Colorado debuts in the newest AP poll at #22 and are now a 3.5 point favorite. I think they cover that and win by double digits.
I'll say Colorado 31-21.

Also possible that Colorado comes in a disorganized mess after reading how great they are all week. Not saying that WILL happen, just the Coach Prime needs to be careful to avoid it.

Yep, I think Wisconsin will win.

yeah that is definitely going to be the concern for Colorado, how the coaches will manage the emotions of 18-22 year olds coming off a HUGE win on the road vs a ranked team which let's face it- no one gave them a chance in- they were 21 point dogs to Vegas and everyone in the national sports media was picking against them.
I think the fact that it's their home opener in front of their fans- that atmosphere is going to be electric and I don't see them having a let down in that environment. Plus that coaching staff is very experienced, Deion seems to have that team locked in and they have an experienced high level QB and leader in Shedeur.
I just don't see Nebraska having enough offense to keep up, Jeff Sims will make some big mistakes that will cost Nebraska and Shedeur will be efficient and surgical for Colorado.
-

don't see it. they just don't have the offense to keep pace with what Colorado has at QB/WR and Jeff Sims is just as likely if not more likely to make big plays for the other team as he is for his own team.

10 am kick. That's Prime Time....in Russia.

have you been to boulder?
-
I was in Boulder for the first 11am start there since the Big 8. The crowd was large and boisterous, and the Gophers promptly took the starch out of them and never let them back in.

Wouldn't be the 1st time there was a big emotional let down.But it's in Boulder just hope it's another close one like last week. Be nice if someone practices some D tho
-
It'll be an interesting contrast in re-building techniques for 1st year coaches. If Deon wasn't such of a one-of-a-kind phenomenon, I'd say it has the potential to change the sport. Don't think the Huskers can win a shoot out with the Buffs.
Nebraska 24
Colorado 52
-
42-20 UC wins.
-
Colorado coach Deion Sanders says he’s learned “the serious nature of this rivalry, and I’m embracing it 100%. This is personal. That’s the message of the week.”
-
If the Cornhuskers want another piece of Boulder after 2024, CU Buffs athletic director Rick George is game for a rematch.
“I would be very open to having a home-and-home (series) with Nebraska in the future,” George told The Denver Post recently when asked about future matchups with the Cornhuskers after the current four-game contract expires next fall.
CU is 2-0 over the first half of the series, winning 33-28 at Lincoln in September 2018 and rallying for a 34-31 victory in overtime at Folsom Field a year later. The Buffs host Nebraska at 10 a.m. Saturday and visit Memorial Stadium to complete the contract on Sept. 7, 2024.
Assuming CU’s previously-scheduled games with future Big 12 opponents are vacated, it would give the Buffs and Huskers matching open dates several times over the next 10 seasons.

I think we'll see an emotional letdown this week from Colorado and Nebraska cleans up the turnovers to pull a minor upset, 28-21.

if Nebraska goes on the road and beats Colorado I'd actually consider that a major upset.
They can't just "clean up the turnovers" either. What you saw vs Minnesota....that is who Jeff Sims is and has always been. He's a career 57% completion guy who basically throws just as many INT's as he does TD's- 31 TDs vs 26 INTs. He's not good.
In 2020 he started in 10 games. He threw an interception in 8 of those games. In 2021 he started in 7 games. He threw an interception in 5 of those games. In 2022 he started in 6 games, he threw an interception in 3 of those games. He's started one game in 2023 and he's already thrown 3 interceptions. 70% of the games he's started in- he's thrown interceptions. It's just what he does. There is no "cleaning" that up. Only way to clean that up is to not let him throw the ball. And as bad as Colorado's defense is, Sims will give them plentiful opportunities for INTs, and any offense that is one dimensional becomes so much easier to defend.

favored by 3 points would be a minor vegas upset

I hear ya. I'll probably be wrong about this game, so doesn't matter.
As far as the worldwide leader goes....ESPN's match-up predictors, play-off predictors, FPI are absolutely and completely utterly worthless. and not only are they that- but how ESPN comes up with all that is secret. they won't tell you how they came to those conclusions. and they are secret because if ESPN explained how they came up with that bullshit they pull straight out of their asshole- the very few people who follow sports who still actually watch/listen take ESPN seriously- would stop.

I would like to see Nebraska uphold the Big Ten's honor, but Nebraska would have to clean-up the turnovers, which Nebraska has been unable to do the past 4-5 years.
I am interested in seeing whether Nebraska can slow down the Colorado offense.
-
Let's see how Rhule plays this. From the looks of things, Colorado's weakness is their front 7. They gave up 262 rushing yards to TCU, and Nebraska just ran for 181 against a much better Minnesota front. I think Nebraska can take advantage of the new clock rules to bleed the clock and win the time of possession here. Sims doesn't have to pass a lot, just needs to limit the turnovers. Nebraska really killed themselves with 4 turnovers against Minnesota, and we'd probably view them a lot differently if they had managed to win that game.
On the other side of the ball, I think Colorado will move the ball, but I think they'll be less focused this week and be a little sloppy. Emotional highs like this are hard for college kids to handle. They'll probably outgain Nebraska, but I think they'll also turn it over a few times.

More like last 15 -20 years. Their turnover margin is preposterously poor
-
I think Rhule plays Big Ten West football here
runs the ball, runs the clock, limits CU possessions
might get beat, but doesn't want 500 yards of passing defense and 50 CU points on the board

A Denver scribe declares victory in Colorado’s “keep the red out” campaign even though the stadium is expected to be 40% occupied by Nebraska fans.

Sims is a talented athlete. Hopefully Matt Ruhle sticks with Sims through Black Friday. I would love to see him play against the Hawkeyes.

LOL with the way Iowa scores on D....if they play vs Sims they are getting 3-4 defensive TDs minimum.

not cool dude. not cool. deion had life threatening condition, almost died.
i told ya Rhule was a scrub and that Nebraska AD f'd up royally not going all in on trying to hire Deion. Nebraska had the one shot they had to get back on the mountain top and go all-in on Deion. They blew it and hired some schlub that was an epic failure and disaster in the NFL and whose claim to fame is oh he had a couple good seasons at Temple. Gtfo maaaaan.

Deon a bad fit in Lincoln
was never gonna happen
maybe Rhule isn't the guy, but neither was Deon

why isn't he a fit? insane out of control boosters? AD with a giant ego?
seems like Deion is the type who sucks up all the oxygen in the room. which means the insane boosters have to just pound sand and fck off and the AD does as well. it's coach primes show, and coach primes show alone. honestly....that is how it should be.
Useless idiot AD's with giant egos and insane out of control boosters have wrecked many a college football program.

they are about to murder Colorado State and be 3-0. this is a team that went 1-11 and lost there games by an average of 30 points per game last year. he'll have already tripled the amount of wins they got last year. everybody better get their shots in now, because this will be the weakest team he has at Colorado. they lack the top end front 7 talent and big uglies on the OL.... but that isn't going to be the case going forward, he'll recruit more of those and portal them in.
Look at their remaining schedule after they start off 3-0...
@Oregon - they're losing this game
USC - USC is going to score 70 on them, but probably give up 60
@Arizona State - likely W
Stanford - easy W
@UCLA - they're gonna win this game
Oregon State - toss up
Arizona - likely W
@Washington State - toss up
@Utah - they're losing this game
@Oregon, USC, and @Utah are the only games I think they have no shot at winning. Every other game is winnable for them. They're 6-6 at the very worst this year with a real shot to go 9-3. Which- either record would be INSANE progression considering this was a 1-11 team that lost every game by an average of 30 PPG. They lost 11 games by 5 more points per game than Brian Ferentz new contract says he has to score per game. Think about that. What Deion is doing there already is nuts.
-
Yes but CBS summed it up well
This team still has issues. Beating Nebraska by 22 points is nothing to sneeze at, but the Cornhuskers gave Colorado a lot of help. Quarterback Jeff Sims fumbled the ball three times -- twice on a snap and once on a handoff -- and Colorado recovered each time. Two of those gave the Buffaloes possession in Nebraska territory.
Without Nebraska's help, Colorado's offense looked relatively lackluster in comparison to the standard it set against TCU.
The 'Skers defense was gassed by the 3rd qtr after doing more than enough in the 1st Half
-
What happens in the game without Sims’ mistakes? Sims may be the best option at QB that Rhule has this year.
-
I respect Deion for the job he's done in Boulder so far
better job than Rhule obviously
but, the main difference is that Prime has a QB, Rhule does not.
Prime just happened to have a son that is a very good QB.
I'd guess going forward Prime is going to recruit better than Rhule at the QB position.
It's on Rhule that he picked Sims. Bad decision.
Hopefully, Rhule has more luck picking the next QB.
-
They got to the point they had to try something then/there at the half. Maybe go back to him next week.He is more of an option guy and they were running mostly a pro style offense
