Title: 2025 PSU Record Projection
Post by: ELA on July 23, 2025, 02:15:46 PM
Still no SP+ projections, so going with Massey

NEVADA --- W (1)
FIU --- W (1)
VILLANOVA --- W (1)
OREGON --- W (0.63)
@Ucla --- W (0.84)
NORTHWESTERN --- W (0.98)
@Iowa --- W (0.74)
@Ohio State --- L (0.25)
INDIANA --- W (0.75)
@Michigan State --- W (0.91)
NEBRASKA --- W (0.91)
@Rutgers --- W (0.85)

11-1 based on W/L, but on win probablilty it's 9.86

So setting the O/U at 10.  Feels like another, don't touch.  10-2 seems right.  Gun to my head, I'd take the over though, even knowing Franklin can't beat OSU, so you are asking him to be otherwise perfect.  I still would take 11-0 over 9-2 in the others, particularly because there is a slight chance he could beat OSU.

Feels like there are a lot of minefields in here.

UCLA was awful last year but remember that PSU only barely beat USC out west.  The road trip to LA coming off of a HUGE match-up with Oregon could be a hangover game.

Also the road trip to Iowa City isn't the week before Ohio State but it is the game before Ohio State.  Iowa is typically the type of team that this PSU team probably *SHOULD* beat but still good enough that they better not be looking ahead.  If they are, the Hawkeyes are good enough to take them out.  And how can you NOT look ahead?

Penn State has lost eight straight and 12 of 13 against the Buckeyes.

In the four weeks from October 18 through November 8 the Nittany Lions have @Iowa, @tOSU, vs IU.  I can't see them getting through that without a loss even if they do beat the Buckeyes in Columbus.

I predict they beat Ohio State but lose to Iowa and Oregon.

I think they get by OSU this year but drop one somewhere, so 11-1.

Ha!   I am stupidly buying the PSU hype this year.  Great returning roster, 3rd year starter at QB and a  pretty soft schedule.

Now to take a big sip of coffee and see who their coach is...

I don't see PSU beating the Ohio State.  The Buckeyes aren't losing more than two this year, and those losses are of course gonna occur at the hands of Texas and Michigan.
