Crazy '08, how a cast of  cranks, rogues, boneless and magnates created the greatest year in baseball history.  By Cait Murphy.

Brilliant history not just the baseball.

The Courting of Marcus Dupree by Willie Morris is superb too,  old school recruiting,  race, college football.

Back to your thoughtful comment @ELA (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=55) in the mlb thread.

Ty Cobb, a Terrible Beauty by Charles leerhsen is the authoritative Cobb biography.  A scholar's dream.    Stump's smear job and later film is such a shame.
