The polls are funny. But not important.
This past weekend we had 9 games where a P5 team played another P5 team on the road. (technically UNC/USC and LSU/FSU were neutral site games)
So here are the results from worst result to best in terms of win margin
UVA lost to Tenn by 36 = 49-13
WVU lost to PSU by 23 = 38-15
Clemson lost to Duke by 21 = 28-7
NW lost to Rutgers by 17 = 24-7
Florida lost to Utah by 13 = 24-11
Neb lost to Minn by 3 = 13-10
Col beat TCU by 3 = 45-42
Louis beat Ga Tech by 5 = 39-34
OSU beat Ind by 20 = 23-3
That's a 3-6 record for the road team
Average points scored by road team 18.9, heavily skewed by the Col and Louis games, otherwise the other 7 were only 12.2
Average pts for home team = 28.3, heavily skewed by the OSU game, otherwise it was 31.5
Just food for thought when thinking about say how OSU did vs other "somewhat similar" match ups.
Everyone overreacts to the first week. Media and fans.
