Title: Post CCG Power Rankings
Post by: medinabuckeye1 on December 04, 2017, 02:10:52 PM
  • Ohio State:  That blowout loss in Iowa City still looks awful and it kept the Bucks out of the CFP but wins over #2, #3, #4, and #6 with #3 at a neutral site and #6 on the road are enough to convince me to put the Bucks at #1.
  • Penn State:  The Nittany Lions might even be #1.  Close losses on the road to #1 and #4 aren't terrible but they didn't get a chance to prove it against UW so, #2.
  • Wisconsin:  There were times in the B1GCG when it looked like Ohio State was about to blow it wide open but the Badgers still kept it close.  They haven't had a bad loss or even anything close to it.
  • Michigan State:  I think we shouldn't hold the Spartans shellacking by the Buckeyes against them too much.  I think that was just a REALLY mad Ohio State team that would have done that to just about any team that week.
  • Northwestern:  Another year of starting weak and finishing strong.
  • Michigan:  0-4 against the top-7 hurts them but at least they were 5-0 against the bottom-7.
  • Iowa:  Great games against Ohio State and Nebraska but other than that not so good.
  • Purdue:  I realize that they beat Iowa but they also lost to Rutgers and Nebraska.
  • Nebraska:  Welcome home Scott Frost!
  • Maryland:  What could have been.
  • Indiana:  Tough schedule but they still should have made a bowl.
  • Rutgers:  Great effort by the Scarlet Knights.
  • Minnesota:  One great game (UNL) does not erase the rest of the season.
  • Illinois:  Ouch.

All season I have had Ohio State at the top of any power poll, even after Iowa.

  • Oklahoma (6)
  • WISCONSIN (1)
  • PENN STATE (7)
  • Auburn (5)

  • Notre Dame (11)
  • Washington (12)
  • USC (14)
  • Miami (10)
  • TCU (13)
  • Stanford (15)
  • Virginia Tech (16)
  • Oklahoma State (17)
  • NORTHWESTERN (19)
  • MICHIGAN STATE (21)
  • LSU (20)
  • Memphis (18)
  • MICHIGAN (22)
  • Washington State (23)
  • NC State (-)
  • Mississippi State (24)

26. Iowa (25)

So Bama beat #20 and #25 but lost to #8, which lost to #20, #2 and #1.

Ohio State beat #6, #7, #19 and #22 but lost to #5 and #26.

It all makes sense now. The Fabulous Iron Bowl has now been deemed meaningless. Please make a note of it.
