Title: 2026 Recruiting Thread
Post by: Mdot21 on July 04, 2025, 05:13:34 PM
didn't see one on here so just thought I'd start one.

In what can only be labeled as a stunning late development, the #7 player overall in the nation and #2 OT according to the 247Composite- 5* OT Felix Ojo (6'6, 275) from Mansfield, Texas commits to Texas Tech over the perceived heavy favorite Texas Longhorns at the last minute.

It's being reported that he got an insane deal to go to Texas Tech, this is apparently the first fully-guaranteed rev share deal of it's kind so far. Ojo received a $5.1 million fully-guaranteed 3-year contract. This isn't straight NIL with incentives and possibility of earning millions like the alleged $10 million+ NIL deal last years #1 player overall Bryce Underwood got. This is a straight up rev share deal and fully guaranteed $5.1 million 3-year contract.

Call me crazy but Texas Tech is nuts to spend that on a HS OL.

USC has the #1 class but they have thirty one commits and the only other team close to that in the top 10 is Georgia with 27. And I'd take Georgia's class over USC's full-stop in a second. And Georgia probably isn't done either.

I really don't get kids signing up to play for Lincoln Riley. Have they not seen the last 3 years at USC?

I mean just because his name is Boobie Feaster, they should he #1 if he were their only commit

Detroit Lions 2nd round pick rookie OL Tate Ratledge who was an All-SEC & All-American guard national championship winner signed a 4-year, $7.5 million rookie deal. Texas Tech just fully-guaranteed a 17-18 year old HS kid $5.1 million over 3 years. Doesn't even make sense. Guaranteeing him 2nd round NFL draft pick money and he hasn't done a thing. Laundry list of HS 5* OL busts is long.

Yeah I think part of that, is Tech just wanting to be able to say they beat Texas in a recruiting battle.  And indeed they did.  He's a good prospect for sure but there's no way Texas was going to match that kind of offer for an incoming freshman, while still having to maintain its NIL and revshare budget for the entire recruiting class plus retention of everyone already on the roster.
