I just realized we have Friday night B1G football, so I am dutifully putting up a thread. It's been a week for me - my car got totaled, I have to find a new car, which is a sucky proposition in the current environment. Tomorrow, my wife is taking the fam to to Cedar Point, and I plan on not cooking, not cleaning, not moving, and not thinking. It will be video games and football all day long. In any event, give me your car recs.
Schedule
- Nebraska at Illinois, Friday, right now, FS1
- Maryland at #4 OSU, Saturday, noon, Fox
- Rutgers at Wisconsin, Noon, Peacock
- Howard at Northwestern, 3 pm, BTN
- Purdue at Iowa, 3:30, BTN
- #2 Michigan at Minnesota, 7:30, NBC
Others
- #12 Oklahoma at #3 Texas, Noon, ABC
- #23 LSU at #21 Mizzou, Noon, ESPN
- #13 Washington State at UCLA, 3 pm, Pac 12
- #11 Alabama at TAMU, 3:30, CBS
- Syracuse at #14 North Carolina, 3:30, ESPN
- #20 Kentucky at #1 Georgia, 7 pm, ESPN
- #10 Notre Dame at #25 Louisville, 7:37, ABC

Good news is your still here. 👍

No cooking for me, I'll be gorging at the Texas State Fair in Dallas all day tomorrow.
Unfortunately my daughter is marching at a football game tonight so we couldn't get on the road this morning like we normally would have. So we're leaving at about 3:30 AM to be at the RV parking lot by 7, and then into the Fair by 8.

You can watch the big Texas/OU game while you’re gorging I assume.

utee do you have tickets?
just wondering what they cost

Of course. It's right in the middle of the Fair. :)

Just grabbed a single in the Texas endzone for $300. The market is pretty crazy this year for obvious reasons.
-
amazing
-
Neb-Ill was gloriously awful.
Also, the worm turning on Bert has been something. Hard jobs stay hard, I suppose.
-
Dvrd Nebraska. Sounds like a wretched game. Nebraska has to feel good, a game they control on the road in conference and from sounds of it, played like ass and won by 13 as a 3 pt dog.
-
In 2018 we paid $250 per ticket to get into RRS. So worth it. Loved the 10am corny dogs.
-
Huskers snap a three game skid vs the Illini.
Black shirts are back!

I wish Purdue at Iowa was on BTN. Instead it's on Peacock, which I don't have.

Peacock is only $5.99 per month and you can cancel at any time.
I hate the fact The B1G did this . But it's still cheaper than going to a bar. Purdue got scheduled last week vs Illinois, today vs Iowa, and next week vs Ohio State all on Peacock. They did start streaming some games in 4K at least.

Jeesh, 3 weeks in a row? They should change the name from The Peacock network to the Purdue Network.
Well, at least you are getting the most out of that $5.99.
-
Good morning all.
I got Peacock so I could watch UW today.

Neb-Ill was gloriously awful.

I gotta think last year was the peak at Illinois.
I mean, the QB wasn't bad, he had a 1500 yard rusher, and the #1 scoring defense in the country.
If you can only go 8-5 with those things.....what's the plan to do better?
-
Of course. It's right in the middle of the Fair. :)

Corn dog futures.
-
I am hoping that the bar I usually go to for games has Peacock. If it doesn’t, then I’m gonna show up, immediately turn around, and try to decide if it’s worth signing up now to watch 3/4 of a Rutgers game.
-
Just call them at 11AM to find out.
-
I like going to a bar maybe once a year. Yeah, it'll cost $25 or so to watch a game, but it's kinda different fun, for me. Some of the larger bars will have groups of different fan bases sitting around and you hear them whoop or groan of course.
When will most games be on pay for view?

Most already are.
-
I guess many are, the Dawgs are on regular cable 11 games a year or so, usually. I guess we could consider ESPN as PPV.
-
Corn dogs >> Pronto pups
Speaking of corn dogs, Meijer sold giant food-shaped plush dog toys last Christmas. I got a giant corn dog for Izzo, the Resident Genius mascot.

Paging the Bama Banchee from Nashville...
-
I'm doing burgers and tater tots today. Lunch is leftover brats and a salad.
-
Hmm brats
-
I still have 3lbs of usingers in my freezer...but no more brat buns. Sad.
-
Assembling cinnamon rolls and lasagna before heading down to campus. No tailgating today.
And holy shit, Pat McAfee is unlistenable.
-
Crap. Treyvon Henderson out for OHio State today- no explanation.
-
sat at a sports bar in old market Omaha last night for the game with brother and Wingnut and a couple others.
some football fans were unsure why half of the big screens were showing volleyball
great atmosphere, decent beer on tap, $10 prime rib melt sammiches
the 4th quarter looked like an Iowa game (ugly)
-
headed to BWWs in a bit to start up the red river game
I had more than 8,000 rewards points so food is "free"
Brother is buying beer
-
We're going to the local "Farmer's Market" (they don't feature many farmers), then maybe to lunch at Alta Toro or somewhere. I found my "lucky" red UGA shirt so I'm feeling better about the game now. My wife somehow had it under a lot of other shirts. Bummer.
We leave Tuesday for two weeks in England/Scotland/Ireland, weather looks rainy.
-
Crap. Treyvon Henderson out for OHio State today- no explanation.
I've been thinking this will not be an easy game for OSU, and it just got harder.
-
Going to brother's up the road once he's done shopping with his wife at the Farmer's Market. Planning on watching Oklahoma-Texas and later Alabama-Texas A&M. Very foggy out here on the Pacific Coast.
-
I've been thinking this will not be an easy game for OSU, and it just got harder.
Agreed
-
$10 prime rib melt sammiches
Damn that sounds.......I'm slobbering here. Backed up by an Ice Cold Schooner 🍺 😎
-

We're doing smash burgers and tots as well, plus some cole slaw.
-
OU gets early pick and converts it into a TD. 7-0 OU.
-
Either a fake punt or botched snap that gave Maryland good field position, and great throw and catch gives Maryland the early 7-0 lead
-
3-0 Badgers.
-
I like these Maryland uniforms. It makes me nostalgic as a kid remembering Darryl Talley chasing around Boomer Esiason.
-
McCord is really struggling early. Looks afraid to throw, and has thrown two passes into the dirt to open guys
-
Texas has thrown 2 picks on its first 2 possessions. The second one ending a drive deep in OU territory.
-
Texas blocks a punt in the EZ and falls on it for a TD. 7-7. Wild start to the RRR.
-
McCord is really struggling early. Looks afraid to throw, and has thrown two passes into the dirt to open guys
Yes, their entire offense looks like they’re super lethargic for whatever reason
-
McCord is really struggling early. Looks afraid to throw, and has thrown two passes into the dirt to open guys
yeah it's a little shocking....Maryland has a pretty meh defense
-
3-0 Badgers at the end of one.
-
close call, don't think Prather had control....but Ransom on OSU was definitely committing PI with a handful of jersey.
-
They forgot to tell Maryland that September's over.
-
Upset Saturday?
-
Either a fake punt or botched snap that gave Maryland good field position, and great throw and catch gives Maryland the early 7-0 lead
4th and 2 at their own 33 my guess is it was a bad snap.
-
This is not an easy game to watch right now. Badgers driving, Allen fumbles on the Rutgers 3.
WTF
-
I can’t remember the last time I saw Ohio State look this slow and lethargic- especially on offense.
Terps are kicking their ass.
-
Well the defense bailed them out
-
Texas drops a pick in the EZ. Cost em a FG. 10-7 OU
-
Wisconsin's defense sucks at tackling.
-
Wisconsin's defense sucks at tackling.
But they are good at taking the ball away. Pick 6 for 97 yards.
UW 17, SUNJ 0 - at the half.
-
Texas eschews a makable FG to go for it on 4th and 2. Pays off with a TD pass. 14-10 Horns.
-
I can’t remember the last time I saw Ohio State look this slow and lethargic- especially on offense.
Just going to post that, don't know if hang over from ND,the bye or they spent 2 weeks reading their press clippings.
-
Just going to post that, don't know if hang over from ND,the bye or they spent 2 weeks reading their press clippings.
Defense looks good. Offense🤮
-
OU right back down the field. 17-14 OU.
-
Just going to post that, don't know if hang over from ND,the bye or they spent 2 weeks reading their press clippings.
It's also possible that the Terps are pretty good.
-
Mini Tua just screwed up the last possession for Maryland. He did one of the two things he couldn't do with 12 second left: throw in the middle.
10 all at half.
-
It's also possible that the Terps are pretty good.
Yeaaaaaaah buuuuuuuuut.....OSU is also sleep-walking.
-

He's made 2 terrible decisions, that are the difference between 13-3 Maryland and a 10-10 tie
-
20-17 OU at halftime. Good game.
-
He's made 2 terrible decisions, that are the difference between 13-3 Maryland and a 10-10 tie
he gets overhyped bc he’s Tua’s little brother. Kid kinda sucks imo.
-
Yeaaaaaaah buuuuuuuuut.....OSU is also sleep-walking.
Exactly. You can see it with your eyes. The Buckeye offense literally looks like they are asleep. No spark. Moving around slowly. No fire.
their defense actually looks good.
-

Ya I was wondering wtf,not like the OSU can strike deep and quick like previously

this Buckeye squad is taking on the Day's content, blase' attitude. This is his 5th yr and not seeing alot in the trenches.Certainly not depth wise
-
27-17 OU
-
Good to see Buckeyes made halftime adjustments ::)
-
Hey we got some offense
-
Ewers coughs it up. OU close to breaking this open.
-
Defense showing a bunch of energy, and gets another pick after chasing Taulia all over the place
-
TD Wisconsin.
24-6 Badgers.
-
Bar had the game. I guess I’m just gonna have to get used to disjointed but modestly successful Wisconsin football
-
Texas D holds after the turnover. Puts together a long drive that ends in a FG. 27-20 OU.
-
Bar had the game. I guess I’m just gonna have to get used to disjointed but modestly successful Wisconsin football
KO out of bounds. F'ing maddening.
-
Inept offense and great defense, I'm starting to remember why I liked the Buckeyes. Tress is smiling
-
Texas D holds on a 4th and 1. Texas takes over around midfield.
-
btw I hate this dos equis commercial so much I am delivering a one man boycott of dos equis
-
OU denies UT on 4 tries from the 1. Huge GL stand. Still 27-20.
-
When in doubt, throw the ball to Marv
-
Or Stove
-
btw I hate this dos equis commercial so much I am delivering a one man boycott of dos equis
It'd be funnier if there were 2 of you.
-
Inept offense and great defense, I'm starting to remember why I liked the Buckeyes. Tress is smiling
I'd make all the offensive players wear sweater vests until they had a 50-point game.
-
Nay
-
ABC must have told Fowler & Herbie that this Texas-OU game is the forever Super Bowl and everything is forever, forever. Ever.
Forced, bizarre narratives appeal to.....who?
-
OU misses a FG to keep it a one score game.
-
The ref must be related to Lou Holtz
-
Ou misses fg.
-
Texas ties it at 27 with 6:00 to play.
-
Oh my Chopper
-
btw I hate this dos equis commercial so much I am delivering a one man boycott of dos equis
Solidarity! Now there are two!
(What the hell are we talking about? I already don't buy Dos Equis...)

Lol they have a commercial about how everyone hating a guy who plays the ukulele around a campfire. Then they burn the ukulele.

Marvin's the goods
-
Fowler w a huge cowlick today.
-

Testify Bwarb Testify, mexican food is the shiznit, mexican beer - hard pass unless that's all in the cooler
-
Whew
Just switched to some game at some State Fair. Great game!
-
Poor Mizzou
-
30-27 Texas with 1:17 left
-
Big finish coming, OU already in field goal range
-
OMG
-
I thought for sure he was getting sacked and then he threw the ball away, but he didn't throw it away, he threw it to a wide open guy
-
Helluva.
-
Lol they have a commercial about how everyone hating a guy who plays the ukulele around a campfire. Then they burn the ukulele.
Ugh. Derivative.

RRS has been delicious.
-
that was an impressive second half of the 3rd qtr abs 4th qtr for OSU. Expected that for 60 mins but they woke up and put Maryland away despite not playing good in the first half. That’s what good teams do. Not play their best game and still win by 20.
-
Just grabbed a single in the Texas endzone for $300. The market is pretty crazy this year for obvious reasons.
I know that wasn't the result you wanted but you got to see a heck of a game!
-

That's what i was thinking and Dayum - Ruh-Ruh. great game(sorry utee).

3-3 Bama/A&M end of 1st Q in College Station.
Lot like watching last week’s Auburn Georgia game in that like Bowers for UGA, Trey Burton is so far Alabama’s one man show on Offense. Big downfield weapon.
Aggie blitz is working, DL is pushing back Bama’s OL, running game is snuff out, but all of that is offset by Burton’s big plays
-
Aggies look decent now up 17-10
-
Venables doing a good job in Norman after a tough 1st season. Prolly meet the Horns again but plenty of ball left to play
-
Iowa's defense literally can't even just do 95% of the work. Interception to hand the ball to the offense at the 5, and they go backwards and kick a FG.

Not sure who the other two teams are.

Chicago and....
-
We just walked into the Alumni Center pregame event. We single handedly brought the average age down 10 years.
-
So we're gonna pretend that there wasn't a second left at Kyle Field? Big xii ccg redux.
-
FSU has been fairly meh since a win over LSU that looks less impressive than when it occurred
FSU doesn’t have the OL or front 7 of an elite team imo.
Very dynamic at WR, have good RBs, and Jordan Travis is an experienced and good college QB but he’s very limited physically.
-
Bama quietly turning it around and with LSU teetering on dumpster fire especially on defense pretty sure that Bama just cleared their toughest hurdle left in the regular season by getting past A&M.
Bama should win the west pretty easily and then they will lose to UGA in the SECCG imo.
-
There are far more Michigan fans here than the last time they were here with people on the stands
-
nice fast start by UGA. Kentucky is vastly overrated imo and UGA is about to take them to the woodshed and give them an absolute beat down imo.
-

Yankees aren't in the playoffs, and the Patriots suck
-
Yankees aren't in the playoffs, and the Patriots suck
Are there a lot of Yankees/Mich and Pats/Mich fans?
I know Bill Burr is a big Michigan fan but that’s probably only because of Tom Brady.
-
Will Johnson is really good at football.
That’s a future top 5 pick in the nfl draft ladies and gents.
-

I know Bill Burr is a big Michigan fan but that’s probably only because of Tom Brady.
The Venn diagram is a circle.
They were Yankees/Giants fans until Brady. I used to see guys wearing Jumbo Elliott Giants jerseys to games in the early 90s regularly.
Michigan alums in NYC were a very significant voice in the Rutgers addition
-
Cornelius Johnson….gotta catch that bud. Little low but hit you in two hands for an easy 1st down on 3rd and short that would’ve set up a 1st and goal.
Roman Wilson has been so good this year, Johnson has been pretty bleh. Was expecting so much more from him in his senior season.
Donovan Edwards nowhere to be found yet. Seems to be the forgotten man this year. Idk wtf going on with him but it’s starting to be concerning.
-
Athan's first pass was a pick six. Every pass he's thrown a Michigan DL has gotten a hand on it.
This stadium is going to go nuts if the Gophers get a first down.
Yes it's gonna be that kind of night.
I'm very impressed by the student turnout. Packed to the top of the stadium.
Terrific weather. 51 degrees and no wind.

Forgot to mention. First chili Saturday of the season. At literally any point during the 5 hours, I can be taken away. The last step, I have to bring to a boil, then reduce. Naturally that where there is some sort of fight with the kids playing football in the backyard, and it boiled too long. It was 3/4 salvageable, but damnnit.

I like 95% of what Sherrone Moore does, but it feels like too much of his downfield stuff is with outside receivers, where you give the CBs the sideline as an extra defender
-

Moore is just not a good OC imo.
I’d prefer if he stayed an OL coach and they went out and got a real OC with a modern passing game.
-
if they aren’t going to play Edwards on offense why not let him return kickoffs and punts ?

Hah you wish. He’s already said he’s 100% going pro after this year.
-
17-3. Michigan has looked better on the road vs conference opponents than they have at home vs OOC cream puffs.
-
Yeah Jeem, let’s have some little slow white walk on named Thaw return punts and get absolutely nothing out of it when you could have a freak like Edwards returning them and potentially scoring TDs…
Jeem is a heckuva coach but the ‘tism/retardation/cte is strong in that one and it prevents him from being an elite coach.

Lots of NFL prospects don't. People thought Tucker was crazy for putting Jayden Reed back there, but Reed knew having that as part of his profile made him more draftable

What is this 2022?
-
Mike Sainistril got absolutely toasted on that play. He’s been having a down year compared to how good he was last year. But he has been playing through injury…
-
Also…on rewatch Keon Sabb blew that zone coverage help over top. Rod Moore not being right is biting them in the ass as well.
-

He's also not very physically gifted. He's smart and experienced, and never asked to guard the best WR, bc the best CB in the nation is on the opposite side. He always cheats inside. I don't get why more.teams.dont challenge him deep. I think UM has Johnson follow the best WR, so it seems like you could force that issue

he’s a slot nickel CB only, but for some reason he played outside on that play and he got absolutely smoked. dude is great in the slot but man he gets worked outside.
Michigan has been dealing with lot of injuries at CB, just got Will Johnson back a couple weeks ago and RS Frosh Amorion Walker and JaDen McBurrows both just got back as well. True frosh DJ Waller, Cam Calhoun, and Jyaire Hill have only played in garbage time- they haven’t given any of them a real
shot to beat out Josh Wallace who is pretty meh. They need another outside CB to step up ASAP. That’s probably the biggest weakness I see on that team right now.
-
Woodford time
-
Michigan entire offense just goes up another level when they incorporate JJ’s legs into it. He is 4.5 guy easy, can run away from defenders and is a physical runner to boot.
-
Maryland and the Dodgers losing. It's officially October

Does Carson Beck cut his own hair?

52 10

Even Harbaugh's awful COVID team, which would have gotten him fired, if not for ducking OSU, and taking a pay cut, won 49-24 in Minneapolis.
Michigan fans are still forever thankful for the 2014 Brady Hoke concussion disaster which was the final nail in his coffin though.

Woof

FND
-
So as a 5-2 independent in this era, NDs season is over. Yay college football
-
So where do Purdue fans sit on the Brohm vs. ND spectrum?
This would have been like MD leaving after 2011 for South Carolina, and then beat Michigan
-
These Miami uniforms are a special kind.of.awful
-
Yeah, the orange looks red and all my brain keeps thinking is Mexican baseball team.
And GT just committed a facemask penalty that ripped the dude's helmet off. Ouch.
-
I like how committed Miami has been to playing stupid football for 40 years, even though they've generally havent been talented enough to compensate for the past 30 of them

Hahahahaha

Oh my miami.

But yet, in the MOST Miami way possible. I like how Miami keeps finding the most Miami coach available. Even in nearly literally the farthest place from them, and yet he's so fully Miami.
He's your idiot friend in NCAA trying to add rushing yards for his Heisman campaign
-
Dumbest move since Kevin Steeles attempt for a statement win which led to a 99yd fumble return for a td
-
Arizona beating up on USC early 17-0. Lolwut?
USC will score 40+, win or lose.
-
Mario Cristobal. Have fun with that press conference.
-
Hopefully this is all an HR thing to get the Pac 12 refs out, and then the Pac 12 can reform
-
Mario Cristobal. Have fun with that press conference.
Just wear Dolphins gear. Or maybe an old LeBron jersey
-
Also, this makes.the Shutdown Fullcast a must listen
-
I'm going to be exhausted. Taking my kid to a pitching lesson at 8:30 tomorrow morning, because I stayed up watching two stupid pac-12 games, that won't exist next year. Because we are hell bent on eliminating these awesome stupid games
-
People all over Twitter posting a game from 2018 where Cristobal lost a game to Stanford in the same way.
-
So where do Purdue fans sit on the Brohm vs. ND spectrum?
This would have been like MD leaving after 2011 for South Carolina, and then beat Michigan
Was rooting for the meteor.
But given a choice, I care more about ND losing than Brohm. Brohm went back to his alma mater. It's a personal connection. So my unhappiness about him leaving pales in comparison to my undying hatred for ND.
-
Yeah, you can't complain if he goes back to his school.
-
USC's defense belongs in the WAC, circa 1991.
-
Another flawless CFB weekend
-
Another flawless CFB weekend
Agreed! Any CFB weekend we can get is flawless. Don’t get enough of them unfortunately.
-
USC will score 40+, win or lose.
Prophetic. Lol.
MAN is Caleb Williams good, but USC ain’t a real competitor for the playoff with that defense…
-
If USC makes the playoffs, they could be a dangerous 3 seed and might win round one.

I was just thinking about last night's flogging, and how the Minnesota program fits within the greater landscape of college football. I realize that the Wolverines are thinking national championship or bust, but I don't think the Gopher program has been so utterly outclassed since I've been paying attention. I've witnessed the Gophers get eviscerated more than once, but this was different.
There was ZERO excitement on campus or in the New Brickhouse last night. NONE. It was as if everyone was going in to watch a public execution. I wasn't even angry leaving last night. Maybe it's the wisdom of age, but I really don't know where to go from here.
College football has stratified to where only a small handful of programs have the NIL payroll to compete for titles. Minnesota isn't one of them, nor is it even on the radar. Any NIL money of consequence in this market is going to be the 3rd sub-under-assistant East Western sponsor of the Vikings. Even at SC, you see Caleb Williams staying in because he's taking a pay cut to go to the NFL. That's a problem for the NFL that no one seems to be talking about, but that's a different discussion.

I've never seen a coach not take a knee at the end of a game when it's clearly in hand. I can recall way in the past a fumble when taking a knee, but it's very rare.
There is no reason whatsoever to run the ball when the game is over.
-
Surely I'm not the only one who thought of this game

Or Wisconsin calling a handoff for Dayne vs Northwestern. Dayne was not expecting the ball. Northwestern recovered and pulled out a score and won.

One of the worst live experiences I've ever witnessed.
-
I just saw GaTech is 2-1 in conference (3-3 overall). It's kinda funny.

Who deserves the Golden Douche Nozzle/Dip Shit Award for CFB Coaches in the '23 Season - Mario Cristobal or Mel Tucker? Perhaps there are some other rare gems out there just waiting to present themselves :-[
-
I know that wasn't the result you wanted but you got to see a heck of a game!
Thanks. It was something, that's for sure.
Losing always sucks, but Texas played a pretty horrible game with multiple self-inflicted head wounds, and OU played about as perfectly as they could. I really like our chances in a rematch, should we get there. And looking at the rest of the B12 this season, I think it's pretty likely to be a TX-OU rematch.

This is weird:
Iowa is 130 of 131 in YPG.
Iowa has scored more points per game than: Minnesota, Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois, and Nebraska.
-
Not so weird when one of those teams is 126/131 in turnover margin.
Another is 127th and another is 114th.
-
This was delicious...
Apologies to utee for the prominent display of pickles.

Kirk Ferentz has openly stated this. He considers total offensive yards one of the most over-rated stats in football.
Remember yards don't matter. The only thing that matters is do you end the game with more points than the other team. That is unless your AD puts a clause in your OC's contract that you need to score at least 25 points per game.

Evidently a few of the 'Cane players weren't on board with Mario's move

well, the AD is addressing points and not yards
