Both teams have two cupcake wins, a less than impressive win over a bottom tier P4 team, and then a loss to a better team in their conference opener.
Nebraska hung with Michigan, but couldn't stop the run. MSU's offense has been improved, but lost 2 starting OL last week, so we'll see if they can take advantage in the trenches, because Nebraska is leading the nation in yards per passing attempt allowed and opponent passer rating.
MSU is outside the top 100 in both. However Aidan Chiles is #2 in the Big Ten, behind just Demond Williams, in terms of win probability added when he runs the ball. Railoa is not nearly as mobile, but MSU's back seven has done nothing to make me think they can slow any decent to better QB down.
Nebraska 34, Michigan State 23

oooh, a game week thread!
____________
Michigan State and Nebraska have played some classic games against each other since joining the Big Ten. Six of the last seven have been decided by a single possession. The Spartans have won the past two games, as well as four of the last seven.
Rhule is 0-1 against the Spartans. This will be his first game against Jonathan Smith as MSU’s head coach.

2018 was close, but I wouldn't call it a classic.

think there is a high probability of some twelving going on in this game. both teams have really good QBs and WRs but highly questionable defenses.
I'm gonna say something like.....41-37, Nebraska.

I'll take a win of any type with the Huskers poor play in the trenches
even if Raiola has to set a few passing records

Raiola should have plenty of time to set some passing records this weekend. Sparty front isn't anywhere near as gnarly as Michigan's. They just don't have any Jaishawn Barham's, Derrick Moore's, Rayshaun Benny's, or even TJ Guy's attacking the OL. Nebraska won't see a defensive front that good again all season.

hopefully, that woke up the O-line. They got hammered pretty good over the bye week
