Love Chancellor Plowman. She's kicking ass and taking names.
Shes essentially saying if you pursue this we'll sue the NCAA out of existence.
The NCAA is trying to penalize UT for infractions that weren't even in place when UT " supposedly" committed them.

That's what I call a takedown.

You love to see it.  GBO

Man, I'd love to see that happen.  Just not by us.
I hope her letter is a successful "back off, jack."
I smell a rat here.
We're steadily becoming a threat.  This NIL, much as I HATE it, is a way for us to compete with Bama and Georgia, who haven't needed it like we have.
Gee, you don't think that...?

Wow.  That was well-written, forceful, and clear as a bell.  Thanks for sharing.

What I like about the letter that is just killer against the NCAA is she quoted back the NCAA’s own president’s words that he gave in a congressional hearing.

She sounds pissed.  I like our chances of a good outcome and an embarrassment for the NCAA.

Now since little Nicky couldn’t handle NIL and quit who do you think turned us in?  My bet is Georgia and Kirby.

And did the last kid QB that signed with us (a five star who may even end up being better than Nico. I am not going to try and spell his name because I would have to look it up and I am being lazy tonight) play a part in someone telling on us because they are getting scared of Tennessee being the power it was in the 90’s?

The reason I think Georgia is because now the allegations are FSU, Florida, and now Tennessee. Something is fishy about this mess. Even ole Paul said it stinks.

Whoever started this knew what they were doing.

On any level, it's a major distraction.  And a diversion, if not a drain, on resources.

Everybody's been just fine and dandy with the Big Orange locomotive stuck in low gear for 20 years.  When you're a program whose future is suddenly uncertain, and is bleeding 4 and 5 stars; or one whose been a playground bully for a few years, and sees a kid wearing Orange who's gearing up to give you a needed smackdown --

it's easy to see what the motivation is.  "This'll give 'em a hiccup."

I think it may have had an effect on last night's game.  A distraction.  "Did you hear...?"  "What's gonna happen...?"

Both the team and the fans seemed sort of out of it.

Several other power 5 schools will be announced that they are under investigation over the next few weeks.

I bet one is a Virginia school hence the fact Virginia joined Tennessee on the lawsuit.

The NCAA knows what they’re doing. It’s cruit’n time and NIL has changed the cruit’n game. The NCAA darlings Bama and Georgia have lost their grip on their picks because everyone can now pay for players and if you’re running up the hill at Bama and Georgia in the cruit’n game then you’ve got to be smacked back down as bottom dwellers. Now other teams can use this to talk trash about UT and it may work on a few weak minded ill-informed kids.

Seriously, when was the last time Georgia or Bama were investigated by the NCAA for recruiting violations? Where did Pruitt learn about handing out McDonalds bags full of cash? From his mentor, Nickie Satan. Bama and Georgia didn’t get to where they are by playing within the rules and the NCAA hasn’t caught them because they weren’t interested in looking.

Seems like the NCAA is over their skis on trying to make hay about NIL..

Tennessee football player Jackson Lampley files declaration in NCAA lawsuit over NIL (https://www.knoxnews.com/story/sports/college/university-of-tennessee/football/2024/02/01/tennessee-ncaa-investigation-nil-lawsuit-jackson-lampley-football-attorney-general/72438543007/)

"University of Tennessee football player Jackson Lampley filed a declaration in the state of Tennessee’s lawsuit against the NCAA on Thursday.

The six-page statement was filed by the attorney general in the Eastern District of Tennessee federal court. It summarizes Lampley's experience as a student-athlete and gives his readiness to testify in the lawsuit or an attached motion if called upon.

Lampley, a Nashville native and former Montgomery Bell Academy standout, is an offensive lineman for the Vols. His father, Brad Lampley, is an attorney in Nashville, and he played on the offensive line for the Vols in the mid-1990s.

Lampley has experience as an athlete who was recruited before NIL rules were in place and someone who has helped athletes navigate the NIL landscape since. It makes him an interesting potential witness for the lawsuit.

When making his decision on which school to play for, Lampley said he considered a host of things about each school: academic prestige, campus setting, proximity to home, relevance of the football team and how well they put players in the NFL draft, among others. Now, he said, athletes ask about those things, but first want to know about NIL.

“Almost every recruit I meet with asks first and foremost about NIL. But they also ask about all the same factors I considered in the pre-NIL world," Lampley said in the court filing. "Just like finances are a factor for every other college student's decision for where to enroll, how much weight a recruit puts on financial costs and opportunities ought to be up to them, as simply part of finding the right fit for a given athlete's circumstances.

“In my observation, NIL has become one of the top factors that current recruits consider when determining where to go to school.”

I am not unsympathetic to the NCAA's position.
I hate the NIL.   Transfer portal, playoffs -- the ruination of the unique mystique that was college football.
I'm glad we're taking the little weasels to the woodshed for coming after US.  Bastards.  They picked the wrong hound dog to mess with...

They say this could be the end of the NCAA.  Fitting.  CFB ended a while back.

It's called "progress" to the Biden-voting mentality.

Don't cry because it's over -- smile because it happened.  ( ^ ;

Meanwhile...

Georgia QBs reported purchase makes NCAA investigation into Nico Iamaleava NIL deal seem even more absurd (https://atozsports.com/nashville/georgia-ncaa-nico-iamaleavas-tennessee-vols-beck-nil/")

"Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck hasn't decided yet if he'll return to Athens for the 2024 season.
According a recent report from DawgNation, Beck is seeking a substantial amount of cash to return to Georgia for a fifth season.
Beck wants "upwards of $4 million" in NIL money to return to the Bulldogs in 2024, according to DawgNation (https://www.dawgnation.com/football/georgia-uga-carson-beck/OJ4QWZ5LKNHUJALAUUJ2ERP6PM/)."
