If I had to put a dollar down on one of the teams, it'd have to be OU.
-
Me two. As much as I dislike his antics, that OU QB is the real deal. I think he wins both games on his own.
UGA's only hope is to grind out long clock soaking drives that end in TDs, which they might be able to do, maybe, and then keep the defense fresh and probably spy BM.
-
It's gonna be Bama.
-
I like Clemson, they have the most dominant defense. Baker is good enough to win a game by himself, so he's the wildcard there, but a great offensive player can be neutralized if the other team plays great D and controls the clock. I think both UGA and Clemson have the ability to do that to OU.
I really think Alabama's too 1 dimensional on offense, and I don't think their defense is good as past years. still very solid, but not as good.

Clemson

if it was a continuation of the previous few weeks i'd take ou. but big offenses tend to struggle more with a long time off. it they don't have that struggle it's hard for anyone to score with them.
clemson is probably the best all around team.
uga, though, has a very good d as well and more than enough o to win it.
bama needs to get healthy at lb to really have a chance. but if they can they have the talent to win it as well.
overall, though, right now i think clemson has best shot. but it seems closer between the 4 than any previous year to me.

Clemson has the Best D.
OU has the best player.
Don't think Georgia has the guns to stay with OU.
I hope like crazy Clemson can crush Alabama so bad their fans scream for Saban's head.
Can Baker figure out Clemson's D, I think the @ss clown does and brings Boomer Sooner a title.

Oklahoma looks the best to me, and Mayfield is clearly the best player in the nation, and he plays the most important position, so I hate to bet against that. But Oklahoma has messed up on the doorstep too many times for me to bite again.
Subject to change, but right now, I'll take Georgia over Alabama

Clemson over Georgia... in a close game.

I think it will be Clemson over Oklahoma.

This looks like something I may have typed. Though, I think I will amend this merely because I think Lincoln Riley gets it done. I think OU's heel is the tackling, and not stellar LB play. I could see a scenario where UGA just runs over them.

I view Mayfield as a very similar player to Deshaun Watson. People like to compare him to Johnny Manziel, but that's only because of his "antics" and his height. He looks a lot thicker/bigger than Johnny Football, and he is just a completely different style of QB. He is more Deshaun Watson like to me in that he can run and burn teams with his feet, but he isn't looking to do that. That is a last resort for him or a once in awhile I'll run to keep the defense on their toes. When he is scrambling or rolling out, he is looking to throw the ball down the field. He is as deadly accurate a QB as we've seen, and he's almost like the college version of Aaron Rodgers in that his accuracy on the move is flat out ridiculous- it shouldn't be possible to be that accurate on the move. And he's a fifth year senior who has started 30+ games and has had 3 years in that playbook and system- he knows it inside out.
That's why I like Oklahoma. Those types of QB's are literally almost impossible to defend. You can have a pass rush all you want but it doesn't matter, he can beat it because he's not a pocket passer, he doesn't have to be set in the pocket and then step up and follow through to throw an accurate ball down the field. And plus the Oklahoma OL is very good, and it features maybe the top tackle prospect in the upcoming draft in Orlando Brown.
Give me Oklahoma.

But Oklahoma has messed up on the doorstep too many times for me to bite again.
I hear you, but that's more on Stoops than the entire Oklahoma program. Stoops isn't there anymore.
-
If Oklahoma remembers to bring their defense, they have a shot. I don't think their defense is bad, but it's almost certainly the weakest of the 4 challengers. They're most likely going to have to score at least 30 to win because I just don't trust their defense to make stops when they absolutely have to. If Baker has an off night, the Sooners could be in trouble. If he's on fire, their O might not be stopped.
Georgia and Clemson seem to have the best balance - I think UGA has the edge on O, and Clemson has the edge on D. That could be a doozy of a championship game too.
Alabama is sort of in the same boat as OU - if they're fully rested and firing on all cylinders, they might be the team to beat. But if Jalen is inconsistent and LB depth remains a concern, it could get ugly.

Hurts will really struggle against Clemson & UGA defenses. He'd fare much better against Oklahoma's defense.
Alabama's best hope is to survive Clemson and hope OU beats UGA.

I'll be asleep during the championship game so my answer is who gives a crap
-
Yeah, I'll be in bed by halftime at the latest myself...
I'll take Georgia over Oklahoma and Clemson over Alabama. And then Georgia over Clemson.
-
I'll take Clemson

heh, I was thinking of doing a reddit ban of the Alabama game.

Georgia over Alabama

My annual rant that the championship game should be during the day, on a Saturday, because it is a major event. Instead, it's on Monday night, as if it were an episode of Will and Grace and the networks need to maximize rating points. I am sometimes amazed at the complete disrespect college football people have for their own product.

I’m not sure about during the day, though I’m not opposed to it, but I wholeheartedly agree it should be on a Saturday.

Should be Saturday at noon. On espn2. With Pam Ward
-
2 AM on "The Ocho" with Frank Caliendo doing John Madden and Fran Drescher.

That got me thinking.....would it be fun to have, say, Seth McFarlane announcing an entire football game as Peter Griffin? Like actually announcing the game for real, but as that character?
Some other fun 'fantasy' announcers:
Leon, from 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'
Will Ferrell as Harry Caray
Kenny from 'South Park'
Hell, could you imagine Robin Williams announcing a 3-hour game? The viewers would be exhausted by the end.
Milton, from 'Office Space' paired with a chick doing a phone sex voice the whole time. That'd be hilarious.
