UNL a 2.5 point favorite at the open.
-
For the final time at Memorial Stadium in 2024, Nebraska football is listed as an early betting favorite for Saturday's matchup against Wisconsin.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers opened as 1 1/2 point-favorites late Saturday night in early sports betting lines. The line then adjusted to a one-point advantage for the Cornhuskers as of Sunday morning, with sports bettors giving the Badgers more attention following both teams losing on Saturday.
-
Two teams that are decidedly not happy about where they are.
-
and for good reason, they are both not good

And winning this is how you climb to the bottom rung of mediocre!

Don't expect pretty
-
gonna be ugly

ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) always predicts the outcome of each college football game. With 12 weeks already behind us, the model has now released updated predictions for Week 13.
FPI sees the Wisconsin-Nebraska matchup as one of the closest of the weekend. Both teams enter the game at 5-5 overall, meaning the winner secures bowl eligibility. The model sees the Badgers as a slight favorite, giving the team a 53.4% chance to win the matchup. This means the Cornhuskers have a 46.6% chance, essentially meaning this game is a coin flip.

I've got an idea - let's just play the game without any refs except to referee any brawls that may break out. It can't be much worse than the results we are getting week in and week out of so many missed / wrong calls - an apology from the conference on Monday doesn't mean squat to a team that lost on Saturday - they still have a loss. And right now, Nebraska for sure isn't good enough to overcome those mistakes. And as frustrating as that is for a fan to watch, I can just imagine how frustrating it is for players who are trying their best and are coming up short due to bad calls (even as they thank their lucky stars that some of their mistakes aren't caught). I really don't believe that the refs are "out to get us" but a level playing field sure seems to in short supply and some calls are so blatantly wrong that even my six year old grandson was commenting on it and he's not even a sports fan~!
Ok, rant over --and GBR!!

Winner gets to be Big Red for the next year!

It might resemble Australian Rules Football ....
-
there ought to be a scoring system for teams of officials and individuals (I think there is one -maybe in the NFL)
the worst performing according to those grades should be let go at the end of the season
-
Wisconsin not having an offensive coordinator should make Nebraska fans happy. Curiously, it also makes Wisconsin fans happy.
This game does feel very much like a toss-up.

They haven't had one in many years, especially since 2022.
-
fans clamor for one of two things or both when losing.........
Start the backup QB and/or fire the O-coordinator
lucky for the defense, fans don't know shit about defensive play calls besides blitz or no blitz
and the linebacker or safety that has the green dot and calls the plays in the huddle isn't held accountable

Unluckily for Wisconsin fans, they have both, apparently.
The only thing UW has going for it now is that there is no film on what the offense will/won't do.
-
yup, the Huskers had that going for them after 2 weeks with Dana going into USC
the offense scored 10 points
-
Nebraska 24, Wisconsin 23
-
I'll take it
-
I'm not sure either team is going to get to 20.
-
agreed 20-17
the team with the defensive score gets to 20 and the win
Blackshirts scored 10 last weekend in LA and the team got to 20
-
Blackshirts kicked a FG? Really putting a lot on their plate
-
fumble recovery at the trojan 16 yard line
offense went 3 and out
__________
I guess we could say the defense scored 6, the offense scored 6, and the kicking team scored 8

“Just picking his brain (about) what they did to stop him,” Raiola said, days after Wisconsin opened eyes with a great defensive effort.
-
Badgers are in BIG trouble now
-
Why?
Is Gabriel gonna suit up for UNL during his idle week?
-
yes, disguised as Raiola
-
So the Reds are knocking heads,
If the Bastages win FF owes 847 a Chianti Classico, pan seared Ahi,wagyu tenderloin,Lobster/Corn Bisque & parsnip puree
if the 'Skers prevail 847 owes FF a Bud Fat, a spam sandwich, pork rinds on butcher wrap with Himalayan rabbit stew for supper - found himalayin on the road and TV dinner tater tots

That's not too far off what we had at my old house for 847 and some of our board mates. More of a crab chowder (w corn), come to think of it, didn't we have rack of lamb and filet of beef, and then the smoked oysters. it was bountiful. Probably not gonna see this game this weekend, definitely don't want any part of that meal if Nebraska wins.

I'd gladly choke that down
-
the question is.......... who's calling plays?
do they have experience?
-
Nate Letton will call plays from the booth.
Coordination and game planning will be him and Kenny Guiton. Guiton will signal plays.
-
Nate doesn't seem to have experience as a play caller
I've heard from guys that have called plays, it's tougher than it looks
Wonders if Fickell will have a lot of input?
Probably not, defensive guy
-
He will certainly have input.
You're going to see something really different on Saturday.

Sublime - I'd eat too just didn't want to be the 1st to admit it

that would seem odd & risky to me
but, could really throw off the blackshirts
-
What they were doing was not working.
Insanity is to keep doing it.
-
agreed
Dana came in 2 1/2 weeks ago, but didn't do something really different at USC and probably won't vs the Badgers
of course, maybe doing something REALLY different would have produced more than 10 points in LA
-

Neither of these are surprising to me.

I say that with all the respect in the world to you, if that particular axiom was worth a jar of piss, people would acknowledge its meaninglessness and stop using it.
That’s not even a commentary on the choice.
-
I really hope UW wins and the game flow isn’t horrible.
This is the last game of the year that I know I will get to watch at the bar. I go to games with the local alumni Association. There’s a certain ritual of meal/drink/camaraderie that comes with those, and if I can have a good afternoon, I would like it very much.
-
Fickell has Smooth Jazz signalling in the plays?
-

I'd rather read that than a critique on what insanity is.
-

Interim OC at Arky last season. Makes sense.
-
He once set the OSU TD record in a game where he only played the first half.
The record still stands, though Haskins tied it twice against stiffer compitition.
-
I'd rather read that than a critique on what insanity is.
It’s a critique on a message board trope that’s annoying.
And the choice is fine. It seems to come from a deep well of enmity and a break that they just can’t work together. I also think is the offense is good, it weirdly makes it hard to read the effectiveness of the choice. Just because I can’t get our read on if showing against the Nebraska defense shows me much.
-
I think we are going to see some Wildcat on Saturday. They certainly have the weapons for it.
Definitely going to see the huddle.
QB's and WR's are in the meeting room together this week, for the first time in 2 years.
It's gonna be different.
-
>:D
I hope it's awful

Haven't seen an injury report, but Wisconsin needs S Hunter Wohler to play this weekend. Left the Oregon game with a neck or head injury and never returned.

If Wisconsin wants to go to the single wing, I wouldn’t say no
I also need to look at some of the numbers about how good Nebraska’s defense is. Offense had moments Against some bad teams and bad moments against some very good teams. If they could have a nice day and a win, I would take that.
-
Huskers defense has been solid, not dominating
If the Huskers could come out jacked up and play like they did vs Colorado, they win this game
Unfortunately, the Buffy game was a LOOng time ago and it's tough to hate Fickell and Locke as much as Deion and Schredder
-
Don't forget Sapp.

It’s been a while since a quarterback made a big splash in this series. With the exception of Russell Wilson in 2011 (287 total yards, two touchdown passes and one touchdown run), Taylor Martinez in 2012 (288 total yards, two touchdown passes and one touchdown run), and Joel Stave in 2015 (322 passing yards and a touchdown, while throwing 50 passes, which seemingly were about half of the total he threw in his entire college career), quarterbacks have not starred for the winning team.

Not having Pauling and Wohler is a huge break for UNL.

UNL will take a break or two and not apologize
-
Matt Rhule says OL coach Donovan Raiola called his brief interaction with a Luke Fickell security officer "no big deal." Officer grabbed Raiola's arm after some sort of verbal chat between Raiola and Fickell.
-
Congratulations to Nebraska's wideout Jacory Barney on being named the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week for his performance in the victory over Wisconsin. Barney set career highs with nine catches for 85 yards, rushed for 11 and generated 54 on kickoff returns. 👀 💪

This game is a good example of a day I was happy to be traveling, and arriving at a home without the Big Ten Network. Good grief.
