I voted Welch, though looking back, his better years were pre-decade. Oops. No great choices on this one.
-
So the pick one scheme worked for once
-
Gags
because of his relationship with Sam Foltz
-
Gags on production, but Welch on the guy you would call on to win a game.
I picked Welch.
-
I saw Gags win a game in Lincoln. Gags it is.

Makes sense. I was never sure which Gags would show up for a kick. Not sure why, but he didn't inspire confidence in me. Again for no reason I can cite, I always wondered whether he was hung over or something. Nonetheless, he also hit a game winner in the last minute or so against LSU.
Mehlhaff was the best in my fandom, I think. A little surprised the Badgers haven't done better with kickers.

He was bad as a senior, and that stuff often lasts.
1-4 outside 40. 4-7 from 30-39. Missed one of 29 or shorter. And even as a soph, he went 8-11 from 40-49, 2-5 form 30-39. Inconsistent.

He was hurt all season. Back issues (probably should have pushed the plate away more often).

He is interesting because his best was quite good, but you never knew when you were going to get it.
The later years with Phil were a little like that, as he was hurt as a senior too and probably his best early in his career. Gags kind of out compiled him in this situation.
