Iowa State QB Hunter Dekkers is accused of placing 26 wagers on Iowa State sporting events, including the 2021 football game against Oklahoma State when he was a sophomore backup quarterback in a criminal charge filed by the Story County Attorney's Office. It is alleged he put up at least $2,799 in wagers.
What we know after ISU, Iowa athletes charged in gambling investigation (desmoinesregister.com) (https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/iowa-state/2023/08/01/what-we-know-four-iowa-state-cyclones-charged-in-sports-betting-investigation-hunter-dekkers/70465613007/)
If this proves true, Hunter Dekkers could lose the remainder of his NCAA eligibility to participate in any sport, per NCAA’s newly enacted, less strict, gambling rules.
Dekkers had 3,044 passing yards in 2022. He is a junior.
What a tragedy of his own making, if true.

the latest sad story. i'm sorry to hear of it.

It looks like this kid was wagering about $100 per bet so it was not a huge organized operation
It would be interesting to find out what tipped them off

I don't know what set off the investigation but it seems to be directed at Iowa and Iowa State athletes.
Today it is reported Iowa's starting kicker bet on Iowa football and is now criminally charged by the Johnson Cointy Attorney.
