All the best to all of you, and those you love!Just don't jump out the plane, please!
Jumping on a plane from Florida to Michigan to see the kids. 75 degrees down to 36°
At least not without a parachute. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
Nobody has ever died from jumping out of an airplane. It's been from the sudden stop at the end.
We thought our Christmas dinner with my wife's parents might get scuttled, and were trying to figure out what to do instead.23 and me?
I told my wife "Hey, it's Christmas, and we're Jewish*, so let's cook some Chinese food!"
But it turns out our plans are on, so that's off the menu.
Damn. I was hoping to get some use from the Sichuan and Hunan cookbooks I've bought.
-* Sorta. 23andme says I'm >20% Ashkenazi Jewish and my wife is ~10% -- mine is entirely my maternal grandmother so by Jewish custom that actually "makes" me Jewish, although was not raised as such and [obviously] not practicing.
I presume that was the before picture.
We thought our Christmas dinner with my wife's parents might get scuttled, and were trying to figure out what to do instead.Aren't you Polish to?Plan "B" could be cabbage/sauerkraut,noodles,pierogi,pork and beet soup.Lot of Central European fare is similar

23 and me?HA! couple of guys in the back spinning a wheel and see what countries they stop on.Kinda like corporate customer service
You've been chipped.
Aren't you Polish to?Plan "B" could be cabbage/sauerkraut,noodles,pierogi,pork and beet soup.Lot of Central European fare is similarYeah, 55.5% "Eastern European" with likely matches Poland and the Ukraine, possible match of Lithuania. Another 22.5% Ashkenazi. And 15.6% German. That's 93.6% of me.
You're one of THEM
And, egg nog.
Many paratroopers in WWII got killed getting caught by the tail/stabiser but point taken

I was watching "Why Plane's Crash" or when or sum such on the Weather Channel. There was a young girl - forget where/when got sucked out of a descending Air Liner when lightning struck it blowing a hole in the fuselage. She fell thru a canopy of trees and into either hay or snow and lived relatively unscathed
What is truly amazing is that there are people that have actually survived it.
Tonight we have the kids, and keep them until 11 AM tomorrow when they go to their mom's.Probably my favorite recipe by her. So many good ones.
So tonight is the fancy dinner with the kids, going to do tri tip and shrimp, cheese potatoes [a casserole], brussels sprouts, and then have some Christmas cookies (wife and the kids are baking all day) for dessert.
Tomorrow night we're headed to the in-laws. Wife's stepmom will be making enchiladas. So there will be lots of "fold in the cheese" jokes.
NYE I think is going to be Julia Child's beef bourguignon. Not sure what it'll be paired with.
NYD not sure yet... It'll be our last hurrah before trying to cut back on calories [and booze] so it might be blowing out the calorie budget... Hell, we might just order pizza.
Probably my favorite recipe by her. So many good ones.Recipe calls for three glasses of red wine. I'll have to convince my wife that no, two of those aren't for the chef :57:
Probably my favorite recipe by her. So many good ones.Yup I make that one a bunch.
NYE we'll be camping, so it's steak night cooked over mesquite coals, asparagus, potatoes au gratin, and Bordeaux, with a cava toast at midnight.Alton would toss them right on the coals flip them and brush them off
Alton would toss them right on the coals flip them and brush them offYeah I saw that episode years ago. I might try it, I suppose.

So, what is everyone doing for food today, tomorrow, NYE, NYD?Double Smoked Holiday Ham Glazed with Maple Syrup
Fearless, I think that the beef stew I made last year for the Nebraska game in Minneapolis was much closer to beef bourguignon than normal beef stew, due to a generous slug of red wine instead of just water for the beef stock.for Gophers, you guys can rock a tailgate. The stew was fabulous as was everything else. Great hosts. Merry Christmas!
Celebrating with the in-laws. Homemade cinnamon rolls tomorrow morning, stuffed shells and steak tomorrow night, GR Christmas soup next week, and homemade Chicago-style deep dish pizza for NYE.
Merry Christmas to all of you wonderful folks.
Looks good, but that ain't Tito's.my daughter's boyfriend works at the new distillery in Lincoln
My wife got home from work at 4 am and wanted to do Christmas before going to bed. :/... medical pro?
