Well it is now official, Ohio State is the first team to appear in 1,000 AP Polls. The Buckeyes will maintain their lead in AP Poll Appearances for the foreseeable future as the team with the second most AP Poll Appearances is Michigan and the Wolverines trail the Buckeyes by 72 appearances. With 16-17 polls typically released each year, it would take more than four years of Michigan being ranked every week and Ohio State being unranked every week for the Buckeyes to relinquish their lead in appearances.
The 2025 preseason AP Poll:
- Texas, their first preseason #1
- Penn State, their highest start since being #1 in 1997
- Ohio State
- Clemson
- Georgia
- Notre Dame
- Oregon
- Alabama
- LSU
- Miami
- ASU
- Illinois
- USCe
- Michigan
- Florida
- SMU
- KSU
- Oklahoma
- aTm
- Indiana
- Ole Miss
- ISU
- TxTech
- Tennessee
- Boise
There will obviously be a major shake-up early in the season as #1 Texas visits #3 Ohio State on August 30. In other notable (ie losable) games for the ranked teams in weeks 0 and 1:
- #22 ISU faces #17 KSU in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 23 at noon on ESPN.
- #25 BoiseSt visits USF on Thursday, August 28 at 5:30 on ESPN.
- #8 Alabama visits FSU on Saturday, August 30 at 3:30 on ABC.
- #9 LSU visits #4 Clemson on Saturday, August 30 at 7:30 on ABC.
- #6 Notre Dame visits #10 Miami on Sunday, August 31 at 7:30 on ABC.
There are only four ranked-vs-ranked games in weeks 0 and 1 but they are big ones. Three (TX@tOSU, LSU@Clemson, and ND@Mia) are top-10 matchups and in all three the higher ranked team is on the road. The other early ranked-vs-ranked game is sneaky important. ISU and KSU are two of the top contenders in the B12 so their game will be one of the keys to getting to the B12CG.

I read it's 8 straight years UGA has been in the top 5, which is unique for their program, and not bad. Granted it means little beyond some imagery.
