This is especially for CD since I know how much he likes numbered lists.

I'm upset by how HIGH my team is ranked. I wouldn't have them in the Top 25 'tall.
Our schedule is interesting, we play 3 in the top 10, 4 in the top 11.

Texas with a #1 vote :o
I guess Sark is off the wagon. Prolly got drunk and told the intern to vote us #1. Errrrppp, why not?
-
I think for us here, nobody really cares, other than as a point of general discussion. Seeing USC so high is "interesting".

Texas with a #1 vote :o
The rumor is that it's a misprint, since there are 65 voters, but 66 first place votes if you include the Texas one.

20 is about right for UW.

Hey badge, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a good article on ESPN today naming all of the “position university“
wisc. is OLU and RBU. (Within the Big Ten)Well deserved. And they actually used mostly a formulaic methodology versus just opinion
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34206607/college-football-position-u-2022-which-schools-produce-most-talent-position

Yep, I saw that. I'm a little surprised they didn't get an LBU mention given the run of recent players they have put into the NFL.
-
I see Iowa is #26, PSU is #27. So they will be ranked soon enough if they win their first couple of games.
UCLA, Minn and Pur also received some votes.
I thought it was a little strange Iowa did not get ranked in the top 25 with most of the team returning from last year's 10-win team. Special teams will probably be a little worse, which could hurt in close games. Defense and offense will be about the same as last year. Oh wait, the Iowa offense sucked last year. Nevermind.
Oh well, we will find out soon enough who is any good. If I remember correctly, Indiana and PSU were ranked last year in the preseason top 25 and we all saw how that worked out.
-
Yeah, it'll all get shaken up sooner or later, though the top three usually end up top ten at least. The next seven bounce around. From there on, well, it gets less predictable.
Some obviously have an easy first 5 games and end up ranked 13th at 5-0 and then reality sets in.

That's life in the SEC.

How did the Wolverines drop behind the Domers?

That's life in the SEC.
Actually, that's life in the B12. Only one of our 4 top 11 opponents is in the SEC.

It was a generality, with your fact making it slightly sarcastic.

Iowa and Penn State disrespected.

Iowa and Penn State disrespected.
Agreed. Especially Iowa.
-
UGA, in the SEC, plays 12 and 21, but of course we tolerate mediocrity.

Agreed. Especially Iowa.
doesn't Ferentz have a bit of a record of slumping with high expectations and also following a good season?
the reverse of Pat Fitzgerald

That's life in the SEC.
not if you're Georgia or Bama
-
A top team is less likely to play that many ranked opponents in conference for obvious reasons.
-
not if you're Georgia or Bama
Fixed.
-
Cincy goes on and on about the Dawgs lackluster schedule
has to lean on the non-con schedule for decent matchups
-
I'd guess Tenn gets ranked at some point, maybe even UF and USCe, but they all are in the 26-40 range preseason. Miss State is the random opponent this year in the West, with Auburn. So, not really an apparently tough slate.

Iowa and Penn State disrespected.
Counterpoint: do I really have to respect Iowa?

when's the last time Ferentz upset the Badgers?
what's the head to head the past 10 or 20 seasons?

(That's tongue in cheek. For the rivalry)
To answer you: UW is on a 8-2 run in the past 10, 12-8 in the last 20. That's over meetings, not seasons, but we don't talk about the Leaders/Legends gap.
The last upset? It was 2015. Iowa was 4-0 and UW was 3-1, with the loss to Bama. Badgers were 9.5 point favorites, managed to do a good job holding down the Hawkeyes, but lost when four trips inside the Iowa 20 yielded six points.

That was a frustrating game. F Northwestern too. Peavy caught that ball.
