Title: Nico
Post by: ATexasVol on April 11, 2025, 09:51:19 PM
I always figured that something would happen to cause me to turn off college football for good.  If this is how it's going to be from now on, I'm done.  I've enjoyed the game and have great memories, but I'm done.

By my reckoning..... lawyers agents and other flavors of middlemen... as soon as that vent opened they promptly renovated it into a hanger door...

Middlemen screw everything up.  Parasites... opportunivors... feeding off others efforts... the wealthiest amongst us? Middlemen.

Im willing to lay money down this isn't nico; it's his agent... amd not his dad the agent but someone advising his dad... I further wager nicos contract denies him the opportunity to either stand against this effort or speak only it publicly, and as far as to not participate in organized activities while negotiations are ongoing.

Much of this is the case ……but there’s always the opportunity to tell someone to fuck off and neither Nico nor his dad chose to do so they played their hand with Tennessee we’ll have to see how it plays out

Iamaleava’s QBR for 2024 was 35th overall.  Indicates we overpaid already.  If you use the RAW ranking (take out the quality of the opposing defense) he ranks 55th. Why make a bad decision worse?

He's an idiot.
There is only so much money.
How about taking the demanded pay increase and spend it on receivers who can get separation running routes and linemen that will give him 1-3 seconds more time to make reads and execute throws?
More wins, higher completion rate, lower interceptions would set him up to be drafted much higher.
But no.  He wants all that he can get and and wants it right now.
Spoke with someone who is familiar with the situation and says that there is a high chance that UT is already assessing potential QB's in the portal so as to get a solid replacement.  McIntyre too young and skinny.  That leaves Merklinger.
This is the crap that is turning me off the game.  Pretty soon I will only be watching High School games and Ivy League games....

Reading Coach informed the team this morning that they are moving forward without him (Nico).

Tennessee obviously needs to buy better receivers like OSU seems to do. That'll make any QB look better.

I can't blame him. If he doesn’t get his payday now, I'm not sold on the fact that he'll be a high level player in the NFL. If he starts using his feet more it increases the likelihood of concussion issues which will plague his career.

A couple of high school coaches who have watch spring practice said that Merklinger performs better than Nico once the play is underway. He just needs experience. They are looking in the portal, because they need to have three QB’s on the team. Several QB’s are interested. A direct quote: “Nico seems to have an incredible play, and then one that leaves everyone scratching their head.”

The multiple portal windows is killing college football. I will watch the games, but this is our last year for season tickets.

Is it just genetics?  Article on Madden Iamaleava

Yes, But

Despite the promising comparisons, there are concerns regarding Iamaleava's play recognition and overall understanding of the offense, which could hinder his immediate playing time.”
