Congrats! Often, the best team doesn't win in such a playoff, I think they did this time.

2nd in HR’s in NCAA baseball history with 180 plus
1st NCAA team to have 5 players hit 20 plus HR’s
1st SEC team to win 60 games in a season
1st #1 team to win it all since 1999
1st time the lead off batter has hit a HR in the championship game in many many years (can’t recall the last time, but it’s rare).
This team was one of the best college baseball teams in history.

1st SEC team to win 60 games in a season
1st #1 team to win it all since 1999
1st time the lead off batter has hit a HR in the championship game in many many years (can’t recall the last time, but it’s rare).
This team was one of the best college baseball teams in history.
We lost 26 or so batting innings due to run ruling people

I turned to my wife, late in the 8th: "we're gonna lose..."
"Shut up!" she replies. "We are are NOT. You are SO weird..."
I literally had to walk outside during Florida's last possession in 2022. Couldn't watch. To have defeat, snatched from the jaws of victory... I paced. I fretted. I woulda smoked a cigarette, if I'd had one...
Finally, the wife pops out of the patio door. With a thumbs up.
Went in, rw'd -- and got to enjoy the end of the game, ALMOST stress free. ( ^ ;
Later, we watched almost the whole Bama game together. A first. She used to leave the house on football Saturdays. Shopping. Another man... whatever (LOL). ESPECIALLY Bama games (pre our 9 out of 10 run).
The poor wives of us BVS Vol fans...
When the kick died over the cross bar, clearing it by inches...
Happiness. I told her "the streak is your fault. If you'd watched some of the earlier games..."
She really likes baseball. We used to watch the Bravos together. Until '94 -- the strike. If those millionaires can't it figure out -- screw 'em. Hell no, I ain't forgot.
So,naturally, after the last pitch, I turn to her: "see, I TOLD ya we were gonna win..."

We were hiking in the Smokies one year when the Vols beat Bama and so we didn't see the game. I think it was 94. So obviously us NOT watching was good luck, so we decided to tape (when that was a thing) the Bama game every year and only watch if they won.
I remember driving out of Alabama and into Tennessee watching people in their yards for signs that TN either lost or won. That worked for about 8 years. Hard to argue with results.

If you watched his press conference after the game and heard what he said, he’s trash. The way he down played the reporters question about the Texas job and then leaves, he’s got the be a Biden supporter. Zero integrity.

We were hiking in the Smokies one year when the Vols beat Bama and so we didn't see the game. I think it was 94. So obviously us NOT watching was good luck, so we decided to tape (when that was a thing) the Bama game every year and only watch if they won.
It couldn't have been '94. That was Peyt's first year. We lost a close, low-scoring game, as I recall (checked -- 17-13). Peyt didn't start, but played. I saw his first start, at Neyland. Washington St. 10-9 W, as I recall (which, it turns out, was BEFORE the Bama game. Weird. I woulda SWORN it was after. It seems like it was cold at that game...).
We got our first win against the Tide in 9 years in '95, in Birmingham. Peyt to Joey Kent -- 80 yd TD, play one.
Btw -- how great was it to see Peyton, Josh, and Rick in a box together at the game last night?

In '90, they blocked our game-winning FG attempt. The ball bounced 30 or 40 yards backward. It was their longest play of the year to that point. They lined up, and kicked THEIR gw FG as time expired. 6-3, or 9-6...I just threw up in my mouth a little, typing that.
IN '93, my wife and I were in Myrtle Beach for her conference. We're up, 17-9, with about two left. That damn David Palmer just sliced and diced his way down the field. TD. Two-point conversion. I've never experienced a tie that felt more like a loss.
I understand the "don't watch the game" thing. I quit watching, almost altogether, during the end of Butch and Pruitt. Just bad football.

Came on here to check first pitch time: 2:00p!
Went to another site that does inning-by-inning recaps (but, oddly, not comments -- without jumping through a bunch of hoops. There's NO chat there)--
4-1. Bottom of the 9th.
Turn on the TV to see if it's still going...
No outs. No one on.
While I'm watching, they put a man on 1st and 2nd. Tying run at the plate. I tell my wife "I oughtta turn it off. It's their only chance to win...". But I was feeling ornery. "Dammit -- I'm gonna PROVE that I control the outcome of these games..." and kept watching.
Which was very satisfying. And sanity-preserving. ( ^ ;
