The SEC is owning college basketball now. That's about all I know.
When's spring practice?!?
-
Yeesh.
The only thought I have about our basketball team is "When does baseball start, and will that be better?"
(Now, and almost certainly so, are the answers)
When did Auburn get so good at the round-ball thing?
-
Yeah the one sport where I thought Texas might be moving into a downgraded league, was basketball. No slight to SEC basketball but the New B12 looked to be a VERY good basketball conference.
And yet, here were are.
-
Cheer up, the UT wiminz bball team just beat ours, and our wiminz bball team is pretty good.
-
The Texas men will likely do enough to make the tourney, maybe win a game as the 9 or 10, then get obliterated by whatever 2 or 1 they face.
It is known.
-
I mean, ultimately I don't really care all that much about basketball, so it doesn't affect me in any way. I always root for Texas teams to win any games they play, of course, but basketball is very far down my priority list. Football, baseball, volleyball, all rank well above basketball for me.

I'm kinda that way, but I also grew up in the era when Shaq, Stanley Roberts, and Chris Jackson were all at LSU together, and it was a big deal around BR. Probably the state.
Jeez.....I love Dale Brown, but he should probably be strung from a ceiling somewhere for not winning a title with those teams. He was the master at getting the most bang for his buck from under-talented teams, and also derping away incredibly talented teams.

I think that's fairly typical. The attitude and skills required to manage the superior talents and associated egos of super-stars, don't seem to align all that closely to those necessary for wrangling less talented players into an over-achieving group that is more than the sum of its parts. I don't know of many examples of coaches that were successful at both.

idk if i've ever seen a league as dominant as the sec's been this yr in hoops. a lot of legends have retired recently from other leagues creating a bit of a vacuum. & you have football schools in alabama making banger hires. it's not really fair but at this point if auburn doesn't win it all i'd be disappointed from their perspective.
as for the big 12 it's a little circumstantial - self is probably still impacted by his recent health issues. baylor's a little down. still a good league obviously. the real story is how atrocious the acc is.
-
Welp, the SEC final 4 is chalk.
-
Auburn gets the overall #1 seed despite finishing 1-3 in their last 4 games and h2h losses vs Duke and Florida.
Life's fun when you aren't held accountable.
-
Eh, it's only basketball. Not really worth getting worked up over.

Here, I think, you have to use the median as a league descriptor. If you use the mean, LSU was so bad that it still drags this conference down into the basement.

they also have ooc wins vs houston, iowa st, memphis, purdue & won the toughest league. i assume that's why the end was ignored by the committee. seems they've also largely ignored the various league tourney results for awhile now.

This is 100% fact.

Everyone's rooting on the Gators to beat Auburn, right?!?
-
I wouldn't say I ever "root" for Florida, but I certainly root against Auburn :)
-
didn't care about the au game outcome but i was for them last night. spent most of that game thinking houston was going to win & fla just gutted it out.
-
Congrats to our resident Gator fan! Not sure how much you care about basketball, but if you do, maybe just declare it a holiday and call in sick :)
-
I don't care much, but it's always good to get a natty!! And to do it where the opponent dictated the pace and our best player not scoring in the first half....to still win. Damn! It's awesome!!!!
Florida will always be football first, but to have more basketball NCs in the last 20 years than Kansas or UNC or Duke or Villanova or especially Kentucky....it's hilarious.
But the baseball team needs to figure shit out!

He's so good, and his Texas takes are usually spot-on.
-
Yeah, I laughed out loud when UT Basketball said "Can we do that?" and UT Football answered "Ooh I don't know, lemme just see in my checkbook....yeah, it still says TEXAS."
-
Oh, congrats to UF for their natty in ... basketball, men's I think.
I was out for a bit.
