Normally that would be real bad news
Not so much

I'm not sure I've seen a worse officiated game. Bama's OL frequently held and never got called for it. Is it any wonder we didn't get to Milroe? A&M sacked him 5 times and our pass rush is better than theirs, hands down.
The one that got me was when our LB clapped and the refs threw a flag. That's the first time I've ever seen that.

How do you hear a clap from a single person in the stadium>?

Simulating snap count is automatic penalty and everyone is in shotgun using the clap so our defense should know not to clap
But the hold on Baron on their long TD pass ….WTF !!!!!
and then Heupel going for it on 4th …..terrible decision , terrible play call . Alabama’s offense is not good so make them go 85-90 yds instead of 40

I didn't understand the play call at 4th and inches at all.
They needed to put in 340 lb Elijah Simmons at QB for the play with a quarterback sneak....
...or 320 lb. Omari Thomas.
We needed less than 1 yard on two separate 4th downs and didn't get it.
That said, I was convinced we had gotten a 1st down on the play before one of those 4th downs.
But give credit to Alabama's offensive line - not committing a single hold against our defensive line the entire game is pretty amazing...

I don't think we need a D-Lineman running the ball to get a yard.
How about going under center and sneaking it with your 6' 5" 245 lb QB ?
These shotgun formations in short yardage situations makes me insane. Butch ball nonsense.
-
Any big guy would do.
But not having QB Sneak in your playbook is insane, on that I totally agree.

Hypeul has soiled his pants several games this year.
He needs a shave and a clean set of drawers

The play calling is limited to what Milton can do that's the way the offense is called. He's probably never taken a snap under center, so he doesn't know how like many other things he's incapable of doing. Such as finding a wide-open TE in the end zone or hitting a fade route to an open receiver.
Then Heupel tries to sit on the score not to lose and Milton is not a come from behind QB.
Just My Opinion I think there is dissension in the ranks with players wanting someone else at QB knowing Milton is limited. That's why they looked so bad in the second half. If coach doesn't care and give them the best chance to win then why should they.
-
I have to say, Milton isn't all his fault.
The receivers have dropped a lot of passes this season. Keyton has dropped at least 2 wide open touchdown passes.
And the receivers aren't getting as much separation as last year's receiving corps did.
And I'm not as impressed with the play calling this year - new Offensive Coordinator isn't as good as last year's?

Exactly. Alex Golesh has already won as many games this year (and played Alabama as close as UT did) at South Florida than they won in the previous three years combined.
-
It all gets back to QB play and it isn't just over throwing or missing receivers. It isn't all arm strength either the QB has to be able to read the defense, scan the field to find open receivers, have a little touch on short passes, make the plays under pressure and other tangibles besides throwing a ball ninety miles an hour on a froze rope.
Even Alabama with all their talent is still not as good as they could be because of their QB situation.
If you don't think it isn't the QB take Tom Brady for example to see how the Patriots have faded into oblivion since he left.
Great quarterbacks make the entire offense look better, makes the plays when needed and opens up the entire offense so it isn't limited.

Heupel is doing a Fulmer the OC Joey Halzle is a good friend coached with him before as did Martinez the secondary coach. We saw what happened with that when Fulmer chose friendship over coaching ability.

I doubt Martinez is calling the plays. Hauple would not trust a first year OC to call plays for him. I think it's probably Hauple and he's calling plays for this years team like it was still last years team.

Have watched UT/Bama games for many years and when you go to Tuscaloosa you might as well adapt to never getting a decent call. Not sure if the refs are in the tank, intimidated by Saban or just incomeptant but it's happened too many times to be random.

TN had to have TDs instead of FGs in the first half. The ONLY way to overcome what was coming in the second half.
Too much at stake for Bama to lose. GA is not playoff certain with key injures. Saban was not concerned at the half.
The refs can control most any game. The timing of the calls or non-calls is key.

The phantom fair catch is also a head scratcher. Someone on another board posted the offical NCAA rules for a fair catch and there's no way in hell that was a fair catch. If that were the case, every kickoff this season would be a fair catch.

True. But I still think that Milton would look a lot better this year if Bru McCoy wasn't out with an injury and Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman were still starting at receiver.
-
Both White and Keaton made circus catches to help .Milton.
Donte "Im good just axed me " Thorton not so much

I know who Martinez is, he coaches' defensive backs which has been a weak point in the defense since Heupel became coach and hasn't improved much. He brought him from UCF which is the point I was making about friends over coaching ability.
If you look at Martinez resume' he's been on 14 different coaching staffs been at Tennessee twice and the secondary shows he hasn't improved since he was here first time. So that should tell any head coach if he was good assistant coach, he wouldn't have to keep his suitcase packed.
-
Who was head coach when Martinez was at UT in his first time.
I do remember that was the weak area back then
-
He has been trying to establish stability. Not only with payers but with staff as well. Something we have need but lacked for 2 damn decades
-
Stability comes from playing the people who gives the team the best chance of winning. Also from having a coaching staff who does the same not just because they're friends.
Everyone in the country can start a 5-star freshman QB except TN who uses any excuse that can be made up to play a 6-year senior who isn't any better now than when he was a freshman at Michigan.
Alabama won national championships with freshman quarterbacks.
The players know and what the fans are seeing. That's why you see what happens when the best isn't played, and assistant coaches are lacking in ability.
It's called lack of effort going through the motions.

He has been trying to establish stability. Not only with payers but with staff as well. (Something they even teach in Business 101 for businesses about need for stability in management staff) Something we have need but lacked for 2 damn decades. You might want to check on the coaches resume (https://utsports.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/willie-martinez/5157) before you whine to much, Granted it is not top line but it is not shabby and given the level of talent he has had to work with.
Bama did not use a Fresh QB that did not have the body to withstand hits from SEC players size and strength. Go look at film of when he was in and hit but non SEC caliber (size, strength and level of ability) players.
When you criticize Joe think about how well Hooker would have done without many of the pieces missing from last year. Granted he would have probably done better but I doubt hs stats would have been as stellar.
Since next years is going to be a lot of underclassman, I expect you will still show us your Monday morning non expertise.
