I'm in need of the defensive stats from the 2000 OU national championship team. Tackles and sacks totals. I've looked everywhere online and have come up empty.
Maybe one of you has an old media guide or are able to point me int he right direction. Thanks.

Try this, OAM: http://www.soonersports.com/pdf9/3804406.pdf?&DB_OEM_ID=31000& (http://www.soonersports.com/pdf9/3804406.pdf?&DB_OEM_ID=31000&).
If what you are looking for is not somewhere in there, then it might not be anywhere.
-
No.
See, if they have the leading tackler for each season, then they have a list of tackles leaders for each year for the whole team, I'm sure. It's somewhere.
All I've been able to do is piece together tackles for Calmus, Marshall, and Williams, and sacks for each. But I need the top 10 tacklers from that 2000 team. And the top 5 sack guys.
It's just so odd - this is the only national championship team I can't find this info for going all the way back to 1990. I found it for earlier teams even (77 ND, 85 OU, 88 ND, 71 UNL). What sense does it make that I can find it for '85 OU and not for 2000 OU?
-
Hell, I found a site with an old microfilm image of the tackles leaders of one of the great ND teams from the 40s. But 2000 OU is a freakin' ghost.
-
maybe thats cause OU sucks
-
www.sports-reference.com is usually pretty good for stuff like that, but I can't find what you're looking for on the '00 Sooners team.
Here's one for you: do you know of a site that accurately tracks fumbles/fumbles lost by players? The only place I've found that purports to track such a thing is www.teamrankings.com in the college football section, but I know for a fact their # of fumbles/lost for players is inaccurate.
-
dern them for being inaccurate!
that's not delightful a tall

This is quite stupid.
I contacted the OU athletic dept directly, through email. They lazily refer me to the soonersports site, which has zero tackles info. Ugh.
The closest I've come is to a XII site, which lists the leaders for the conference, which only has 3 Sooners in the top whatever. I can go back to other schools in the 70s for these stats, but OU doesn't have it for 2000? And another site had their annual leaders going way back, so if you have the leaders, that means you have the tackles stats for everyone - you'd have to in order to identify the leader each year.
FML.
-
Incidentally, collegefootballreference.com only has tackles stats going back to 2003.
If someone had a 2001 OU Media guide, I guarantee it'd be there, in black-and-white, plain as day.
-
you'd think they would be proud of a MNC team, but they are Sooners
-
I know Sooner fans were certainly proud of beating Nebraska that year, which I think was really the turning point of the season. You remember that one FF? We were down 14-0, and came roaring back, shutting Crouch and co down for the rest of the game. Looks like we had three sacks and Rocky Calmus alone accounted for 16 tackles as the Sooners shucked the Huskers that day:

So, there's one for you OAM. I agree that it's puzzling not to be able to find this stuff on line somewhere. I've looked too, but to no avail. There's a site called soonerstats.com that often has answers to questions like yours, but I couldn't find it when I looked there.
-
I do remember that one, unfortunately
huskermax is a great resource!
some ambitious young sooner fan should put together a website and call it SoonerMax

I remember when you guys were up 14 in that game and I thought to myself, darn despite the early promise of that season it’s just gonna be another one of those big losses to NU like we suffered throughout the 90s.
Then the 2nd quarter happened(!)

I have a 2017 OU stat.
Iowa State.
