Title: Week 13 S.O.C. Taking the Lincoln to Eugene
Post by: MrNubbz on November 22, 2025, 09:22:09 AM
Mornin All
Pretty decent match ups,the biggies are in the BIG

No.22 Mizzou @ No.8 Sooners, Noon CBS - OU needs to win out to make its first CFP appearance since 2019. They climbed back into the race thanks to narrow wins over ranked Tennessee and Alabama teams. While the Sooners have faced three top-11 passing offenses, Missouri is the first top-11 rushing offense Oklahoma has faced in 2025. Missouri comes into the game averaging 241.7 yards per game on the ground, sixth nationally, while the Sooners are allowing just 82.2 yards per game rushing. The Sooners held Alabama to just 80 yards on the ground last week and no team has rushed for more than 146 yards against them this season. If quarterback Beau Pribula (ankle) returns as hoped for Missouri, this should be a competitive game. Oklahoma is now two wins away from clinching a spot in the 12-team playoff.

L'Ville @ SMU.Noon ESPN2. - Two 7-3 teams set to lock horns,SMU's hopes of returning to the ACC Championship Game are largely contingent on this matchup. SMU had its second off week of the season last weekend. In their last game, a 45-13 thumping of Boston College on Nov. 8, the Mustangs amassed a season-high 574 yards of offense. Quarterback Kevin Jennings completed just half (16 of 32) of his passes, but the junior threw for 325 yards. All three of his touchdown passes went for more than 25 yards. Louisville is one of the top defenses in the conference, allowing the second-fewest yards per game at 297.9.

Arkansas @ No.17 Texas,3:30 ABC - Texas will look to keep its waning hopes alive for a return to the College Football Playoff when it hosts rival Arkansas on Saturday afternoon. Capable Hogs looking to upset Horns whose current situation was exacerbated by a 35-10 loss at then-No. 5 Georgia on Saturday. The Razorbacks, meanwhile saw their losing streak extend to eight games with a 23-22 setback at LSU on Saturday. Bobby Petrino was the Razorbacks' coach the last time Arkansas played in Austin, in 2008. The Hogs feature a strong passing offense led by quarterback Taylen Green and a ground attack that is second in the SEC in yards per game. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said on Monday. “We play against a very, very dangerous Arkansas team. The record is not indicative of how well these guys have been playing. They’ve played four road games. They’ve lost by a combined 11 points on the road,”

Game of the Week
No.15 USC @ No.7 Oregon,3:30 CBS - Oregon is on a roll with four straight wins since its one loss of the season Oct. 11 to No. 2 Indiana. Now an old and familiar rival comes to Autzen Stadium for the final home game of the regular season. The Ducks have the most to lose on Saturday as they're positioned to host a first-round game in the College Football Playoff. A loss to the Trojans could knock them out of the 12-team playoff altogether. The Trojans have won three straight games since an Oct. 18 loss to Notre Dame and have an offense ranked No. 6 in the FBS and No. 1 in the Big Ten. USC averages 488.9 yards per game and is led by quarterback Jayden Maiava and the conference's most productive passing attack. The Ducks have won seven of the last nine games in the matchup, including three straight. In the hunt for at-large bids, both Oregon and USC’s resumes get beefed up with a win on Saturday.

TCU @ No.23 Houston,4:00 FOX -  Houston rejoined the national rankings despite not playing last weekend, but the foremost goal remains unchanged with TCU and Baylor left to play. The Horned Frogs played in the 2022 CFP National Championship following a 12-0 start that season but have since dropped 17 of 38 games and have drifted back toward the pack. TCU gets a chance to spoil Houston's Big 12 title hopes. A 10-2 Houston finish won’t crack the College Football Playoff rankings. But the Cougars don’t know that. BUT the underdog has won each of Houston’s last four games.

Nebraska @ Penn St,7:00 NBC - In this game, TJ Lateef and Ethan Grunkemeyer have been thrust into important roles and found some good fortune last week. A true freshman, Lateef went 13-of-15 for 205 yards and three touchdowns in the 28-21 win over UCLA last week. Grunkemeyer prepares for his fifth start for Penn State (4-6, 1-6) under similar circumstances. The redshirt freshman threw two touchdown passes in last week's 28-10 win over Michigan State that snapped a six-game losing streak. The Cornhuskers are 4-1 against the Nittany Lions since joining the Big Ten, including a 30-23 triumph in the last meeting in 2020.

Lions RB  Kaytron Allen ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while Nicholas Singleton chipped in with 56 yards on the ground. Nebraska has a dynamic backfield threat of its own in Emmett Johnson, who posted 129 yards rushing and 103 receiving against UCLA. The Husker back has carried the offense over the last several weeks, running for 120 yards or more in four of the last five games, and last week, also caught three passes for over 100 yards and two scores in the win over UCLA. Johnson, is aiming for his fourth straight 100-yard rushing game and his seventh overall this season. Can Penn State really come up with a big performance against a bowl bound team and win the final home game of the season?

No.20 Tennessee @ FLA,7:30 ABC - Former SEC East powerhouses, Tennessee and Florida have played every season since 1990 when they rotated back onto each other's schedule during Florida coach Steve Spurrier's first year in Gainesville. Tennessee won 23-17 in overtime last season, giving the VOLS two victories in the past three meetings. However, the Gators have won the past 10 against UT @ home, with the Vols' last road triumph occurring on Sept. 20, 2003.

Dear ESPN,

I haven't had my coffee. The sun hasn't even shown itself yet. I get up with the dog, take him out to do his business, feed him his breakfast, and turn on the TV.

Why is the first thing I see a shirtless Pat McAfee?!

Nobody needs this!

Sincerely,

Waking up in Tucson. Will be heading to the University of Arizona campus soon. Six of us going today’s Arizona Vs Baylor game kicking off in another 2.5 hours. Layering up for the weather; all the storms slamming Southern California the past two days are now in full force over Arizona. Kind of a good day to get caught up on campus and miss out on watching many of the other games today; seems like a thin slate of quality matchups.

The rare Saturday where all kids activities are done by 1.

Our HS team is playing in the WPIAL championship in the Steelers stadium at 5.  Our 12 year old initially wanted to go, but all 4 championships are there today, starting at 11.  Plus the Penguins have a home game.  And it's Light Up Night, which is Pittsburgh's giant Christmas kickoff/tree lighting.

I said if he has a friend going who wants to take him, go for it, but for as cool as it is for the kids to play in an NFL stadium, it's a weird experience to have like 3,000 fans in an 80k stadium for a 3A (out of 6A) game

I only saw the very end but it was a hilarious Nissan Heisman House ad:

Eddie George was driving and they got to a "Michigan" sign so he said "We are going around". The other passengers said "around" then it showed a GPS showing a route East from Toledo,  around Lake Erie AND Lake Michigan AND Lake Superior to enter Minnesota from Ontario at Thunder Bay. Then it showed the AWD Nissan turning into a field as the audio was one of the other Heisman winners saying "That's like a 12 hour detour".

Well that's silly. Anyone with geographic sense would know you'd just take the turnpike straight across Indiana until you hit 94, then take that through Chicago, Milwaukee, and across the state to Minneapolis... You never have to sully your tires by making them touch Michigan's roadways.

Was there something that I missed in pop culture, or history, or somewhere else about two decades ago that explains the popularity of the name Malachi amongst current college football players?

I just saw a MN player with that name catch a long pass, and there are at least two players I know on Purdue's roster named Malachi...

I mean, I know it's Biblical, but I'm wondering if this is just confirmation bias that I feel like I've seen the name more often, or if it's actually a trend...

That Oregon punt returner reminded me of Ted Ginn on his TD.
That cat leaves a vapor trail where ever he goes.Against Penn St. The Ducks were going for a 2 pt conversion but thru a pick. LB returns it down field from the endzone he zoomed past every one and I mean every making the tackle 50 yds down field. Causing a fumble another lion pick ups and starts running so he tackled that guy too.
