According to WNML Knoxville this afternoon..Jimmy Hyams has reported that UT has hired a high powered attorney ( forgot his name) to complete the investigation into possible violations within the football program.
According to Hyams, this guy is not hired unless there are possible serious problems.
There may still be hope for those hoping to fire Pruitt for cause.

Wow! Makes you wonder if UT is looking for an excuse to fire for cause

I heard last week they had been hired, but I said nothing as the source was suspect.
If memory serves me correctly they helped show Pearl the door as well.
They are very good at minimizing impact to the University.
I suspect UT found enough they either need pros to defend or have the ammo to fire for cause. I lean to he is gone, not just because of this but no replacements for the line coaches? Story I heard there was he was allowed to interview but he could not hire anyone yet.

So which Saban assistant will the UT administration hire for the new hc job?

Funny that you are more of a homer than the university itself.

There is a rumor that as of today Pruitt has lawyered up as well. We’ll see.

If he lawyered up that would probably mean a negotiated buy out

So you think being a homer is a bad thing? You really need another hobby.

Been unconfirmed reports he wants out.

UT may be signaling the same thing to you. 😂

If they are , they would tell me directly.
In the mean time I don't need a chronic complainer telling me being a homer is a negative.

We don't have Vol critics what we do have are VOL Fans unwilling to accept less than mediocrity who criticize bad decisions by those in charge and criticize bad coaches with losing records making millions doing it.
Some people see the glass half full, some people see the glass half empty and some people can't see the glass at all for staring at the orange Kool-Aid.

I have a different take on "The Critics". I saw a great football program literally destroyed by fans who thought they had all the answers. I remember "The Critics" claiming anyone could win at UT with our facilities, money and history so why keep a coach who had a losing season. UT demonstrated the Perfect Storm in 2008. It had a loud and vocal group of so called fans demanding we fire a HOF coach and a weak AD who went along to make them happy. Since that time we've been turned down by at least a couple of dozen good coaches who simply don't want to put up with the BS from those same fans.
It's easy to sit behind a PC every day and complain...I've yet to see anyone come up with a solution as to how to hire a name coach, pay off Pruitt and keep UTAD above water and support the athletic programs at the University,

Keep your head up your anal cavity. What do I care if you look like a fool?
That's what blind partisanship "homerism" will get you. But, do your thing.

I would suggest you might take some reading comprehension classes. You obviously haven't read my posts. I'm not a sunshine pumper .....just a realist. I have no problem if Pruitt is replaced as long as we can improve our situation. I have a suggestion....instead of constant bitching and moaning explain how UT can support all of it's athletic programs and fire a coach and staff with multiple years left on contracts, hire a name coach and keep UTAD out of the red.
If you can't address that then you are are obviously the one with their head up their rectum.
You do nothing but complain and call names...why not post something constructive for a change...enlighten us...please!!!

I guess you failed to read my post where I already answered that.
You keep blaming fans for Fulmers demise when it was his own doing so you have to be part of the Fulmer family in some way.
No one remains as adamant about something like Fulmers firing when it's been pointed out time and again or could see it for themselves if not blinded by personal reasons.
You're like the guy marching in a military parade and his mother thought everyone was out of step except her son.
You're estimate was 50 million dollars in another post to buy out contracts
AGAIN:
I don't where you learned math but even your estimates aren't even close fifty million is a big exaggeration on your part to make it look like WE GOT TO KEEP HIM.
Since we really don't know the status of the investigation or what violations actually occurred your big guess at what it would take to terminate all contracts would be enough to include Fulmer, the Chancellor and all coaches at TN
UT will get more money than that from their share of bowl and television revenue from the conference. Not to include the outrageous increases in tuition over the past ten years or the millions in donations they receive annually.
UT doesn't have a revenue problem like congress they have a spending and a moron problem running the athletic department.
One other thing when a new coach is hired the money isn't paid up front so that isn't figured in.
Question answered.
SNIP:
A head coaching change means a staff change, too. Add in sweeping staff buyouts, and UT would owe about $18.6 million in severance payments for a full football staff change, using Jan. 1 as the firing date for Pruitt's staff, according to a Knox News analysis of the staff's contracts and buyout terms.

We won three East Division Championships and three runner's up from 2000 to 2008 when Fulmer was fired. We were 5th in the nation in recruiting the day he was fired but that wasn't good enough was it?
We had a QB commitment who ended up as an All American but Kiffin told him he wouldn't fit in so he went to Clemson.
How's it worked out for you since you got him fired? It's so good you guys had all the answers.

You lawyer up, and fire will cause, negating the buyouts.
Seems that is what MAY be happening.
Calm your little head roadie, I doubt anybody will be asking your to write any checks. And, not sure why you are so hung up on UT's finances anyway.
Here's 180 million right here. They found it somehow.

I wonder how much of this "PORK" spending is still going on at the University of Tennessee. Some people only see what they want to see they never look behind the curtain.
We could have hired Saban and the entire BAMA staff for this kind of money.
snip:
NASHVILLE (WATE) – The University of Tennessee’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion has been named the “Pork of the Year” by the Beacon Center of Tennessee in its annual analysis of what it calls wasteful government spending.
The Beacon Center says the state and local governments in Tennessee squandered $480 million of taxpayers’ money this year. The Beacon Center allowed members of the public to vote on its “Pork of the Year” award which went to UT’s diversity office. The office came under scrutiny for online posts suggesting the use of gender-neutral pronouns and inclusive holiday parties. The office was eventually defunded by the state. Gov. Bill Haslam allowed a bill to become law, without his signature, that shifts funding from the office to minority scholarships for the year.More online: Read the full report (http://www.beacontn.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Beacon_2016PorkReportWEB-1.pdf)

Yeah 2 SEC championships in 15 years and got beat by Memphis ST. and Wyoming boy what a resume. Lets give him a big WHOOP DE DO for that. :cheer:
I'm sure I had a big hand in getting Fulmer fired. If I had that much influence he wouldn't have been hired back as AD and Tater Head wouldn't be our coach.
If I had that much influence I would have fired Fulmer sooner and we would be winning NC with Saban as HC.
You over estimate how much power me or any other fan has. You want to blame the fans for piss poor decisions within the athletic department, piss poor coaches being hired and piss poor performance on the field.
You're like democrats and liberals who don't want to accept or put the responsibility where it lies which is on the administration and coaches involved.

For those unable to read a calender.. the $180 million projection on stadium improvement was in 2019. .Before Covid, before massive projections of revenue losses due to Covid.

The $18.6 million only covers Pruitt and staff. Not for a new AD ..you do want to fire Fulmer dont you?
Now for the new coach. Pruitt is 11th in the SEC in salaries so figuring a name coach would get double the salary and of course his staff would be considerably more . Fulmer is somewhere in the middle of the pack so conservatively it would take another $30-40 million on guaranteed salary. My $50 million estimate would probably be low.

I'll ask again since you're reluctant to answer.. hows it worked out for you since Fulmet got fired?
Hell everything's worked out fine for me but I can't say as much for the Tennessee football program. From where I started to what I have achieved I'm an American success story to prove what an education and hard work will get you taking responsibility along the way.
Unlike those that have things gifted to them like Fulmer and still screw it up while blaming others for their failure. That's the democrat way not taking responsibility for ones actions.
It was all the fans like me who caused Fulmer to keep coaches who weren't doing a good job and losing discipline on the team. It was fans like me that called the plays and kept running the ball "Cause we a runnin football team" and "We gonna watch the film and work like heck to get better". It was fans like me who wouldn't throw over the middle "cause three things happen and two them are bad".
Yeah it was the fans doing all that and making those stupid statements.
-
And for those unable to spell 'calendar', the project runs through 2023.
The projection was made before the pandemic which was before the financial crises...but thanks for the spell check. That's what this board needs...more grammar and spelling police....good job
-
good to hear that destroying Vol football was good for some "fan's.

One can not help but be anxious as to what is going on and how long before issues are resolved.
There are some good potential recruits in the portal that possibly could help us.
Not to mention the uncertainty with our current team, recruits, etc. as well as if he stays he needs to fill his staff.

According to multiple sources, attorneys have been interviewing people inside the program over the last month of the investigation. Those interviews were also held on Wednesday, as they look deeper into alleged improprieties.
Part of the investigation that attorneys are looking into involves the use of local hotels regarding the recruitment of potential student-athletes during unofficial visits over the course of the last few years. Several members of Tennessee’s recruiting department have been questioned concerning these matters and more.
Another part of the investigation is the activity of a recruiting staffer who worked for assistant coaches, including ILB coach Brian Niedermeyer inside the football program and if he was involved in NCAA recruiting violations involving potential recruits, including Amarius Mims, an offensive lineman who signed with Georgia last month.

i saw the official statement today that there will be no extensions for staffer nor extensions, in addition to a hiring freeze.
it looks pretty rough up there, and, it is happening at a crucial time for recruiting. kinda sucks. kinda suspect.
