Anyone else have their local Fox station blacked out by DirecTV? With football season here shortly I'm getting a little pissed off with the ongoing spat between AT&T/DirecTV and Nexstar Is there a way to stream a game live over a smart TV?
-
nextar and directv are having a cbs dispute in the southeast at least. still a few weeks until sec on cbs, but if that ain't fixed soon, they'll lose a ton of customers around here.
-
the networks need to lose these battles more often to keep the rates down
Cable companies, satellite companies, and streaming providers need to shut them down
-
Yeah I'm not happy about that @rolltidefan (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=12) .. Problem is cable is hugely unreliable and internet is feeble.
First world problems, right?

There has been a season or two where BTN was in this position in late August with big providers like Comcast. I think they wait this late to use the urgency as a bargaining chip. If "they" means the provider, that never works; but if it's the channel, maybe it usually works. In the past I believe Comcast has always lost in BTN negotiations. And this time I'm sure DirectTV will fold. So I'm betting you guys will have your channels in time. DirectTV is in a corner and is highly unlikely so foolish as to mess this up. Just like Comcast before them, the risk of subscriber exodus is very real and easily sparked by something we treat religiously (CFB) being inaccessible.
I'd say just kick back and have faith.

i'm not worried, but my parent's and inlaws have both contacted other providers to get info on how long it'll take to install if needed.
-
Even if you have DirectTV or whatever, everyone should get Youtube TV. Idk what it costs now, but I got it for $40/month with all the sports channels. And all the major networks.
It should just be the norm for everyone. It's just the channels you might watch, not 400 channels of crap.
-
no high speed net for me or i'd have dropped cable/dish a long time ago.
-
just phone internet or dial-up?
-
Just phone. Could get satellite net but it’s expensive and crap.

Yeah, that's the one I had heard of, didn't know anything about FOX.
As much as we love college football, having disputes with the two major NFL carriers I can't imagine will carry into that season. That's a killer

Complaining to your TV provider about a carriage dispute only encourages higher prices for everyone.

A CBS v carrier dispute did end up blacking out 2 weeks of Colts games here in Indy about 10 yrs ago
I only remember because we also missed UF v UT and some other game.

My FOX channel magically re-appeared after you posted this. You must have been in on the negotiations.

In most metros, if you can put a satellite dish up you should be able to put an antenna up. You can get your local networks free without relying on satellite or cable.
-
I tried to explain the antenna for off air locals to the bartender that was blacked out of the local affiliate's KC Chiefs game Sunday.
She had Direct TV with the NFL ticket - couldn't understand it
there was a walmart a half mile down the road. If I didn't have a tee time I would have grabbed an indoor antenna and hooked her up

Dish Network and Dish-owned Sling TV have dropped the Big Ten Network and some Fox sports channels in a contract dispute.
-
I gave up on Dish, DirectTV, Sling and Spectrum two years ago and switched to You Tube TV. Very happy with them. Only bad thing is there is about a 20 second broadcast delay and had to tell kids and friends not to text me right away after a good or bad plays. LOL
