugh situation.
-
He's GONE

I agree as well, but there’s a bigger point here.

Lol.. Oh I agree. I've seen it done the way Michigan did it as well. The employee being terminated should always be told first, but I was a part of a situation where the rest of the group were informed first because of the circumstances and the employee being terminated was not available for a period of time. Don't want to give more details, but shockingly there are times it has to be done backwards and it's NEVER ideal or desired to be done that way.. unless people in Ann Arbor are really that stupid and I can't count that out at this point.
-
Well I guess MDot is getting his wish...
wanted him gone because he's a shit coach, not because of this. really sad and unfortunate.
pussy remains undefeated as the downfall of man.
-
Someone (again, who knows whats real), said that there was an all coaches meeting, without Moore, yesterday afternoon, to inform them that they were firing him.
That one of the assistants then texted him, which is how he found out, but UM hadn't talked to him yet, and that's what caused his reaction.
Then Michigan had to scramble to get ahead of it
Poor HR work there. You go from the firing meeting to the coaching meeting. Unless the previous meetings with Moore made it somewhat clear what was coming.

Sherrone Moron was no doubt already doing plenty of that - from the New York Post (https://nypost.com/2025/12/11/sports/fired-michigan-coach-sherrone-moore-slid-into-my-dms-curvy-onlyfans-model-says/):
"An OnlyFans model said fired Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore “slid into” her messages, as it was revealed Thursday he follows dozens of other OnlyFans and Instagram models — and once attended a party thrown by Sean “Diddy” Combs."
Mind you Sherrone Moron followed these "suitors" on his social media accounts that he kept public!

I don't think it's official, but needs to happen. Then fire all his bosses.
Beg John Beilein to come run things for a year and instill some freaking integrity back into the place while they search for a full time replacement.

Warde Manuel fired?
Michigan might’ve seriously lucked out for all this to happen if it means getting rid of a shit AD and a shit head coach that were never going to lose their jobs otherwise.
would’ve just limped on to mediocrity and incompetence forever with Warde as AD and Sharon as head coach.
-
He made it easy to be a Michigan basketball fan. Loved everything about the guy. As a Cavs fan, I hated that he took the Cavs job.. I knew it would be a dumpster fire. He's too good of a man to deal with the mess it was.
If anyone with decision making ability at UM learns anything from this, it's you better not miss on putting high character people in place right now or burn it all to the ground.
-
Still lives in Ann Arbor too.
I thought if there wasn't a HR basketball hire you could maybe get him to come back and coach for a year, but AD is a different deal, and Michigan got their HR basketball hire. It's not 1985 anymore, and I don't think the skills translate. I also don't think you want him hiring the next football coach

For the record, I stated Beilein prior to Portnoy. I don’t ever get ideas from him. I just have an appeal for men of high character. If Marcus Freeman was remotely a possibility for Michigan, I would be very happy.

WTF, arrested?
That isn't just "inappropriate relationship with a staff member".
A "news" agency has a police scanner recording that suggests he was at the apartment of the rumored woman he had the relationship with (his secretary), and he had a knife, was suicidal per his wife, and could be found in The Well Church. I am not clear on where he was arrested.

What? I don't know, maybe everyone should give a rats ass about getting a good leader of men in place. How Manuel has handled everything the last 4-5 years is disgusting. This topic has been buzzing apparently for a while. Manuel knew going into the termination he had mental issues possibly and that's how Manuel handled the situation? And don't tell me that's an out there statement considering how Sherrone actually reacted..If the reagents are part of the problem then burn the whole thing down.. seriously.. it's embarrassing at this point.

A total of seven staffers under Jim Harbaugh at the University of Michigan have been arrested since he was hired in 2015.
The individuals arrested were:
- Sherrone Moore: Arrested in December 2025 in connection to an alleged assault, hours after being fired for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
- Denard Robinson: Arrested for DUI (Driving Under the Influence). He also received a three-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA for his role in an unrelated sign-stealing scandal.
- Steve Clinkscale: Arrested for DUI.
- Matt Weiss: Fired and later indicted on 14 counts of unauthorized access to computers and 10 counts of aggravated identity theft for hacking into the accounts of thousands of college athletes to find intimate images. He pleaded not guilty.
- Greg Scruggs: Arrested for DUI.
- Fergus Connolly: Arrested for DUI, punching police officers, and biting.
- Jim Minick: Arrested for DUI.
-
Now do all the arrests of people under Urban Meyer and let me know when OSU stops celebrating him.

I was listening to Cleveland sports radio, and an M* Fan called in and they discussed all of what could be the problem. It is if those responsible for Manual's employment maybe knew about some of inapropriate conduct or measures taken to win games and looked the other way. IF that is the case Manual has them over a barrel is prepared to take everyone down with him.And at that point one couldn't blame him as they're guilty by omission for failing to act when there was a legal or moral duty to do so

I get it and generally agree. Five of the seven listed by @Brutus Buckeye (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=31) were DUI. I'm not arguing in favor of drunk driving but I also don't think that @Brutus Buckeye (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=31) , @SuperMario (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1596) , or @medinabuckeye1 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1547) getting a DUI would reflect badly on our employers*. People make dumb decisions and if you employ enough people you absolutely WILL end up with one getting a DUI.
Conduct WITHIN the context of employment is different.
*I put the asterisk because I would see it as a poor reflection on the employer if it got REALLY bad. Ie, if @SuperMario (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1596) has 12 employees and 10 of them have DUIs in the last two years, that would look bad to the employer.

I actually agree with this. I think Manuel not getting fired is an even bigger red flag. A vast majority of the population thinks it's a no brainer to fire him, considering all of the circumstances. People that don't get fired that should be fired have one thing in common.... leverage.. and based on all the circumstances, rumors, events, etc.. the longer he goes without being fired, the more nervous any UM person should be with further embarrassment being a reality behind the scenes.. which could become public.

Leverage is right adjective here,by osmosis anyone with a functioning medula would/could weed out any problems. Being a state run institution the state should step in considering what could happen from just the Weiss case in legal actions and liability charges and any thing else involving Tort law. So how they could leave Wade there while damn near everyone else has either left or been booted? It all just smacks of gross negligence as he oversaw the whole production. IMHO there is something deeper. I mean who needs this shit creeping into our 3-4 months of fun. We get enough negligent behavior from politics and newspapers

Has a head football coach ever left Michigan for Wisconsin?
Would Eck be the first?
Did he get Hired by M*? Like a week ago he signed a big extension @ UNM

no way he can stay. has to go. now. he sucks.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore might have had more than football on his mind when his Wolverines were facing archrival Ohio State on November 29.
OnlyFans model Mia Sorety alleges that Moore, 39, slid into her DMs at halftime of Michigan’s 27-9 loss to the Buckeyes
“He was messaging me during halftime of the Ohio state game,” she revealed via X on Friday, December 12. “Like come on focus on football.”

it's crazy to say, but that's absolutely true and you are 100% correct. Moore was the definition of mediocrity and he had zero clue how to develop a QB or passing game.
if this never comes out and he just keeps his job- Michigan was never going to be doing any better than 9-3 or maybe 10-2 and a first round playoff exit with Moore at the helm. he would've been mediocre enough to keep his job and they would've wasted the next 2-3 years of Bryce Underwood's career.

lot of smoke right now it's Dillingham. think that's a home run on paper if it's true.
only 35 years old with plenty of upside and gas in the tank, QB guy who has proven he can develop them with the best of them. 11-3 and playoff appearance in year 2 of the rebuild at ASU and then 8-4 this year with a litany of injuries including to his star QB.
would make sense for him to leave imo. Arizona State just lost said star QB because they didn't have the NIL resources to pay him. that won't be a problem at a place like Michigan, and coaching in the SEC or B1G is a major advantage over coaching in any of the other conferences.

I was thinking Fisch but this guy makes sense. At first I thought he wouldn't really leave because he's from Phoenix, but he has to be frustrated at losing guys to the portal a year after making the playoffs. Which, btw, is kind of weird. Arizona State is huge. I don't know why they have so little support. The basketball program has been bungling along with Bobby Hurley forever now with nothing to show for it.

In the aftermath of SherrOnlyFans Moore (https://www.outkick.com/culture/sherrone-moore-mia-sorety-foursome-request-national-championship) getting fired and arrested, Mike Valenti has a few questions:
Mike: "...here's my problem...what is it with all the Michigan media? ...saying, 'I got a cool story, I just couldn't tell it to you.' If I have one more Michigan person come out an say, 'Well, I knew for months...' Then either you didn't say anything because you're a eunuch or you're horrible at your job."
...
Mike: "...if it was this out there...it begs...who knew what and when? Because if Warde Manuel survives this...he's got a blood oath with Satan."
Rico: "Mike, I'm with you because this didn't happen last week. Apparently this [the affair] happened over a year ago...and then all the sudden, it just came to light? Why now? Why did it all the sudden surface right now after signing day? After the Ohio State game? And now you want to stand on some virtue and say, 'Wll, it's a zero tolerance policy, and he has to go."
Mike: "No it's not because they [Michigan] knew about it...this is what they do. They lie. They deny. They deflect. They just got done destroying evidence. The NCAA came out and said, 'they destroyed so much evidence we can't get to the bottom of it.'"
Rico: "Maybe Sherrone was telling the truth about why he destroyed that cell phone. Maybe it wasn't message to Connor Stallions he was trying to keep hidden. But all of the sudden, that cell phone was gone."
The timing of all this is a good question. Did Michigan beating Ohio State last year buy Moore a whole 'nother year? A whole 'nother year in which Warde Manuel dug Michigan deeper buy hiding Moore's other life? All until he could finally be fired for an upsetting enough loss a whole season later? Losing 27-9 to the Buckeyes?

no he's not. he and his camp, like a lot of the other players and their camps on that roster- couldn't stand Sherrone Moore.
as long as they get someone like a Dillingham or DaBoer who is QB friendly- Underwood is not going nowhere.
-
and he might have spent most of the money and would have to pay it back if he left
-
rumor is both guys have already been interviewed and sent contracts and that Jesse Minter is to be interviewed today. sounds like those are the top 3 guys they are zeroing in on, with Dillingham the leader in clubhouse at the moment. all 3 would be good hires imo. think I like Dillingham the best though- QB guru and a lot younger than DaBoer and while Minter might actually be the best coach and fit of the 3- he'll be in the NFL in a few years if he has any level of success- whereas Dillingham and DaBoer are more than likely CFB lifers.

Dave: So after numerous scandals you’ve decided to open an investigation into the culture of your athletic department?
M: That’s right, Dave. A third-party investigation that will be led by a Chicago-based law firm.
Dave: The same law firm that you recently hired to investigate whether your coach was in an inappropriate relationship with his administrative specialist?
M: Correct, Dave.
Dave: The same law firm that turned up nothing between your coach and his administrative assistant until you lost to Ohio State?
M: Uh, huh.

The rumor mill is rumoring that Dillingham is staying at ASU
could be something, could be nothing...but CKD has yet to sign the extension with ASU as of 30 mins ago.
would have to think if offered, he's leaving. being a coach in todays CFB landscape is all about two things: coaching in the B1G or SEC and being at a school that will commit the resources. ASU is basically a poor in a shitty inferior conference (B12) and simply put just does not have the kind of NIL resources and money for facilities that Michigan can offer him.
Michigan can offer him more money for himself and assistant pool. More money for facilities. And more money for roster management, recruiting, porthole.
Guy had to watch his star QB leave the program because they didn't have the NIL money to pay him. How attractive do you think that has to be for a coach long term? Who would want to stay put in that situation with your hands tied behind your back?

Josh Pate on the Michigan coaching search. 10 min clip, cliff notes: he expects DeBoer to say no (duh) and thinks ASU fans should be very worried about Dillingham. Pate definitely has intel on both candidates- and he is personal friends with Dillingham. Pate thinks Michigan will be a big winner when all is said and done. Kind of agree- as I have long thought Moore was a shit head coach (great OL positional coach though) and almost anyone would be an upgrade over him.

Is Michigan looking at any sanctions or other NCAA slaps on the wrist?
If yes, I can see that affecting how attractive the job is at this time. If no, then UM is kind of a no-brainer move up from ASU. Dependent on how much a coach just happens to like where he already is, of course.

Tempe >>>>> Ann Arbor

Tempe >>>>> Ann Arbor
ehh.. easy to say that in the winter months. I have a really close friend that moved from Northeast Ohio and she lives just in between Tempe and Mesa.. She absolutely hates living there during the summer months because of how hot it is.. Most people will strongly dislike living in NE Ohio/Ann Arbor this time of year due to the freezing cold weather and snow, but absolutely love the areas during late spring, summer and fall. Just like living in Tempe this time of year is great. To each his own..
Also, the cost of living in the extended Phoenix area has become absurd over the last few years.
-
Yeah, I don't think I could handle the Phoenix area summers. I typically run hot, so I can deal with winter [although I don't want to]. I'm the guy wearing shorts and a t-shirt when it's 57 degrees and sunny here in SoCal... But Phoenix is too much. When it's 115 and I feel like I'm in an oven any time I step outside my door, I'd be miserable.

don't see any NCAA sanctions coming because the guy was banging his assistant....
Michigan is just a much better job than ASU. And it always was, but with this new landscape it is even more.
Because of this new NIL/portal era and the money- there are basically only a handful of jobs better than Michigan. You can count them on one hand.
-
Tempe >>>>> Ann Arbor
won't get any disagreement from me. but we're not talking about places to live as a normal ordinary person- we are talking about college football coaching jobs.
one job is a premier job- especially in this era. the other is losing it's 2-year starting QB because they don't have NIL funds to pay him. i'll let you decipher which job is better.

There's part of me that thinks this as well and then the reality check side of me reminds myself what a Shatshow this athletic department has been and that I shouldn't have complete faith of the optimistic sides. Especially considering reports that they had feedback of the Sherrone situation for a long time now and nothing happened. In hindsight, the freaking Juwan Howard situation and did nothing with it. We can't overlook self control issues and make excuses like.. well.. it happened because of this.. No, they freaking lacked self control in different ways and that has consequences. Did Greg Gard grab Juwan's arm first and get in his face? yes, does that justify a reaction like he had? no. That's where discipline, a requirement for leadership, needs to be clear as day. The fact that this department seemingly isn't learning a lesson tells me not to trust the delay but question if other's have a lack of trust which is why there's not commitment yet.
Do i want the delay of hiring be a good reason why? yes.. do i think it's possible? yes.. Is money and a good position great incentive? yes... but sometimes, really great leaders pass on money and positions if the character of the organization does not meet their standard and a good argument can be made against the character of the Michigan culture right now.

I dunno we've just watched the whole Penn State, LSU, Florida & Auburn coaching search adventures and looking at all of these same names floated by. Dillingham was born in Phoenix, went to HS and coached in Scottsdale, and attended college in Tempe. With his entire family within miles of where he lives. ASU padded his accounts pretty good. He's not enamored with AA specially after what the Athl.Dept has turned into,Warde would have to stand under Niagara Falls for a week to wash off the stench.

I dunno... I don't think it would be a bad idea for Michigan to get a known commodity; someone who can be a stable force and right the ship after everything over the past 5 years. Even if they know he's probably only a 5-year caretaker coach.

you may be right.
I'd take DeBoer in a second but don't believe that is realistic and have questions about his defenses.
I tend to think Dillingham or Minter are the best options. throw boatloads of cash at both, make them each say no. then go to Wittingham as a last resort.

If i'm in his shoes, I keep making my success blatant in the NFL and quietly let the results do the talking.

Plus, unlike someone like Harbaugh, he really has zero ties to Michigan. 2 years there as DC. That's it.
If he knows walking into Ann Arbor is going to be a hornet's nest where he's going to be forced to carry baggage that's not really his--after all, Stalions' scheme predated his arrival 2022--I don't know why he'd take the job. He'd be smarter to wait until something better (like the right NFL HC opp) comes along.

Jim Harbaugh with DC Jesse Minter in LA and Mike MacDonald in Seattle have both had back to back 10+ win seasons taking over bad teams and so far have combined for 42 wins in 2 seasons in the NFL as head coaches since leaving Michigan.
Michigan has also had 35 NFL draft picks over the past 4 drafts. Sometimes it’s okay to just admit someone was better and move on.
Breaking news: Jeem is really good at corchin' foosball and he got arguably the two best DC in all of football to coach for him in MacDonald and Minter thanks to his older bro John loaning them out to him from the Ravens coaching farm system.

Yes, "4 sum." As in foursome. Not easing into it with a threesome. Not a threesome and then you work your way up to a foursome? The Michigan superfan didn't stutter. She says Sherrone wanted a foursome.
"I declined because im already rich and can buy my own tickets," Sorety boasted, before dropping another huge bombshell. She also claims that instead of the foursome, Moore "was venting to me about his wife and side chick drama."

"I declined because im already rich and can buy my own tickets," Sorety boasted, before dropping another huge bombshell. She also claims that instead of the foursome, Moore "was venting to me about his wife and side chick drama."
honestly, he deserves it.
what a f'ing moron that dude is.

just saw this "A Michigan eatery The Brown Jug has menu items named after disgraced ex-Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore and his paramour Paige Shiver — though not for long" The Post has learned. “I have a feeling that’s going to get changed fast,” a server told a Post reporter who ordered the “Sherrone Moore.” Sources familiar with operations at The Brown Jug dished to The Post that the menus are currently being reprinted to change the names of those items. Notable potables on the menu include Tom Brady’s Corned Beef Reuben, Michael Phelp’s Vegan Beyond Burger, and Jim Harbaugh’s 10oz Sirloin Steak in honor of Michigan’s previous head football coach

Mitch Albom: Sherrone Moore firing surprise, but it's not a shock
No one is above anything.
If you haven’t learned that by now in the new world of college football, learn it today. Schools aren’t above bad behavior. Players aren’t above bad behavior. Coaches aren’t above bad behavior.
The only surprise left is that anyone is surprised at anything, anymore.
The sudden firing on Wednesday, Dec. 10, of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore – who less than two years ago was being celebrated as the right man at the right time – only proves that what you see and what you get can be two different things in college sports today.
Moore was characterized as a strong-willed, disciplined young leader, who in his introductory press conference said, “I coach hard, but I love harder.”That once admirable statement will now become a punchline, after Moore was dismissed by U-M for an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
“This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy,” athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement, “and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
With that, the coach who took over in 2024, after Jim Harbaugh shocked fans by jumping to the NFL, departs with a shock of his own.
Or maybe it’s just a shock to folks who still believed that being the leader of a major college team implied responsibility, decorum, self-discipline and role-model behavior.
Silly us.
No one is above anything.
Don't brag, gloat or judge yet
-
hey Mitch
same as it ever was.... Schools , Players, & Coaches haven’t ever been above bad behavior.

My guess is Kenny Dillingham is willing to take the Michigan job and might have a conditional offer from Michigan. But the holdup is KD getting clarity on what exactly he is walking into at Ann Arbor when it comes to the fallout of this latest Michigan scandal.
KD is worthy of a higher profile gig, but for a number of reasons he's a better fit in Tempe than Ann Arbor. KD grew up in The Valley, he's proven himself in Tempe, the magnifying glass is off, and the local media coverage is very welcoming. There's an easier comfort and freedom he has earned in Tempe that KD will lose in Ann Arbor.
I'm wondering if KD is realizing that his best efforts either in Tempe or Ann Arbor will yield about the same number of regular season wins and chances at the CFP. Yes, Michigan will pay more and fund the NIL and recruiting more, but isn't this offset by the tougher Big 10 schedule and cutthroat pressure that comes with coaching a blue blood.
In three seasons at ASU, this past 8-4 season captures most of what can be expected of a longer-term tenure by KD. His first season was a total rebuild. His second season advancing into the CFP caught lightning in a bottle. And this past season winning eight games showcased the positives of KD. His week-to-week coaching stabilized ASU through injuries to his best players. The best example of this is after Sam Leavitt's season ending injuries, KD did a praiseworthy job setting up backup Jeff Sims for success by reorienting the offensive game plans to manage Sims' limitations. Most notably Sims' downfield passing is a major drop off compared to Leavitt. Despite injury setbacks, ASU started 3-0 with Sims starting, before losing to Arizona in their rivalry game.

It's a really good post CatsbyAZ. I think you outline it perfectly well and probably exactly what's happening in both his process of making the decision as well as weighing the good and bad. Even if he doesn't end up in Ann Arbor, a likable coach that I'll root for. It's a pretty good setup. Being the coach where you grew up with your family all around you? In a perfect world, I'd never want to leave it. That being said, there's the realization that the world and system aren't perfect and when you have opportunity, you have to take calculated risks sometimes.
-
The other issue, is we might be one reorientation away from the Big Ten and SEC breaking away. I didn't think Jonathan Smith would leave his alma mater for MSU, but when Oregon State was left behind, it changed.
I don't think its a concern about further sanctions, as much as the AD situation. Nobody wants to be hired by a guy who might be getting pushed out.
But I agree, the fact that it's so quiet, and he hasn't signed yet, tells me I think he's still the favorite.
-
I think Biff is gonna be interim longer than people expect.
One of my BiL's is a Sun Devil. Seems pretty confident the ASU keeps him.

when is the interim AD announced?

I think Biff is gonna be interim longer than people expect.
One of my BiL's is a Sun Devil. Seems pretty confident the ASU keeps him.
I think you are wrong.
Your BiL is guilty of wishful thinking. He's a fan. I get it. The reality is ASU is a poor that cannot offer Dillingham what Michigan can. And with the landscape of how things are today- the gap between the haves and the have nots has never been greater.
IF Michigan actually offers the job, he's taking it. Not convinced they have offered him anything concrete yet. They seem to be waiting on DeBoer, which is stupid. He's not saying yes win lose or draw vs OU. Would be a lateral move at best and after only 2 years. Yeah, not happening.
ASU to Michigan? Now that is a major step up.
On3 ASU head writer says ASU's NIL budget is $3.5 million. That is a pathetic joke. Guy also says ASU would need to be at $15 million just to compete with the other Big 12 teams- and they are nowhere near meeting that. Hence why Sam Leavitt is leaving.
The reality is the reality. Dude is just bashing his head against the wall at a place like Arizona State. He will never do any better than he did in 2024 with the 1st rd playoff exit- and that is with everything going his way. At Michigan he will have a real shot to compete for the ultimate prize because he can land and keep far more elite talent than he ever could dream of doing so at Arizona State. Coaches are competitive. They want to win the ultimate prize.
Speaking of which, here is ESPN's Pete Thameltoe who imo is right on the money about Dilly in this video where he basically says yeah the guy is from Arizona State but it'll be a career decision- guy wants to win and can't at Arizona State because: they are poor and losing it's best players to the porthole. What coach would willingly sign up for that? Oh yeah, none.

ASU insider says it's a 6 or 7 on concern scale with Dillingham leaving for Michigan and could go to 8 or 9 really soon...

hard to find a guy more plugged into the CFB landscape than Bruce Feldman. for some reason Michigan has a hard on for DeBoer he says. stupid mistake. just go snatch Dillingham and be done with it. he's a lot younger, has got a lot more upside and is a better QB guy imo.

This thread started ruined. It's a case study in waiting until after the bowl game to start the next season's thread.
The first post should have been the announcement of the next HC's hiring. Instead the first 50 pages are going to be about Sherrone Moore.

whataboutism is a stupid gay made up word. just my opinion.
hey now, dumpster fire right now but i will take it if it means it means bye bye to Warde Manuel's incompetent ass once and for all, and unless they REALLY fuck up this coaching hire i don't see how there is anyway in hell they do not get a massive coaching upgrade from Sharin' Moore Cock. that dude really was a not ready for prime time way in over his head ass clown. we can all thank Jeem for taking the $16 mil a year NFL bag so late in the game and sticking the middle finger to Michigan and basically forcing Sharin' Moore Cock onto Michigan. don't forget- Sharin' was Jeem's hand picked successor.
imagine if Jeem actually left at a reasonable time and not so late in the game and they actually had time to do a real HC search- Sharin' ain't getting that fucking job- and they probably also have time to get a god damn QB in the porthole. Thanks a lot Jeem.

the fact that Jeem had this dude and Jesse Minter on the same staff at Michigan is crazy...two of the very best coaches in the entire NFL....couldn't get either to succeed Jeem- instead they got stuck with a dude who tried to kill himself with a fucking butter knife....depressing.

If this was the post-game interview I'm thinking of, then in fact I did say to several people (not here, and they mostly disagreed with me) that he struck me as a very low-character guy. I knew nothing about him at the time, and I didn't say mentally unstable. But the problems aren't surprising. Low character for long enough frequently leads to instability.
I should be cataloging all this so I can note the parallels for irony when Kiffin inevitably burns Death Valley down.

Quit your whining. You got your national title, and so did he. Everyone got what they wanted out of that relationship.
And you believe with all your heart (and you are probably right) that Michigan is a good enough brand that you will immediately get someone who can bring you the next national title.

Not arguing the mess about Michigan.. At all. But don't start questioning if the Michigan fans here(or aplenty outside here) turn into assholes when the success returns because the handful that are getting their rocks off by piling on every angle possible.
Won't be my style, but actions have reactions. Some people prefer to pile on rather than actual discuss their team still being in it and talk football. High school drama queens in middle aged male bodies.

you know what, you're right. i am being a whiny bitch. Jeem got the title.
i don't necessarily think it's the brand of Michigan that will help them get a solid hire- it's the resources. todays game is literally all about who can fire the money cannons into NIL. Michigan always had stupid money at it's disposal but never really put it to use until recently- and that was before the 2nd richest person on planet earth started banging a die-hard Michigan lady.
and i've long thought Sharin' was a dogshit coach- since last year really. think it'd be really hard not to get an upgrade there- you'd have to really screw that hire up somehow for the new guy to be a downgrade.
-
I should be cataloging all this so I can note the parallels for irony when Kiffin inevitably burns Death Valley down.
Kiffin & Sharin' together would be a hell of a two-man duo hollering at the bitches trying to pick up young puss.....good thing they were never on the same coaching staff together.

FFS... This is one of the things, as a fan of an neutral program, that pisses me off about the Michigan fans trying to constantly diminish this...
I don't care if Signgate wasn't particularly effective. That isn't the goddamned point. The point is that it was one of the most egregious and unconscionable cheating scandals I've ever seen. I put it akin to point shaving or paying off referees, but often those things can be coordinated by individual players or people outside the program, whereas this was institutionalized cheating... With literal receipts, submitted as part of expense reports! Bagmen and recruiting violations are one thing, but this was one of those that was targeting the sanctity of the actual on-the-field competition (much like point shaving or paying off referees).
Trying to defend this is like terrorists saying "yeah, we intended to corrupt the NYC water supply with Ebola and kill several million people, but we screwed up the recipe and all we did was give a couple thousand people diarrhea." And then acting like they should be excused because they failed to achieve their intent.
If your defense of cheating is "while, we were still good even when we stopped cheating, so our cheating didn't really matter!", you clearly don't see things the way the rest of college football sees them.

What are Michigan fans supposed to do? Take the goddamn constant harassment any time any conversation for a decade about Michigan football comes up? Conversation about recruiting 3 years later. .. cheating. Coach search. Cheating.. basketball.. well at least maybe they aren’t cheating.
when people stfu about it, then you can expect better response.

Is Michigan Auburn North or is Auburn Michigan South?

No, none will admit to cheating….at least outright. But if you read the comments, between the lines, they as much as do. Comments like karma, Harbaugh set us on a bad path, we’re paying for the last few years, etc.

Millions of reports that Kyle Whittingham will be the coach
-
hope it's true and comes out before the bowl game
could distract the players at Utah

He would be a GREAT hire for that program. Consistent winner, very likable. Credibility with media, builds physicality into both his Offense and defense, knows what to do with a talented QB. And will clean up the mess that hangs over the program.

Nobody has to tell Whittingham how to run a football program. He'll be a stabilizing bridge and just what Michigan needs right now. Solid,no nonsense, practical
But I hope not

My only thing with Whittingham is he's been at Utah since I was a freshman in high school and I'm 46. He's going to be a in a whole new environment, and I'm not sure the structure around Michigan football is all that strong. But he's been a very solid coach for a very long time and apparently doesn't bang his assistants, so that's a win. Though I'm a little foggy on why he isn't still the coach at Utah.
-
he's looking for that one huge check on his way out to retirement - I'd guess the check when he's fired will be considerable

Speculation on my part, but I believe he did not like the equity deal that Utah was about to sign.
Also, I think it’s a home run higher for Michigan. He’s a culture builder and believes in super physical style of football both sides. Plus he’ll clean up the shit that’s going on there.
-
Great hire!
-
See.....this is what was fishy about him leaving Utah. Not retiring, specifically, but suddenly leaving. I knew something was amiss!
-
Initially he was outspoken against NIL, like Dabo.
-
Everyone successful wants to maintain the status quo and only changes how they do things if they must.
-
well, he will have more NIL $$$ to spend at Michigan
-
Fewer Samoan defensive linemen, though.

perhaps that's what brought him outta retirement??

like the hire all things considered.
For some reason they seemed dead set on Kalen DeBoer- which was always a pipe dream and retarded waste of time.
Jesse Minter was never leaving the NFL.
They bungled the hit on Dillingham.
Timing was of the essence and options weren’t great.
Wittingham will be a stabilizing force and right the ship. He will bring integrity and character to the whole operation and his teams are always tough, physical on defense and committed to running the football.
As good of a hire as they could’ve gotten considering the situation.
-
He was getting a little stale in Salt Lake. He finally relented on NIL after going 2-7 in their inaugural Big 12 season in 2024. He dominated the Holy War for a while, but has dropped the last three in that series.
-
Nice guy but I'm not opposed to him trending down :13:

Couldn’t agree more. Minter would have been more of the same and has “stains” from the multiple scandals. Michigan needed a total, clean break.
Daboer would have been a guess/ not sure why the hype?
Michigan got a proven winner. A guy who builds the kind of physical football that Michigan likes.
But most importantly - the guy has universal respect and credibility among coaches and media. Just saying- when is the last time you you could say that about the UM coach. You have to go back to Lloyd Carr.

Old: "Yeah, we cheated, we got away with it, and we won the natty, suckers! F the feckless NCAA and screw all the whiny OSU fans that didn't think of cheating first!"
New: "Whittingham exemplifies the high character and ethics that the Harvard of the West has always been known for. We've always been beyond reproach, not like that football team masquerading as a university down in Columbus. Michigan: doing it the right way since the beginning."
there will never be such a pivot.
sign stealing is way over blown. it is not the advantage idiots on here think it is. most who know ball actually laugh at idiots who get hysterical about it.
the line about Wittingham bringing stability and integrity to the operation was an obvious shot at that degenerate fuck Sharon Moore Dick and the bumbling incompetent fuckstick who hired him who inexplicably still has a job- Warde Manuel.

Now that he is your coach, you ought to learn how to spell his name. :111:

Sign stealing wasn't overblown, that's why they did it for over 2 + yrs
sign stealing is way over blown.
Nice try but how about NO!!! That's why they did it for over 2 + yrs and the NCAA has 74 pages on it ask Sony Dykes what happened when they were changed

yup, why not quit after 2 or 3 games if it didn't help?
why do offenses call audibles? if the play call doesn't matter
DUH!!!
-
What good are the audibles if the Defense already knows what audibles they are calling?
-
like the DC and OC hires. keep the players from fleeing to the portal and sign a couple good portal guys and this team is better in 2026 than it was in 2025.

this is mostly great news. Wink Martindale was a horrible hire and fit from the word go. Ron Bellamy hasn't developed a single WR in his 10 years at Michigan.

I like the new staff- and especially Whittingham. He will optimize the substantial talent on that Roster- especially Underwood. I think they are a playoff caliber team in year 1.

the offense will show cornsiderable improvement

M* seems to be killing it
Under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, Michigan football has been playing a game of you win some, and you lose some. And while there have been significant transfer portal entries in the past few days, Sunday has marked a series of wins for the Wolverines.
Michigan managed to secure the rights to former Texas wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and former Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi on Sunday, but they weren't done. Fresh off a visit to Ann Arbor, there were high hopes that JJ Buchanan, the former Utah tight end, would follow his coaching staff from the Big XII to the Big Ten, and it turns out that's the case.
On Sunday night, Buchanan made it official, committing to Michigan football.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A Michigan football transfer claims other players on the team blackmailed Sherrone Moore about his relationship with another staffer.
Anthony Simpson transferred to Michigan last offseason after two years at Arizona and two years at Massachusetts. He arrived in Ann Arbor with 68 career catches for 910 yards and three touchdowns.
But Simpson didn’t have much of a role on last year’s team. His only touch was a 10-yard carry in Michigan’s 63-3 blowout win over Central Michigan.
Simpson entered the transfer portal last week and had plenty to say about the situation on social media.
Simpson said he was the best slot receiver and fastest player on the team. He said team captains were advocating for him to play more.
“I was treated unfairly due to Sherrone Moore being blackmailed by players and staff members, which jeopardized my opportunity to get on the field,” Simpson posted on X. “I was denied fairness.”
Moore was fired as Michigan’s head coach in December when the university learned of an inappropriate romantic relationship between him and another staffer. There had been rumors about the relationship in the past, and there are conflicting accounts on how much everyone else in the building knew about what was going on.
Simpson is clearly implying that another slot receiver used knowledge about Moore’s forbidden relationship as leverage to get more playing time.
Michigan’s starting slot receiver, Semaj Morgan, appeared to respond to Simpson’s comments on his own social media, saying, “Y’all let people tell y’all anything and believe it.”
