Well, we broke the 1/2 and 3/4 ties but not by much. For all intents and purposes 1/2 and 3/4 are still basically tied.

It’s fair to say at this point Iowa’s struggles extend beyond Spencer Petras. Alex Padilla saw action alongside Petras in Columbus with the two combining to throw 3 interceptions and the team committing 6 turnovers in the blowout win. If not for an early scoop-and-score by Joe Evans and first-half defensive stops, this game would have been over much earlier. As it is, the Hawkeyes are lifeless and still looking for answers offensively.
Up next: vs. Northwestern
9. Wisconsin (4-4)
Last week: vs. Purdue, W 35-24
Jim Leonhard wins his first game in Madison after starting his head coaching career with back-to-back road games. The Badger defense was the big story, forcing Aidan O’Connell into 3 interceptions, including a pair by John Torchio. Now, Leonhard gets a bye week to try and implement his vision as head coach and prove he can get this team to the next level if handed the full-time job.

I think you are being too hard on your guys. NU is not good.
-
- Ohio State - It looked as though the offense was a little out of sync in the first half. Receivers breaking off their routes early, Stroud rushing his throws, etc. But it looks like they finally got into a groove in the 2nd half. Defense looked lights out, but which D hasn't looked good against Iowa's Offense?
- Michigan - Bye week
- Penn State - Took out their agressions on Ski-U-Mah and broke some of their oars.
- Illinois - Bye week
- Maryland - Had a fight with the Kittys and had to rely on a freshman running back to pull this one out with Tagovailoa out.
- Wisconsin - Put this one away early.
- Purdue - Someone needed to give them a wake up call about an hour earlier.
- Minnesota - Another team playing without their QB. Not a good way to face PSU for their annual White Out.
- Iowa - Their Offense is killing their Defenses ability to keep them in a game.
- Michigan State - Bye week
- Nebraska - Bye Week
- Rutgers - Finally won a Conf Home game.
- Indiana - Vying for worst team in the conf.
- Northwestern - Had a competative game with Maryland, who didn't have their starting QB.

I think that's on purpose.
Apparently because he did it again this week. Hey @FearlessF (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=10) , please add Maryland into your rankings.

This isn't my ranking, just a reference, ranking of B1G teams based on relative performance against league opponents thus far:
As discussed at length last week with @Mdot21 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1595) , this is based purely on the raw score differential. I do NOT make any adjustments for "garbage time" scores, injuries, etc because I want this to be purely objective.
Also, all B1G teams have played either four or five opponents. In order for this to be comparable, the opponents of the teams that have played four opponents are ranked 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5 while the opponents of the teams that have played five opponents are ranked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
The rankings:
- 1.375 Ohio State: The Buckeyes are best against all of their opponents. Best of five against UW and best of four against IA, MSU, and RU.
- 1.5 Michigan: The Wolverines are best against all of their opponents that haven't also played tOSU.
- 2.625 Penn State
- 2.7 Purdue
- 2.8 Wisconsin
- 3.0 Iowa
- 3.1 Maryland
- 3.25 Illinois
- 3.4 Indiana
- 3.5 Nebraska
- 3.5 (tie) Michigan State
- 3.625 Rutgers
- 3.75 Northwestern
- 3.875 Minnesota
Wow does that make Minnesota look awful. They are:
- Third of four against IL, better than UW but worse than IU and IA.
- Fourth of four against PSU, worse than M, PU, and NU.
- Worst of five against PU, worse than UW, PSU, UMD, and UNL.
- Second of four against MSU, worse than tOSU but better than UMD and UW.
-
Last week in parentheses
- MICHIGAN (1) - bye week
- OHIO STATE (2) - weekly tradition of briefly giving an inferior opponent a moment of 1st quarter hope
- PENN STATE (3) - now that is how you bounce back
- ILLINOIS (4) - bye week
- MARYLAND (5) - survived without Taulia, but, woof
- WISCONSIN (10) - now I'm confused as to how they lost at MSU last week
- PURDUE (6) - battling Minnesota for biggest wasted opportunity of a season
- IOWA (7) - woof
- MINNESOTA (8) - see Purdue
- MICHIGAN STATE (9) - bye week
- NEBRASKA (11) - bye week
- RUTGERS (13) - finally won a home Big Ten game
- INDIANA (12) - really regretting that Tom Allen extension
- NORTHWESTERN (14) - bye week?
-
Last week in parentheses
- WISCONSIN (10) - now I'm confused as to how they lost at MSU last week
I've been trying to square that circle too. In their last three the Badgers have great looking wins over NU and PU and . . . that loss in East Lansing.
-
I am beginning to think the real fluke was Minn's blowout win over MSU.
-
- WISCONSIN (10) - now I'm confused as to how they lost at MSU last week
Turnovers, penalties and injured players in the secondary and OL.
-
I am beginning to think the real fluke was Minn's blowout win over MSU.
That came to mind for me as well.
-
Turnovers, penalties and injured players in the secondary and OL.
Wisconsin was just -1 in TO, and that was sort of negated by MSU being 0-2 on 4th down, compared to 2-2 for Wisconsin.
MSU also had 9 penalties for 103 yards compared to 8 for 72 yards for Wisconsin
Just 283 yards of offense for Wisconsin against what had been the worst defense in the Big Ten was the major problem.
-
who's Maryland?
-
nevermind, I found her..........

Injuries to OL and secondary, and critical penalties at critical times (PI). Combine that with a shitty game plan and you're gonna lose on the road every time.
I think they went in believing they could stop MSU cold and play the game not to lose on offense. That all blew up.

A big-time opportunity is coming to Lincoln this weekend. Nebraska hasn’t beaten a top-25 foe since the 2016 season, and No. 17 Illinois is no easy team to get past. Given that the Illini lead the Big Ten West, a Husker win would produce a three-way tie between Illinois, Nebraska and Purdue for the division lead.
11. Iowa (3-4, 1-3)
Previous: 9. LW: L 54-10 vs. Ohio State.
There’s nothing more telling about Iowa’s season than the fact that of the 10 points it scored against Ohio State, seven came from a fumble return the Iowa defense turned into a touchdown. The Hawkeyes’ continued offensive struggles means Iowa is squandering a great defensive season.
