Title: Big Ten Power Rankings After Week 4
Post by: ManHawk on September 21, 2025, 07:49:27 AM
What does everybody think?  This week many Big Ten teams got their first confernce road tests.  How did they do?  Maryland gets an A, while Michigan and Iowa barely pass,  and Illinois fails miserably.

My rankings are in a post below.

1.  Ohio State - got the week off. Plays at Wash in next game
2.  Oregon - dominates Ore St (OSU3),  but previous beatdown of Okie St (OSU2) does not look as impressive now.
.3.  Penn St - Big game coming in week 5 hosting Oregon
4.  Indiana -  Absolutely destroys Illinois in every way at home.  Next test is road game at Iowa
5.  USC -  takes care of Mich St at home.  USC now gets to fly back to the Midwest for a road game against an angry Illinois team.
6.  Michigan -  Wins big test on the road at Nebraska
7.  Iowa -  surprisingly scores 38 points in win at Rutgers.  But if the Iowa defense can't stop Rutgers, how are they gonna stop Indiana next week?
8.  Illinois -  hard to find anything good in loss at Indiana.  Now they get to host USC.
9.  Washington -  wins the Apple Cup.  Now gets to host Ohio St in next game
10.  Nebraska -  not quite good enough to beat Michigan at home
11.  Maryland -dominates Wisc on the road.
12.  Rutgers - despite loss at home to Iowa, the Rutgers  QB and his star WR both look to have all Big Ten potential.
13.  Minnesota- off week.  Hosting Rutgers in next game.
14.  Mich St - loses late night game at USC
15.  Purdue - loses at Notre Dame
16.  Northwestern - off week.  Hosting UCLA in next game
17.  Wisconsin - gets dominated by MD at home.  You have go back the 80's to remember a Wisc team this bad.
18.  UCLA -  got the week off.  At least they didn't lose.  Flying to Northwestern for next game.

1.  Oregon - if Dante Moore is what I think he's becoming- they are #1 imo.
2.  Ohio State - here by default.
3.  Penn St - Drew Allar has been a disappointment thus far- and against a laughable OOC schedule at that. was expecting him to level up as a SR and in his 3rd year starting and PSU to run away with #1 spot in B1G. hasn't happened. yet.
4.  Indiana -  have to be here by default after how they dismantled Illinois. got tough tests in the next two games.
5.  Michigan - Bryce Underwood is getting better every week, WR's still suck however. Clean up the slop and undisciplined play and as Bryce grows- team could threaten for a playoff run. Bye week comes at perfect time.
6.  USC - nice win over Sparty at home. next 3 game stretch will tell the tale of their season, on the road vs a pissed off wounded BERT team, at home vs Michigan, and then on the road vs their arch rival Notre Dame. Call me crazy but will never believe in a Lincoln Riley team until I see it.
7.  Iowa -  where did that come from? do they finally have an offense?
8.  Washington -  have a feeling they are a lot better than people think. sneaky good team imo.
9.  Maryland - they are a rising team ascending team with that stud true frosh QB.
10. Illinois -  were vastly overrated as a top 10 team in the nation. they are however a top 10 team in the B1G.
11.  Nebraska - they are dogshit on both lines of scrimmage. hell of a punter and QB though. Matt Rhule should probably stick to podcasting cause he can't win big games to save his life.
12.  Rutgers - not the worst team in the conference anymore. something to be proud of.
13.  Minnesota - here by default almost.
14.  Mich St - Aidan Chiles is super talented. Really like his WR's too. Rest of that team is....man...tough to watch.
15.  Purdue - nice trick play.
16.  Wisconsin - wheels seem to be falling off, the Luke Fickell experiment is likely finished soon.
17.  Northwestern - at least they aren't UCLA, right?
18.  UCLA - worst program in FBS? Probably.

Obviously agree with the first part.
but, your gonna hafta find me a podcaster that could win even a few Big Ten games with that dogshit

1) Ducks - took care of business against the Beavers, comfortably pulling away in the second half. so keeping them right here.Hosting the Lions next
2)tOSU - off a bye Big Ten play will begin with a road test against the Huskies. In what will be a raucous & tough environment in Seattle
3)PSU - Lions off a bye after three easy wins to begin the season and used the time to zero in on the hi flying  Ducks.
4) Indy- putting them here as they toppled Illinois in dominant fashion now on the road vs Ferentz
5)USC - haven't been dominate but still undefeated, putting the Spartans away late, rather early in the morning
6)Mii-sh-eegan - went on the road, beat a decent 'Skers squad and moved the stix when they had to.Justice Haynes appears to be a great portal pick
7)Huskies - Whipped cross state rival Washington State 59-24 host tOSU next. 1st Bucks contest I'll watch in it's entirety, hoping to get out with a W
8)'Skers - didn't have quite enough to best a solid M squad that gashed them on the ground
9)Illini - one more game like that from bert and they'll be in the bottom half
10) Terrapins - people sleeping on them as they pasted UW on the road. They’ve won each game by double figures thanks to the emergence of FR QBMalik Washington
11)Iowa offense coming alive at the right time beating Knights in NJ. Next up they host the red hot Hoosiers

The  rest can just up their game

Contenders: no change.
1) Ohio State: this coming week at Washington isn't nothing.
2) Oregon: but this week's game will be a doozy.
3) Penn State: ^^^^^^^^

Top-25-ish:
4) Indiana: I did NOT see that coming. Interesting test at Iowa this week.
5) Michigan: getting the win at Nebraska was pretty good.
6) USC: not that impressive to win at home against MSU, but a decent performance.
7) Iowa? This might be generous, but cross-country travel and a win is good. I still have questions. Indiana will likely answer them.

Could sneak up on someone:
8) Nebraska: good effort, just short.
9) Illinois: exposed.
10) Washington: should I give them more credit for dominating an old rival? No.
11) Michigan State: losing cross-country against a pretty good liking team shouldn't result in much of a drop.
12) Minnesota: wisely took the week off. Rutgers at home should be a good bounce back game.

Pur-Don't:
13) Rutgers: somehow helped Iowa find its offense.
14) Maryland: 4-0 has to be worth something, and dominant at Wisconsin is surprising. Take an extra week to enjoy, then make Washington fly 3000 miles to play you.
15) Purdue: respectable loss. Kind of sums up this category, though.
16) Wisconsin: pride makes me put the Badgers above Northwestern, but this team is simply unprepared, and odds are good they lose out.
17) Northwestern: will likely pick up another win this week with UCLA coming to the banks of Lake Michigan.

Mountain West Division:
18) UCLA: a chance for a win in the B1G pillow fight of the week.

Dang, cracking the top five is no joke. Three undefeated teams on the outside looking in, and one of them is USC. Another can't even crack the top ten.
